Injasuti - There's a reason there's no electricity outside of 17:30 to 22:30. I'd be absolutely livid being up there hearing a damn drone droning around the place. It should be a place of peace and quiet and tranquility, not damn noisy electronics!!
And that right there is why drone use is treated as a problem by the authorities. Not allowed to in stone of those places, running it for others. That said you can never fault the views...

I just bought an '82 model that I plan on doing things to. You ditched the kickstart compression release on this bike. Why? Does this bike have reed valves stock? If so did you ditch those or change them?
Hi, I never took off the de-comp. Its on the clutch side, upi can see it at 01:11 Im not aware of this bike having reed valves (thats only on 2 strokes if im not mistaken) Good luck, its a fun project.
You're right, reed valves are usually only seen on 2 strokes, however, they did use reed valves on XL500's, but perhaps not yours, I'm not sure. If you have that square flange on the head at the intake, with what appears to be two gaskets on either side of an insulator, I believe you have it. Also, the kickstart compression release has been removed on yours. You can see the compression release lever at the top of the head has two places for a cable to attach, the 2nd cable that's missing from yours was short and ran to that round plug just over your kickstart spindle, where there would have been another short lever. It opened the exhaust valve slightly on the compression stroke when kickstarting, allowing an easier kick.
Looks like you had an amazing trip! I recently went on a road-trip round the Namibia on a similar route and it was incredible. Awesome drone shots by the way :)
Unfortunately droning is forbidden in the NPs. But you should work on your pilot skills anyway. Way too many abrupt turns. Try out the Fine-tuning of the remote axisses.

Love the drone footage, especially the following of the vehicle in the south and the impressive acrobatics at Spitzkoppe. Was it the park officials at Sossusvlei who objected to the drone? Did you have problems anywhere else?
Yeah teh park official asked us not to fly at Sossuslei, not sure why as there is virtually no animals there... but we complied anyway. No problems anywhere else :)
Maybe he had a bad experience previously with a drone pilot or was just having a bad day and needed to stamp his authority on someone 🙂 You still got some amazing footage.
