So Bose is garbage for passive noise if the ANR stops for some reason. Quiet is good and all, but I want a microphone test and mic-boom comparison(some designs are kind of rubbery or otherwise hard to keep positioned) I'd also like to see this type of test with the DC one-X.
Maybe it is just me, but I would say the Sennheiser was the worst of the three. The Bose had a high pitch hiss, while the Lightspeed seemed to be the best. I think that's the reason they didn't show the numbers from that sound meter. I own a jet cockpit version of the Sennheiser and don't think their quality is in the same league as the other two. The market seemed to have agreed with me since the company has stopped producing aviation headsets.
slrdave Bose has better ANR , but the Zulu 3 is the superior headset in every other way in quality , warranty etc. If Lightspeed had the same ANR I would use them In loud aircraft too . I owned both , but now have the A20 simply only because I fly a crazy loud turbo prop. The Zulu 3 has magnesium where Bose uses a lot of plastic , also the Kevlar cord is awesome. People say the ANR is the same on Bose , Lightspeed have only flown it in piston aircraft believe me get into a loud turbo prop plane the ANR of the Bose is the best I have seen out there.
you pushed that experiment so far why stop then and not showing the result for example in wave forms and some numbers? up to then good job though, thank you!
I would say the difference would be negligible - Zulu 3 improvements went into comfort and durability. But I have impression that in this particular test Zulu came out better than Bose, Sennheiser is no longer available anyway.
