Hey Justin with all the flat tappet in solid flat tappet problems are you guys still using flat tappet cams if so how are you breaking the men so they don't go flat
@brawler3475.0 I used one a couple years ago in a 388 and it's still gpin strong and kerrys engine from last years is a summit hydro flat tappet, its still doin well, but everything else is now roller in our fleet except the suburban, ive never had an issue with flat tappet stuff failing, maybe I just been lucky but I used to use em for everything,I always used high pressure assembly lube on all the lobes and the lifter bases vr1 20/50 oil, back in the day it was rotella 15 40,with rotella id use some break in additive, but vr1 just straight,9 times outta 10 my engines fire right up then straight to 2000 rpm for 20 mins,I never let em idle until the 20 min is up,on hydro lifters I set preload 1/2 turn and solids I set 2 thousandth looser than recommend and never had a failure,I had a lunati die on my very 1st engine but it was a lifter issue and lunati confirmed that and sent me new cam and lifters, that sane cam just came out of karlas camaro been running great for 15 years and when I pulled it out lifters still looked great...hope this helps ..justin
@@BIGDADDYDALEWILSON yeah I just switched from Ford's I'm the one that had that mustang and I'll talk to you about doing the blow through carburetor I sold all of it switched to Chevrolet I'm building a 1980 Corvette with a small block and I can't afford to do it twice so I'm hoping I do it right the first time I appreciate you answering me brother
Man talk about bad luck. Cant wait to hear the bbc on a 4 speed with 5.13 gears....that will be way fun. That sbc had a wild cam....wasn't clearing out till 3500.

Car's and truck's are looking good. I bet she's happy driving her Camaro. Kerry's Camaro with the tops look's nearly like what we have. Except ours is black. And we have 2 Camaro's. We have the 79 Camaro that belonged to a dear loving friend that was a sister to me. She left me her 79 Camaro with ttops. It's all original motor transmission but have customized part's inside. I bet u made that boy's day Happy Birthday Luke. We do charity events all the time during Christmas. And one boy just wanted to watch me do a burnout. And trust me when i left there i had to call in a flatbed wrecker (don't worry we own a towing company wrecker service and a trucking company and other businesses) and that boy was like hell yeah watching me fill the whole area with smoke. He thought idestroyed the engine. I was like nope blew out the tires for ya buddy. They was tires off a savage vehicle that was in our wrecker yard. He died from Cancer and he wished he would have rode with me before he passed. And i took him with me in the urn when i went drag racing that weekend and won Street Legal Small Tire and Daily Driver Class. I won so much $$$$$ i just handed his mom the money and said here. Even other driver's who won in there class handed her there prize money.
That engine and transmission was designed to be dropped out of the bottom like all other modern day cars, the wiring harness attaches to one junction and you separate after the engine is out, just a tech tip for next time
True words Justin The more things change the more they stay the same nice job Justin...the Camaro has come a long way Karla is digging it ....Layla is going to be a good driver...I started at 7 years old driving my dad's 71 caddy the land yacht of its day LOL...💯😆👍🙏
@billfrev on flat tappet I always did 2000 for 20 mins wirh good oil vr1 20w 50 never had a failure, roller cams I put em in fire em up and that's it...hope that helps..justin
I bet Karla wish's she had the one that has t-top's. We have several Camaro's. We have mine that belonged to my late Aunt it's a 1990 Camaro IROC with T-Top's. All Original motor and transmission. And even the interior is the same except for the Pioneer CD Player and two 10 inch MTX Sub's behind the back seat. And we have the 1979 Camaro IROC the paint is like the paint job on the Smokey and the Bandit Trans am. Even has the Eagle painted on the hood. And i taught Jessie how to do a burnout in the Drive Thru where my late Aunt was the manager. And i still do it since my oldest daughter is now the manager ha ha. All the customers don't mind at all. If i have those who knows us really good. If they are behind me. They will stay back to get a good video of it. The best video that we have. Is the video of the day i got back from serving in the Army. I asked to be discharged. And they honorably discharged me due to what happened in Iraq. And me and my Godmother sued the $#@!. And my Aunt and my wife was working together. And next thing they realized somebody is doing burnouts in the drive thru. And my late Aunt was like that's Jesse cause she can recognized motor's. And she was happy seeing me drive up to the 2nd window still doing a burnout. And when i got to the second window. She actually jumped thru the window through my driver's door. And she was like really happy.
Great score on the aluminum big block heads, there are definitely two engines that benefit greatly from aluminum heads and that is a 426 Hemi and big block Chevy. It is a shame to see the exhaust port weeping, that was the exact same issue that happened to my pro stock Hemi, number 5 exhaust port developed a similar leak
In the 80’s a compcam 268 set timing on cam with no advancement because they came advanced I think either 8, 12 degrees,2.02,1.60 valves and 10.5:1 compression was a good combination. Edelbrock performer intake with a single feed 600 cfm Holley and you had a modest 300hp,&350tq. 2,200 breakaway stall and we considered that fast, lol. Today it is a thousand hp normal for a street car
Justin , just some advice from another hot rodder , I switched to a 16 volt system on my Mustang and D150 drag truck and what a huge difference in supply and power output to my fans and fuel pumps. I tried the huge alternator trick for years lol
@KrzyKanuck81 thanks man im really debating on hoin that route the 12v system just aint up to task,we are gonna try to do a 16v on the s10 as well,my buddy dustin did his car as a 16v system all he did was put a 16v battery in it😂been goin string for years..thanks for the advice...justin
