How these Videos get OLD fast... now in 2024, EVs are being bought less and less after the fanboys got them, and the future for them is starting to be very cloudy, fewer and fewer people buying them... Toyota, Mercedes,Bmw, Vw and others are already abandoning future EVs' planned new plants in favor of returning to ICEs; also, several EV brands went bankrupt already, and Tesla layed off 14000 employees a few months ago, and now there is a RUMOUR that next week ( i am writing this on 19Jun2024) Tesla may layoff 25000 more, and that they will be informed of that via SMS.

Climate Change is making weather events more extreme. This will impact the worlds food supply. Floods, droughts, fires, excessive heat, snow storms and low water levels in reservoirs and in ground water storage are becoming more common. We must stop adding more fossil fuels to the climate fire. India, China, Brazil, Japan, US, Europe, Indonesia, Canada, Germany and Australia need to do more to reduce use of fossil fuels. They must stop building and financing more coal fossil fuels power plants. Time to go all in on wind and solar energy, battery storage and electric vehicles. Fossil fuels are a bad investment for people and the planet. Investors are divesting from fossil fuels. wind and solar energy investing is growing. The cost of dealing with the impact of climate change will be greater than the cost of reducing the impact. The world population is expected to grow by another billion people. Where will the food come from ?

The young guy who was talking about his '22 experience and poorly prepared contractors....I had the exact same experience (and I too am in the energy industry)! in early '22 Denver had a one-time-only rebate of something like $9000 for buying/installing a heat pump. I knew my gas furnace was near EOL and jumped to look into options. I talked with a couple of contractors who all said I would need a hybrid system because "heat pumps don't work when it's really cold". I'd been researching the topic for a bit and I was pretty sure that wasn't true. So I kept researching, and soon enough the rebate program ran out of money. I could see the writing on the wall and in the news that heat pump rebates were going to be a permanent fixture in the near future. Fast forward a few months to November and my furnace conked out. I talked with six different HVAC companies, and they all said the same thing - a heat pump only works well to about 40 degrees and then I'd need either electric heat or gas (hybrid) to supplement it. I sensed I was being misled; that installing two systems (gas and electric) was just a way for them to sell more product. The hybrid system would've cost somewhere around $13K. At the same time, my family was freezing. This was the year that we had a minus 20 degree day around Thanksgiving. We made it through that with electric space heaters, but I didn't have the luxury of time to research where to get "cold climate" heat pumps - which I knew existed. (NOTE: The presenter didn't bring up cold climate heat pumps and I'm not sure why). So, I swallowed my hatred of natural gas and bought a high efficiency one for about $8000 including install. I am still remorseful that I have to live with that decision for years to come. I'm happy to hear during the presentation that in the span of a few years the tide has turned, where heat pumps now make up the majority of sales for the HVAC companies. I also am aware that the DOE and related agencies are working hard at getting the HVAC companies to innovate, to make their CCHP systems more efficient (in terms of the COP), to bring down their costs, and to make them work well enough in really cold temps like the minus 20 we get on very rare occasions. I'm hopeful that, when that damn gas furnace gets to its 10th year, I can replace it with a super-efficient thermoacoustic heat pump, which as of today is bleeding edge tech. In the meantime, my washer and dryer and the gas water heater are getting old. Those are my next target. The current heat pump product market for replacements for these is thin and expensive but like solar, the price of all things come down as production volume goes up.

One of the best things I did was get a battery powered lawnmower and the battery can also be used for a lawn blower and edger. No more trying to get the gas engine to start after the winter, buy gas in a can and add stabilizer, changing oil, and no more load and polluting small gas engines for which you need to wear ear protection. With the new Li-ion batteries, I can mow my yard 4 times before having to recharge.

New homes need to adjust to the times. Home solar energy and battery storage are now more common. Electric vehicles are becoming more popular every year. Every garage should include a 220 volt outlet and electric vehicle charger. Electric heat pumps, electric clothes dryers, electric stove tops and ovens are all available. Every new home and business should install a rain water collection and storage system along with solar panels. Even in areas where rain is infrequent it is crazy to waste the little rain that does fall and waste it. We need to stop planting green lawns and switch to local native plantings around homes. It is crazy to plant lawns and build golf courses in dry desert areas. We waste too much water and electricity. the future is electric. Wind and solar energy along with electric vehicles are the future. Stop using fossil fuels. There is a climate crisis.

What Seba didn't understand when he did this, is that cars were a huge upgrade over horse and buggies, BUT Ev's are not an upgrade over ICE vehicles. Ev's are a DOWNGRADE from ICE.... All of these silly comparrisons that he gave were not accurate in comparing ICE to Ev's. Seba now knows better than this NOW.... but he keeps giving them because he needs people to give him money to speak this silly crap.

Large roof over hangs are beautiful and protect the doors, windows and siding from rain and moisture damage. Water is the enemy of buildings. Architects and home builders need to bring back large roof over hangs Electric vehicle chargers or at least a 220 volt outlet in the garage will be necessary as electric vehicles become more common.

I just ran into a local HP installer at my neighbor's house, he's bidding for a job to equip low income housing in Denver with heat pumps, one after the other. So glad such programs exist, created by Democratic leaders, to get climate justice. Previously, subsidies often went to well off homeowners. Money well spent vs millions spent on heating fuel assistance otherwise, all inefficient fossil fuel.

Local HVAC installers are slow to adopt to new technology. Trade shows and training programs for installers need to be implemented. More companies that produce Heat Pumps need to bring in trades people for classes at their facility and certify the installers.

Shop around! Many Community Solar Garden (CSG) companies in Colorado. You can save on your bill with some, not just a wash as presented here. Xcel gets the Renewable Energy Credit (RECs), so you are not actually buying solar with this company. The "solar" environmental attributes are stripped with the REC. Also, Colorado wasn't first, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) was first around 2006, United Power did CSG in 2008. Claire Levy was first legislator in the country to get CSG legislation in 2010. Great Native American content in this video at ~20 minute mark. Hope this helps.

Use the excess energy streams routinely wasted in the grid, at night though. By doing so, the world would meet its global climate goals, if only because the unstated requirements related to carbon capture energy needs, are still publicly unmapped. I disagree with his notion that hydrogen is somehow unnecessary. Everything else is eye popping.

Nearly all the "s"curve innovations he shows is about digital computers and the internet. Were there taxi's before? Could you call one on your phone? Of course; all Uber did is put the call feature on the internet with a map and billing; they could have incoporated taxi's but instead they got indepents to drive - any government could cancel that any day. Just as many governments are banning Airbnb. They didnt have to mine ore; they didn't have to make batteries or cars; and they didn't need a government subsidy to get started. Lithium costs spiked a year ago and did not continue to decline; it won't continue to decline because its mining not chip making.
@litestuffllc7249
@litestuffllc7249 5 месяцев назад
Lithium ion batteries are not like Microprocessors. So the curves make zero sense. For just the lithium which is only 7% of the battery; one must mine 500 tons of ore and 500,000 gallons of water to refine to get 1 ton of refined lithium not all of which is suitible for batteries. In computer chips you lithagraphed more transitors onto a silicon wafer - not the same at all. Where are lithium deposits? Mostly dried lakes- a lot water there? No they have to transport from Chile & Austrlia to China.

Mr Seba got the cellphone projection wrong. The reason the forecast he noted was low; was bandwidth of cell phones was then very limited; you could only have a voice conversation or very slow modem. The reason it got to 109 million was AT&T. AT&T partnered with Apple; to vastly improve the bandwidth of "cellular" communications to provide for a wireless cellular network capable of using the internet. Apple made a small touch screen pocket computer called an i"phone" that was able to bring users mobile internet. Without the collaboration by the AT&T, he says didn't participate in the digital expansion; there wouldn't have been one.

LiFePo4 (or LFP, Lithium Ferro Phosphate) batteries are cobalt-free, and already widely available in cars today. Lithium is an abundant material, and mining can be carried out in an environmentally friendly manner. Waiting for solid-state technology is a lame excuse to persist in selling gas cars like Toyota and BMW do for the past 15 years. It won't be widely available for at least 5 to 10 years, and it won't have the promised range.
