Where did you get your second Bicorn you wore that was plain black, that you showed how officers would wear it front to back? I'm doing a US Officer from the War of 1812 Impression and need something like that.
I started wearing fedoras 4 years ago and the benefits couldn’t have been more awesome: Sun out of your eyes so you can see No rain or snow getting to your eyes Looks amazing when dressed accordingly (don’t wear with a graphic tee or shorts please!) Keeps your head warm in winter and cool in summer And makes a excellent conversation starter As a plus, for my adhd crowd, it’s a great fidget toy as long as you keep it reasonable.
I’m not a native German speaker, but I’ve been learning it for a year and half, and I can say that your German at the beginning of the video was amazing! Very good job, anybody who I try to teach German to can’t even say so much as a single word 😂
J'habite à la montagne et il fait 5 à 8 degrés dans ma chambre, je porte un bonnet de ski de fond pour la nuit, il ressemble à un bonnet de nuit et est très agréable à porter.
It was not only in victorian fashion a headdress worn in leisure time at home, but also in k&k Austria. This had a simple reason: economics! At the time Mahmoud put forward his reforms for statuatory fashion, the city of Fez was the only one in the Ottoman Empire capable of dying this particular red. Well, the Empire was large and the production soon overstrained. But in Europe Germany and Austria were leading in chemical dying. Furthermore, Austria shared a border with the Ottoman Empire. Therfore it might be of no surprise that both countries hat beneficial trading treaties too. Good lords! We produced a hell lot of fezes! Well, as a matter of fact up to 30% of the Ottoman demand! That was the reason for the escutcheon of the famous Austrian Meinl Coffee sported a "Mohr" with Fez (colored Child wearing a Fez). To circle back to the attire for leisure times: The then modernist lifestyle was the "Biedermeier" which had the typical leisure dress comprised of slippers, dressing gown and fez. (as a sidenote: This "Biedermeier" lifestyle was the reaction to the very oppressive Dictatorship of Metternich, who acted as Chancelor of State as representative of the Emperor. The life was retreating from the public to the private space.) Another Anekdote shoud be mentioned: a bosnian sailor of the k&k Marine put forward the motion to be allowed donning a Fez as official military headdress; it was grantid in record time of 3 weeks. (wouldnt be possible nowadays)
I was considering getting a "real" one, with the back-woven brim edge, but I couldn't justify the cost. I had a cheaper one, and I loved it to death! It became a tattered gardening hat, and then became part of the garden.

As a 20-year member of the US Air Corps, Army Air Force and USAF, my Dad once called his side cap the derogatory female term that you quietly mentioned at the beginning of your video. When he passed in 1994, we included a similar "Pearl Harbor Survivor" side cap for him to carrying into Eternity. He, as well as my Mom, her 60-year-old mother and my 2-month-old sister were at their Hickam Field quarters on that fateful December 7th, 1941. I'm sure that he would appreciate your history of his flight cap(s)... Thanks again for another of your informative and entertaining videos. JJS
PS: Back in the sixth grade, I assumed that I looked pretty dashing in my brown Boy Scout's uniform, complete with a natty side cap with matching pants and a shirt festooned with a solitary "tenderfoot" badge, JJS
As a USAF brat whose Dad was stationed at RAF Wethersfield, we lived in Sible Hedingham, Essex from 1956 to 1958. Unlike here in the USA, today where we have no clue where millions of aliens reside, back then our village constable kept vigil on the status of us Yanks in his village. He sported this same evocative headwear as did my favourite television character, constable Dixon. Mr. Dixon was the friendly bobby of the old 1950s black-and-white telly program "Dixon of Dock Green." Thanks for stirring up these fond old memories with your interesting history of their famous headgear. JJS

As tu essayé les chapelleries du passage de l‘Argue ? On y voit des chapeaux tellement passés de mode qu’il est possible qu’un bonnet de nuit y soit encore en vente…
My parents were from Nuevo Leon, Mx. Most all Mexicanos I know and see in Mexico, and the US, wear straw cowboy style hats. Older men wear the short brim felt hats, younger men, the straw hats and larger brim. Its about protection from the sun. The Tejano hat is what most folks associate Mexicanos wearing on the daily. I myself have never owned a charro sombrero, although I'd like to, I can't imagine where I'd wear it at. It would be like wearing a WW2 steel pot combat helmet to your everyday duties. Great if you were in WW2, but not in modern society. Same with the Charro hat; great in Charreadas (Mexican charro rodeos), but not in modern daily life.

You could do a video on the red knitted bubble cap (tuque or traditional santa hat in scandinavia). During WW2 Norwegians would wear a red knitted cap as a sign of resistance towards the Nazis.
Merci ! A une époque on dormait assis, il n'y avait que les morts qui étaient allongés. On portait aussi la robe de chambre car les draps n'étaient pas confortables, il avait y un trou dans celle-ci, pour faire l'amour sans se dévêtir comme c'était honteux.
Ma grand mere qui est nee en 1912 dormait avec un bonnet un peu comme le tiens mais sans pompon, la raison c’était le froid la nuit, elle ma dit que petite le verre d’eau gelée en hiver dans la chambre

J'adore vos vidéo. C'est assez rare les Américains qui font des vidéo en français même si je comprend parfaitement l'anglais américain. Je connais quelque rare Américain qui parle français à cause de leur origine québécoise.
Refuser de dormir nu chez dans le lit d'un invité pouvait faire croire que l'on cachait une arme sous ses vêtements.

Dans un État américain je pense que c'est l'Illinois il est illégal de dormir nu (attend comment il savent que tu est nu dans ton lit a part si tu a les fenêtre non caché?)😂

j'avais un oncle qui dormait toujours avec un filet pour éviter d'avoir un toupet le matin sur le crâne. ça ne l'empêchait pas de se passer de la gomina, ou un truc du genre ! 😅 Et merci d'avoir évoqué la façon de dormir de nos anté-aïeux, à savoir nus sous une couverture ! je ne pensais pas au vu des quelques images que nous connaissons, certes plus proches de nous, celles de la noblesse et des pièces de Molière ! Personnellement, j'approuve et pratique ! 😅
