Hi I'm Steve I mostly try to make things from wood in my small garage workshop. I live in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park in England. Follow my adventures in woodworking and making things here on this channel thanks very much
Don't take this the wrong way Steve....but this is your best video. I personally don't know how creative I am but I do know that I love the feeling I get when I have a friend over and they say "Whoa! You made that!" It probably has to do with my dad not being proud of me or something but 🤷♂ that's for the professionals to sort out.
Sorry for being late to the party. This video reminded me of why I started making, and it just helped me away of the "it needs to perfect" road I was on my way down through. because it stops all creativity. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for this video! I really want to make my own desk shelf so this is really helpful. Is it possible if I could get all the measurements you used? 😁
Bravo Steve!! That was such a beautiful video mate. I fail so hard & so often, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately & it's really as much a gift as it is a curse. I try to live & die by the qoute "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars." Aim higher than you're trying to achieve & then embrace the failure, knowing that you're going to come out the other side as either extremely accomplished or slightly under the target but far more advanced than where you shot from. Appreciate your message mate, take care
It’s called a cross cut sled I made it a while ago from some scrap wood. It’s very useful and a safer way to trim wood . If you search for cross cut sleds on RU-vid you will find lots of videos on how to build one
Why? Because God created me in His image and since He's creative I co-create, but where God creates out of pure will with no need to do so I co-create out of a compulsion to do so for a myriad of reasons. One of which is ... why the heck not?
So talented and skilled. Jealous. It looks premium as. If I make one myself I would probably end up spending more than retail and a half decent monitor stand 😅
6:52 powerful words about the duality of creativeness. A dichotomy. Just found your channel from danier makes, and I'm definitely subscribing. Wasn't feeling like going into the shop today, but now I do. Thank you.
A lovely 11 minutes of craftsmanship and relaxation. I'm a similar age to you and have had a lifetime of creativity, but my woodworking is hampered by a lack of space and equipment but I still love it.
Steve, great video! I create for the same reasons, if I go too long without making anything, I just don't feel like myself. It's just something I have to do
Great video Steve. I just have the urge to make things. Don't know why?? I think if you make things, it brings out the creativity, as you understand how things are made and you can see how you can change things to make them better. Keep doing what you are doing, mate, you're doing a great job 👍
Thanks a lot Robert. As I said in the video in the same there is this urge to create and make and It just keeps me going. Thanks also for the great inspiration cheers
Hey Steve, This was a rather smashing video you've put together! I was particularly impressed by the cinematography, which was quite breathtaking, and the sound design, which was spot on. The story was also engaging and thought-provoking, and it left me with a lot to ponder. It's clear that you put a lot of time and effort into this video, and it really shows. You have a real talent for storytelling and filmmaking, and I'm excited to see what you come up with next. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you also for your great inspirational comments. I really appreciate them and they really inspire me thanks once again
I really didn't think it was possible to make OSB look beautiful, but I was proven wrong! You did an amazing job. Well done! 👏 Oh and the last panel was glued in upside down 😅
Thanks so much I really love the technique I want to try if again sometime possibly as doors on a drinks cabinet. I really wanted to make the ordinary extraordinary. Yes what a cool that panel was upside down but it’s against the wall so you can’t see it. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a fabulous comment
Wow. How can something so simple look so great. Absolutely inspiring. Why do I create ? I don't know really. I guess I like the fact that I am in control, I make the decisions, I make the mistakes, I find the remedial action, and I MADE IT. Simple I guess. Thanks for sharing this with us all, Steve. Brilliant.
Thanks so much you’ve made my day. You’re right it’s amazing how good we are at changing lanes when we make mistakes again we’re showing our creative side to solve problems. Thanks once again for watching and taking the time to leave a great comment
Love this video 💖 In response to your question- Why do I create? I believe it’s bcuz it let’s me be myself. I’ve been creative, or artistic as my teachers had said, since I can remember. And there’s proof of it before I could remember, such as drawings and Play-doh sculptures that my mother saved. Creativity helped me maintain peace of mind thru the trauma and drama of school years, thru uncertainty in adult years, and thru grief and pain in years of loss. Am I the best in any field of art? No. Absolutely not! But I know and understand every form of it that if I’m incapable of doing any category I can pick up in another aspect. If arthritis in my wrists prevents me from crocheting, I can still write silly stories no one will ever read on my laptop. If I can’t lift a heavy piece of wood onto the workbench, I can still chisel or saw it where it lays. 🤷♀️ Creativity is a survival skill. A coping mechanism. A joy to treasure within ourselves. Perhaps it’s a sort of faith or religion unto itself- the belief that we can do that or make this. It’s our ‘Happy Place” that can never be taken from us, especially from those that obviously have never nurtured their own ‘Happy Place.’ I’m sorry this is so lengthy- I love being creative in explaining why I’m creative! 😄🌟💖
Thank you so much for your great response you’re an inspiration to us all and your words mean so much to me. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment. Please never stop creating I’m sure you won’t thanks again Stephen ❤️
Beautiful video, you got me thinking as my boys are growing up and going through school, it is such a shame that they just don’t value the creative industries any more. But it is great to know we are all fighting the good fight in our sheds, homes and workshops to vent our creative urges. 👊🏻
Thank you for this video Steve. Thank you for continuing to highlight how making can improve your mental health... (Usually)😂. Making has always been part of my life as well in one way or another. I have just taken a 20 year hiatus from woodworking and I am so happy to be in the game again! Keep making great content! 👍
No thank you for your inspiring comment. You so right creativity is really important for our mental health I would be totally lost withy it. Glad your back in the game cheers 🍻
I think without being creative - I would feel totally lost. It's what gives me purpose. Great video! And now I know your not just an imaginary friend either.
@@SteveBellCreates Where did you get those tools you use on the table saw, what you used to cut those 45% angels for the stitching pony and the other tool. If you made it could you make a video on it please.
Woods that I have never heard of and talent that I can only dream about. Great to see what can be achieved will will, perseverance and a small workshop. Great work, and great Vid. Well done.
