Hi Ash, if you can obtain any work in progress cut scene animations that Core Design had for 10th Anniversary Edition and to assemble it into a video that would be very interesting to watch. There was an option in Crystal Dynamics TR Anniversary to play the game with this simple no texture or 'stripped down' no colour visual effect similar to what is shown here - possibly the ? mode was unlocked on game completion. Watching this reminded me of it.
I liked the swimming in TR with the air meter bar, which appears when underwater, and you can see it depleting. The remastered version looks a lot darker than the original version, which I have played fully and collecting all secrets (thanks to Stella's walkthrough - which Gavin Rummery has mentioned!). Anything on the theme of TR: The Lost Dominion the planned sequel to TR: The Angel of Darkness as a future video would be interesting. The sequel title is mentioned in the TRAOD Wikipedia article. Okay, thanks.
I was very surprised to find this. I have completed the PC game Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness 3 times, so this sounds familiar - but new! A very good effort, thanks.
4:38 Scar is a a real bloodborne Hollow Knight whose breath is of the wild. A proper 2 timing shadow furnace hunting the night. Luckily, Lara tears him a new Elden Ring.
This makes me think that the Garuda/Guardian at the end of the level was probably supposed to be reskinned to look like king kong, but presumably due to a lack of time it didn't happen. The same thing might have been true for the T-rex, but who knows?
Another interview that (I think) I haven't seen yet. Having quite an AoD afternoon :D It's so bittersweet, to imagine what could have been and how excited they would be to come back. The fandom is still strong and I'm so glad Murti, Jonell and Eric know how much we appreciate them <3 And we also appreciate you Ash for giving us the opportunity to see the interviews here ;)
This got completely lost in my "watch later". On a positive note, I had a whole new interview with Murti to listen to! It's so amazing to listen to him talk about AoD, and I also forgot he had that TV series deal for Shadow Histories, so that was a great reminder! I wonder how far along it is right now :)
How on earth were they planning to bring all of this into Angel of Darkness? Well, I guess they didn't plan and that was kind of the mistake. But still, that feels like waaay to much story that's seemingly disconnected from anything that happens in AoD.
I get that people wanted closure but this is hardly it. Considering they were never able to finish AOD let alone the planned trilogy, this is an unnecessarily complicated attempt at bridging the gap that ends up creating more questions than answers, as well as being more reminiscent of fan fiction or awkward background that doesn't really add to the actual game's premise. There are also inconsistencies - here, Lara lets a child keep her characteristic backpack, but in AOD she's wearing it in the introduction cutscene, what, did she ask for it back? Also here, she spends months with the tribe training, learning things like martial arts and becoming a warrior, but in AOD one of the main aspects is that her body is still recovering from Egypt and regaining its strength. Doesn't really connect there, does it? Another clear inconsistency - here Lara is deeply affected by her loss, but in AOD there is no mention of it whatsoever and the only hints of mourning she does are for Werner. Speaking of Werner, another issue not only with this but with AOD itself, Lara seems angry that he abandoned her in Egypt but we saw in Chronicles that he's the only one looking for her. I'm guessing that Jean Yves was originally the one being murdered before they had to remove and replace him for legal reasons, considering his appearance at Lara's home in early Chronicles cutscenes. Certainly would make more sense than Von Croy going from villainous boss and VCI executive with extensive archeology resources to casual professor/researcher living a quiet life in a cozy Paris apartment. Let's face it, AOD is a fun standalone experience but hardly the masterpiece they originally set out to make, and this video is just more evidence of that. Sad, but it is what it is so let's not treat this as AOD's redemption arc.
What up mar1con, "elernarte" - or a handmaid of the marikon... Here's a tip. If you stop being lazy and get a job, then you won't hate on strangers on RU-vid. You can do it. Also don't throw stones in glass houses, one day someone will publicly out you for being sexually frustrated, envious and rotten on the inside.
19:27 The idea of Phil, Gary, Kris (and hopefully Rebecca?) getting back together to create TR4 Gold sounds unbelievably exciting! I really hope Aspyr is listening to this for the upcoming TR IV remaster. BTW, Lost Artifact was my introduction to the Tomb Raider series, and to this day I prefer it to the base game. I loved Shadow of the Cat too.
You should link the levels somewhere, as neither description nor comments have the link to that archive. I found it on your site in the Games section... tho the two sections below TR Gold have broken links: The Last Revelation and Chronicles Developer Files pages don't work and give 404 (Page Not Found) error.
Idea for another stream, if they patch and fix the golden mask DLC get phil and kris back on to play it and get gary back for another look in the lost artifact, i felt like its a madhouse and willards lair was rushed, id love another stream of each DLC like you did before, seems like phil would be up for it.
I'd love to have a stream with the entire team, including Mike schmitt like we did last time. There are 3 streams of the og gold packs on my channel with the entire team for you to check :)
@@TombofAsh oh yeah I've seen them & they were so good, maybe you can get Mike Schmitt & Rebecca in for a look, would be nice to get their impressions. Rebecca can see her beautiful work in it's a madhouse remastered
Hot take (maybe?) but I would be fine if Aspyr/Saber/whomever were to only remaster The Last Revelation and Chronicles, no Angel of Darkness, _if_ we get a brand new Gold expansion instead.
I want to know would they work on another Tomb Raider in the same style at the old ones. It would be cool of they got together again with some people who create TRLE to make a new game.
I LOVE JUDITH! She is such a humble, lovely and awesome person! This was such a great watch, and I hope they hire her to voice Lara again! Her voice, and delivery is still spot on all these years later!
Phil is a national treasure, we must protect him at all costs! Love his passion, how he talks and remembered many things, even they happened 25~ years ago
I don't think Ash likes to hear/think about the original Core members being horrible bullies to a new guy on his first day for no reason. Every time he just dismisses it like he doesn't want to accept it. But it happened and it's NOT ok even if it didn't last.
@@TombofAsh I've seen all 4 streams you've done with the gold team now. It was brought up in the original Unfinished Business stream where you diverted into the passing of Neil. Am I missing anything?
As you all see, the OG Devs LOVE TR and are not like those woke shit Crystal Dynamics who hate the og Lara and the games from Core's....and they also dared announce the news about how Lara will stop being a """"colonialist""" and tomb raider and become a Seeker of truth etc. If only Core Design comes back and retrieve their work!!
43:53 Haha, so I got Tomb Raider Legend disc and it for some reason hanged on the final snow level, so I brought it back to the store (okay, a shipping container on a market) and shopkeeper offered me to exchange it for 5 games recorded on blank DVDs, and one of them was the Godfather. You're from Turkmеnistаn? In Ukraine the 2000s market was wild, every console was chipped and I had US or Japanese versions of old games playing, but also stuff like homebrews, unlicensed Chinese ports, and collections like 4-in-1... I still have Resident Evil collection on two double-sided CDs lmao, I think it's missing FMVs or something to make the space. xD I think having the store shelves the dreaded "r^&ZZan versions" of games prompted me to just learn English and avoid the horrible translations.
43:16 the Godfather remaster might be too much trouble with all the actors and movie licenses related to it (Al Pacino refused because he sold his likeness to Scarface game but I assume the rest of the actors/agencies still need license crap to figure out).
