This channel is designed to share my* nature videos with anyone interested. For 35 years I travelled the world in search of birds and other natural wonders and during these trips I made lots of videos. I shoot my videos with pocket cameras (Lumix Panasonic DMC-TZ70 and Canon PowerShot SX720 HS), occasionally with smartphone. Poor quality videos are purely to document my sightings. I started out as a birder but I have become more and more interested in other creatures as well, most noticeably insects and reptiles. Everything that catches my eye (and that moves - though there are exceptions!) I will try to video - and that includes tropical rain! I hope you enjoy!
All videos of wildlife are linked from Observation.org, that holds photos and other (site) info about the observation.
*A few videos are by Fons de Meijer (West Papua 2018), Vincent Hart (Cuba 2017) or Quinten Hofland (Hawaii 2023).
Holy crap dude that has to be one of the most beautiful insects I’ve ever seen! Good on you for finding it. I don’t know exactly what type of spiny stick bug that is, but it is gorgeous. I love it when people find new color variations of insects because there’s so many of them in the world that new species are discovered pretty much daily! Really hope there can be some more awareness for insects and arachnids because they are extremely important to our planet’s ecosystem and I feel like it’s really unfair the way most people treat them.
It was easy to find as it was attracted to the moth lights and hard to miss because of its size. I hear you, I keep being amazed every trip at how diverse and colourful insect life is on our planet - you don't even necessarily have to visit the tropics to find beauty all around. Check out these for example: observation.org/observation/283673754/ and observation.org/observation/282662602/.
Sadly I have not been to Uganda yet but it's at the top of my list! Good to hear there are Katydids there too, since apart from the birds the bugs take up an ever-increasing part of my travel time nowadays ;-)
