btw for the last round i wound up just switching hands. im left handed, and doing everything horseshoe means just doing single crochets with my right hand, which was way easier than doing it backwards
Do you have any suggestions on how to add this to a star blanket? I want to add something around the beginning circle. It's not a nice and neat like one done in a row. Thanks.
Hi there! My recommendation would be to put a pin in the spaces where you would want to work a surface stitch and see if you can create the image or writing you are trying to achieve with just pins in each space. You can use that to get as close to it as possible, considering that the lines will not be as straight. But this will give you more control in the planning of the design.
Yes! It is a Furls Odyssey. They don't make this specific one any more, but they have a great new line of metal hooks that are really comfortable and beautiful. :)

@@HookedbyKati My grandson requested for me to make him one he’s 12 years old and was trying to make him one prior to going to Portland Oregon from San Diego California for the birth of my granddaughter his sister the end of August-Beginning of September 2024. Thank you kindly Blessings Christina
Thankyou sooo much for the lovely pattern for the beautiful Peacock......My Grandson had is fond of birds and animals.....He asked me to make peacock for him....I found your video.....I just love it and made the same......it turned out really beautiful......I learned a new loop stitch from you.....Thankyou so much
I'm not sure which part you are working on, but most of the parts in the round start with 2 chains. The original pattern for this video has been rewritten and remodeled, so I don't think the written pattern will match up if you are working on things like the spines or tail.
Hi, Kati. Great instruction. I looked at your blog pattern for the entire owl (precious!). How difficult is it to see the stitches made with the Red Heart Hygge bulky yarn? Thanks.
Hi there! The whole pattern is already available! Though the Hygge yarn has been discontinued, there are several very similar substitutions on yarnsub.com. The pattern is available here: www.hookedbykati.com/hygge-owl-free-crochet-pattern-for-underground-crafter/
@@HookedbyKati Yes, I read the pattern. I wanted to know how difficult it is to see the stitch definition when crocheting in the fuzzy bulky yarn. Thanks.
Good for you seeing is so nice. But as a glasses wearer for years, I don't like the progressives and usually take my glasses off to do craft work. Close work, just my take and my eyes, everyone is different. do whatever it takes to get the vision you need. They look great on you.
I can tell by your comments in your video that your clearly going to be wearing your glasses fulltime now that you have them. I'm sure you had that "WOW" moment the minute you put your glasses on for the first time and took a look around. Seeing individual leaves on trees for the first time had to nice. Now I have a question for you. Even though you have only had your glasses a very short time, if you were to break or somehow loose your glasses how well would you be able to get by without glasses until a new pair could be made for you? I'm guessing you wouldn't like that at all. So I highly suggest that you go on-line to any one of a number of really good glasses sites and order yourself a backup pair of glasses as well as a nice pair of prescription sunglasses. Your lovely non-prescription sunglasses are now no use to you. So i suggest giving them to a friend. Someone suggested Zenni Optical and Payne Glasses to you and I couldn't agree more with either of those sites. You can also add Lensmart also. You should be able to order really cute glasses from any of those sites for under $20.00 and that includes the lenses in your prescription. So in order to do that here is what you need to do. Go back to where you got your glasses from and ask them for a copy of your prescription and also be sure to ask them to include your PD measurement. Now if your curious, which I'm sure you are, your PD measurement is the distance between your pupils in millimeters. Generally speaking it should be somewhere between 56mm and 63mm. Now they may provide that as two numbers something like 31mm / 30mm. Either way is okay and correct. When placing your order they will accept it either way. Now if they provide it as two numbers you can simply add them together and provide it as one number. Now juts be careful to enter the numbers of your prescription with the minus sign and not a plus sign in front of them. Now here is how to make sure any glasses you find on-line will be a good fit on you. As you know frames come in all different sizes. Take your glasses off and look on the inside of the temples and you will see a set of 3 numbers. Those numbers are the size of your frame. So since your glasses fit you so well you want to use those numbers when picking out another pair. Here are what the numbers mean. The first number you seem see is the width of one of the lenses in your glasses and around 50. The second number is the bridge size or the part that fits on your nose. It should be around 18 and the last number is the length of the temples and around 143. You will notice that all of the glasses sites shows the sizes of the frame which includes those three numbers. By matching those numbers rather closely should provide you with a good fitting pair of glasses. Another good way of checking for a good fit is by finding a ruler that has millimeters on it and measure across the face or front of your glasses from outside edge to outside edge. I'm guessing your glasses are maybe around 130mm wide. The sites also shows an overall width with each pair as well. Be sure to get an AR coating for your regular glasses. nit needed on sunglasses. Now something that Zenni offers that I think is really good is they offer a sunglass clip for every frame they make that fits perfectly with that frame. The clip is only $3.95. If you choose to get that then you don't need to order sunglasses. But then you should consider getting 2 sunglass clips in case you were to loose one. If you have any questions about your eyes or glasses please feel free to ask me.
I think your actually nearsighted with astigmatisms. But you may also be a little bit farsighted as well. As a former optician your near vision and headaches are almost certainly caused by your astigmatisms. Usually being near or farsighted won't result in headaches, But astigmatism are know to cause frequent headaches. I hope you accepted the option of getting an AR coating (anti-reflective) on your glasses. Generally speaking the local optical stores offer that for anywhere from $45.00 to as much as $100.00 extra. But it's totally worth having and especially if your going to be wearing your glasses fulltime, which it sounds like you most likely will be. Also Someone mentioned Zenni Optical and Payne Glasses to you forgetting glasses on-line and I fully agree about both sites being very good and inexpensive sites for glasses. You can also add Lensmart to those two as well. Since your now going to be wearing glasses to drive one thing your going to need very quickly is a nice pair of prescription sunglasses. Once your eyes get adjusted to your glasses for driving you won't be able to wear your non-prescription sunglasses anymore. After you wear your glasses for a couple days don't be surprised that you were somehow able to see to drive without glasses just a few days earlier and now you can't see well enough to drive without them. You can expect things are going to look much more blurry to you now when you take your glasses. I also suggest that you start considering ordering at least one additional pair of glasses as backup pair rather soon. I have a feeling after a week of wearing your glasses you would be lost if anything were to happen to your glasses. You wouldn't like having to wait 4 or more days for new glasses to be made for you. If you have any questions about glasses or your eyes please feel free to ask me.
They look great! You won't notice the glasses being in your vision in a bit. You can get a pair for reading and a pair for distance, and not have to do bifocals.
As a retired optician I need to tell you what a bad idea that would be. When she's ready, which I think will be within the next year or so she should go straight to progressives. I'm a little surprised that her doctor didn't prescribe her progressives right away. But most likely he or she wanted Kati to start off by first getting used to wearing single vision glasses before trying to adjust to progressives which would take much more adjusting to.
They’re super cute! You’ll get used to them ❤ I forgot about the box thing, I’ve been wearing mine for more than 30 years. But I do notice how things feel more ‘open’ when I take them off. It’s so nice to be able to see though, isn’t it?? You’re inspiring me to update my frames! And I really need new lenses, too.
It's so good to know the "box" fades into my sense of normal eventually. :) It is pretty awesome how much different my vision is. I didn't even know how blurry I always was! Thanks for you support!
@@HookedbyKati Your glasses are really very cute and look very nice on you. But to be honest if i had been assisting when choosing your frame I would have suggested finding a frame with very little frame to avoid that "boxed in" feeling you were seeing. I also recommended new glasses wearers to avoid getting a full style frame as their first glasses for that reason. By the way, even though the trend in glasses is the bigger oversized frames, i personally think your glasses are perfect in size and they appear to be a perfect on you as well.
I got glasses for up close a couple of weeks ago, intense migraine for the first week but seem OK now. I don't have any tips as yet but would definitely be interested in a dragon glasses holder. I have to take my glasses off when walking away from the computer at work so having something to put them on would be good.
