These are the adventures of SV Prism. Follow the the crew, Shannon and Jon as they sail their Hans Christian 33 sailboat to Mexico and beyond! We are a few years behind in uploading the videos, but we have been filming all our adventures from Mexico, down the west coast of Central America, through the Panama Canal and up the east coast of the US. The videos will start up again very soon. Thanks for watching and please subscribe! Check out our Prelude video to get caught up with how this adventure started. The first time i saw that boat in a sailrevue Noordzeil in 1985 and loves immédiatement the HANS CHRISTIAN 33. Still now it is one or m'y favorits. Gold sailing
I think the Aqua Drive is superior as no form of alignment is needed, in fact it must be a certain amount out of alignment. The Sigma still wants to be in as fairly aligned. But if space is an issue nothing beats the sigma drive.
First heard about Altata as an anchorage watching your video six years ago. Finally got the chance to set the hook here, April 2024, with two other buddy boats. Still a great very traditional Mexican beach town with lots to do, lots to eat and lots of live music.
Great tour--and love your energy and humor! I'm currently looking at a HC33t, so this is wonderful. You've done a great job of keeping her in better-than-new condition! It's been a long time since you posted this--do you still have her?
My partner and I stumbled upon your channel and have been thorughly enjoying watching. We pretty much just finished prepping our boat (it's done enough) and plan to leave in the spring time heading down the coast out of SF Bay, first to SoCal and the channel islands, then MX . We're sad that only two more episodes remain as the style and content is excellent. Hopefully you will find the time/energy to go through footage and release more episodes. We'd love to learn about your experiences going west to east as we're considering doing the same.
The originals are not removable. Since installing the bronze I have had them off once, they looked perfect. All the hardware was replaced with silicon bronze carriage bolts in 2018.
Well done, I know this is several years old but still very interesting to people like me. I've been following your adventures for quite sometime, enjoying every episode. I love Prism, if I ever decide to purchase a sailboat, I would look for one just like yours. Good luck and calm seas.
Would be nice to know where you all are today, hope what ever killed your dream will one day rekindle that passion ten fold and you can continue to bring it to all those that love your now deserted channel!
There is a beach along the south shore of Catalina that is popular with the locals but most people don't know about. Its about half way from the isthmus to Avalon, and they may have expanded it since I was there 25 yrs ago. I have also seen a lot of sailboats anchored in the coves along the north shore.
We have moved on to a fatty knees 8. We don't have a video on it but the procedure is the same. We lift it with the job halyard, lay it down on the fordeck then we spin it upsidedown with Shannon lifting the front and Jon lifting the back.
