I swapped my 06 bmw X5 3.0 diesel for a 01 f150 5.4 and I thought surely the big V8 will be great for towing. I am quite disappointed in it. The X5 had loads more pulling power. Hopefully I can mod this f150 to tow better because that’s what I do full time.
@@garybeasley4885 Life is a series of trade-offs. The benefit of summertime heat is the increase of natural beauty, such as displayed here. Freezing weather doesn't present the same opportunity.
The video is good and makes me want to get a tuner for my truck. It's a 2000 with a 5.4 2v. The engine is a ford rebuild with about 25K miles. The old engine head gadkets failed 3 times. Water jacket leaking into the #1 cylinder and the always failing front right coolant crossover breaking. Currently installing Cometic mlx head gaskets also some Gibson SS headers and the SDP Y pipe conversion that is supposed to greatly improve exhaust flow. Other trick id the MMR coolant crossover kit modification that goes in the freeze plugs on the back of the head which improves cooling for #4 #7 #8 cylinders. With the headers and Y pipe modification, I hope to gain 20 to 30 HP. Perhaps more with a good towing tune when carrying my 4000 pound truck camper. I limit my rpm to 4500, at 5000 the engine seems unable to contain coolant. The only thing I wih you had done is post the recorded times for comparison. Take care...
I would say that if someone is looking into building something vs buying something , they most likely already have basic power tools. Dewalt tools are nice but there’s definitely cheaper options out there to get you started.
I did this to fix all my leaks. But as a bonus it seems to run smoother, cleans up the engine valley, gives you control over your fuel pressure and makes it easier to access things like the ipr and hpop. I didn’t see any effects on my fuel consumption or hp good or bad.
