Search Press is an independent, multi award-winning, family owned art and craft book publisher in the UK.
We specialize in producing beautiful and practical books on knitting and crochet, sewing, needlecraft, art and general crafts for people of all skill levels. The company was founded in 1970 by Charlotte de la Bedoyere, known as Lotti to everyone here at Search Press, in an attic room in Kensington.
In the early 1980s, Lotti moved to Tunbridge Wells, establishing a warehouse and offices in a quiet corner of the North Farm Industrial Estate - where we are today. Then in 1997, following her decision to retire, her son, Martin de la Bedoyere, took over as Managing Director, with his wife Caroline.
With a team of nearly 40 people, many of them long-term employees, Search Press now publishes up to 100 of its own titles each year, as well as distributing books for other publishers.

Absolutely love this, thank you! Going to have to have a go myself - I'm itching to add some shimmer! We're going down to Dorset in the next couple of weeks, just a bit too late!

a friend of mine got this book recently..she brought it with her to our crochet group today..I drooled, I mean I looked through it and decided that think I need a book like this because I am getting into tunisian crochet so much myself..
In Australia we now use the vilene method going around edges that need turning under...this method is out of date for doll dress making. see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OIpedQJMj5Q.html
Hello Carla, I am having troubles crocheting the legs together correctly I have looked at the instructions but still it isn't correct. Is there a video demonstrating how exactly to do this properly?
I've made several of these outfits, but not this one yet. You make it look so easy and I love your fabric pairing! I may have to try one of these now :) I have also found cotton fabric to be easiest!
such a lovely book but does not say what colour he used in the Gouache painting which was frustrating as a beginner. He also does not tell you what colours he uses in the paintings, you have to guess. not the most helpful
Nice video, I like her book Head-to-Toe Winter Knits: 100 Quick and Easy Knitting Projects For The Winter Season. Has some great beginner projects in it. Can you do a video on this? Thanks.
Just found your site ~ wonderful presentation, detailed, low-stress!! I'm more self-taught except for some college oil painting classes ~ so am a bit intimidated by realistic work. This strikes the perfect balance for me Many great tips jin tools, setting up and more!!
This probably isn't the most appropriate place to leave this comment, but I just had to gush over you. I love the 4 of you so! Your banter with Gail and your "dad" jokes get me every time. Before I found you I would step up to my fabulous paint bench, in front of my sexy easel with my posh paints and brushes that cost more than my life, and my guts would turn to ice water! Your irreverence for watercolor was so refreshing and liberating for me! You got me through my first successful skies, trees, and water. If I could monetize what I''ve learned from you, you'd be rolling up to your mansion in a Bentley and Gail would be dripping in Gucci, Hermes and whatever status items that say you've "arrived"! I've found my own style, but whenever you've got a new video, I make an evening out of painting along. It feels like a standing poker night with your closest friends! Bish bash bosh the squiggly, twiggly, bushy bits! Add a little bit of rough and finally wash it out, squeeze it out, and mop it up! I love you Charlie!❤
