The desperation she projects here has not been heard since the Callas Lisbon Traviata 1958. Gorgeous voice and line, but so heart wrenching in the colour of the voice too - voice at the service of drama. Truly historical level singing, one of the greatest ever in this role.
It's pointless to choose. In my opinion, Renée has a beautiful voice and is really smart in terms of technics, Anna has a powerful voice which is sometimes overpushed nowadays, I liked her 'till 2008, until she sang lyrical arias. I prefer Renee's style, but they are both really good.
Diction very mediocre. She is defnitely not a superstar of the opera stage as many make out her to be. Very, very middle range singer trying roles that does not suit her at all like:,Traviata"
