This is soooo beautiful and the video is so poetic. Sam being projected on different spots of the house is emblematic of the cover itself. It’s like Sam is reflecting on the meaning of the song, while interpreting it through his playing. His image becomes a pondering daydream upon the landscape that tells the story. The history and meaning is already there, and now it’s Sam passing through it. It’s super cathartic and reflective to watch. What an amazing and wonderful surprise to see these two artists collide. Also seeing the house in all these new ways is so cool, it always makes me emotional and meditative, just like the music of iron and wine.
This song and video perfectly encapsulates what it’s like to not only be in love, but young love. I’d argue it’s the idealistic puppy love of our youth that got you so high you reminisce about it forever even though it was simply a stepping stone in your growth and it was completely unsustainable. Not to say it’s not meaningful. The scene in the party, where the dude seems to concede his crush is talking to another guy, only to be surprised by her kiss when the song picks up with that little riff. What a beautiful moment that has probably happened to so many of us. That high we get when we realize the person we like actually does like us back. But like the song says, it was never meant.
Listen'd to this today at work and loved every second. I wasn't as impressed with the lyrics as I was the instrumental, but it was still fantastic. Can't wait for the new album!
Even with my own statement I think words are very important because even my own self I said let............ Now I understand how powerful words can really be all the isms don't really work for me sorry about that maybe try harder I guess but I can really see the power in the word that I just said let........

You know what really sucks about you man I used to love your music I'm talkin asob but you keep getting so political but I understand why now because you're a New Yorker and I can tell you this we don't want communism I get it you're younger than me you don't quite understand what communism really is but keep going down the path you're going and you'll see what it really is I mean you're not going to really see what it is because you're rich and affluent now but the rest of us will know that's why we fight you over it I promise you that........
