Moments of Meaning is a for-purpose movement devoted to demystifying psychotherapy. We passionately believe in the power of psychotherapy to bring healing and growth to human lives, and by consequence, the world. We are real therapists telling real stories about what really happens in psychotherapy. We are building an archive of human transformation to encourage deeper engagement within relationships and life. To find out more go to www.momentsofmeaning.org
Well you never even answered the question. Because you chose not to say because in reality its all about the money. Not love or genuine care. Clients are just a file you put back in the cabinet after the hour. Then onto the next client for more money. Its a cold hard uncaring environment.
Darling Christie, this video shows the world what you were-beautiful, vibrant, brilliant, and a heart of gold. Your family miss you terribly. I love you always, your husband, Chuck
Christina's intellect, sparkling spirit, professional expertise...will live on and will continue to inspire those of us who were fortunate enough to meet and know her.
So lovely, thank you for sharing this. I've had some different, but parallel experiences that have taught me this lesson as well. So important to be fully present and human with our clients, not to make the therapy about us, but to use our whole selves in the process of helping and connecting. Loved this example of how amazing and transformative that can be, for clients and for us.
Very powerful and impactful but more so very much reality at its core. Additionally I would compliment the actress one hell of a performance my heart was racing! 👏👏👏
The word love is so misunderstood it should not be used by therapists. Most people understand love to be idealisation, unconditional acceptance. Do we accept a person unconditionally? No.
I love this channel so much. I aspire to become a psychologist one day as well so seeing these doctors share their stories and impactful moments have really taught me so much. I hope this channel keeps growing!! :)
Oh no; that's a sad story the client shared 😩 This is the type of stuff I pray I'm able to help my future clients with as a clincal psychologist, but as a student I'm doing well 👍 Awesome video 👏
If you're a good therapist, you are moved by all your patients. We have at least compassion, and sometimes many other feelings. How else could we tolerate the intensity of this work? Or even care?
@@FreudaliciousMind All true, but that's not love, not in the sense the patient meant. Which is fine, of course. Love probably shouldn't factor into this kind of relationship.
Thank you. It's great to hear how therapists view our troubles and develop their insights and how to move forward. Oftentimes therapists are a mystery...mine are to me anyway. I vacillate between they probably know everything about me to there's nothing in here worth knowing so why bother. You share very well.
Thank you very much for your comment, Barbara - and I am so glad that this short story about my work with a couple gave you a window into the process of the therapist and therapy from the therapist's point of view.
Wow... I listen to this and I'm hopeful for my own marriage. My husband and I have never cheated on each other or anything like that but we do both have deep scars from our past and really messed up families growing up. Stuff that's been stopping us from communicating properly. We're married 7 years but have never communicated well since the start. This makes me hopeful to know that there is a possibility of change and improvement. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for this video. And the speech moved me. I have been struggling with deep guilt and shame for most of my life and hearing this made an impact. I really hope you guys can produce more when your time permits. It's really important for people who are going through therapy (I just started 6 months ago) to see and hear things from the perspective of a therapist sometimes. You guys provide that and I'm grateful!
I admire your courage and transparency; such presence of mind and confidence is inspirational in anyone, but especially in an early-career psychotherapist. Cheers!
This is a lovely example of how moments in a therapy office can transform a life. I often have the medical residents I work with ask me how therapy works, and I can now show this video as an example of how depression treatment goes beyond only medicine. Thanks!
Dr. Irwin brings to life in a deeply heartfelt manner, the transformative power of vulnerably risking the sharing of our fears, our pain and our longings for connection with an essential other. Thank you Silvina for sharing such lovely clinical work with all of us.
Sam Jinich Thank you, Sam. I so appreciate your comment - I am glad that the heart of it came through in the story that I shared - you said it so well!
