When you cook it after fermenting, you actually kill all of the probiotics that were created during the fermentation process. Kind of a bummer. Get a PH tester and just make sure it is between 3.6 and 4, it will be shelf stable at that point and not taking up fridge space.
Wonder if the floral would go away with drying? No other hits than floral and a hint of fruit? That one doesn't sound all that interesting other than looks.
I always get worried when eating a new pepper and hope its not floral, that one was pleasant tasting and mild. I just received another box of peppers from Clayton/Macon heat, he threw some extras in the box and I believe this was one of them
Yes we do! I am also wondering how many people are going to look up what that word means. LOL, interesting thought, when I have done to wine tours and thought they had to be making up what flavor notes they were getting because I was tasting it. Now I am doing the same thing.
Gardening is not as glamorous as it is sometimes portrayed on the internet. You did a wonderful job to disclose the truth about having the failures and struggles in your garden. On the brighter side of those struggles is showing the success in far greater numbers from your garden. My outlook on gardening is to seek out and do things that create a story to share with others, staying humble about any success because I do not seek any glory from it. Great video Ralph!
Those store bought cans of wasp killers work instantly and spray a fair distance when new. You can drop the cans in hot water for 5 minutes to boost the pressure up even higher. I had to take down one of these years ago while on a ladder 😳. The spray killed them instantly and they fell out the bottom. I use a 0-50-30 bloom booster on my “special herbs” and throw it in the fruiting peppers while I’m at it as well as molasses, calcium, Epsom salts and a crushed up multi vitamin once a week.
@@13Peppers just the kind of videos we need in life life is not all glamorous and happy go lucky but hard and a lot of work sometimes .Like gardening putting out a garden of peppers or anything you have to study and work at it .Anyway great job really enjoy your videos all your pain in witch I know I couldn't handle .
I had honey infused with Habanero the other day. It was really good but not sure how it was made. Im assuming capsaicin oil because there is no pepper pieces in the honey....
You mentioned the Portugal pepper. I grew it once, years ago, and it grew a beautiful fruit that looked and smelled deadly but unfortunately had no heat. It was interesting seeing a pepper growing 1/4” per day for a while though. I focused on the best pod and took one picture a day from the same spot to see the growth.
That pepper had a nice burn and looked great, but the taste was not great to eat fresh. It also wasn't the worst tasting pepper I had this year, blood orange bbg was the most floral pod yet 🤢
I grew some gypsy peppers this summer, and made them into "hot-sauce", using a few other varieties that I grew as well. I called it "Sweet Gypsy sauce". Looking forward to growing many more!
Not sure how you feel about a marijuana Ralph. But I recently made a marijuana infused hot sauce with Habaneros, Salt, Carrots, Tomato, Garlic, Onion, Vingegar water and Marijuana of course and pie oh my was it tasty. And the effects 30 minutes later fun as well . Greeting from New Mexico 🌶️ home of the chile peppers.
New to this channel, but loving the content, ima hot sauce enthusiast so I’ll be sure to try some of your recipes. Btw the beard looks good bro!keep up the work 👍🏼
Looks like a baby bell and I could see the oil on your knife 😳. I see your Spider Man comic there and I’d like to tell you that I really enjoy the music from the animated series of 1967-69. You look to be a similar age to me and I think you might like it too. The first season is original music and the final 2 use music from the KPM library.
Hey Ralph, my arms are on fire now from harvesting four 7’ tall “Incredible Hulk” plants. My superhero alter ego, Gan ja Claus, will have lots of goodies to give out for a year or more 😎. Anime music, check out Michiaki Watanabe, Eccentric sounds of spider man, Mazinger etc. Also, RU-vidr Tripmaster Monk has a cool 45 minute mix of music from Japanese martial arts movies from the 60’s and 70’s. All killer, no filler.
I just made this sauce and it is awesome ! Thank you for the recipe. I put it in botle with ceramic lid. Do you think it will be shelf stable as well ?
The elusive KS Starrburst or one of its other coloured sisters is one I hope to grow someday. The seeds seem to be rather elusive. The Bahamian Goat is another one high on the list. I saved seeds from a real Jamaican grown 4 lobed yellow bonnet that I specially cherry picked a package for. Was around 28 grams that I remember. Good call on replacing the earth as you might get a fresh start this way. Did it work out ?.
Actually it did work with replacing the soil. I just received a Bahamian Goat pod and will be saving seeds for next year. Yes, it took a few tries to get a good pheno of the starburst.
A very common way to make hot honey is, cut the peppers in rings. Put them in a jar of honey. And let it sit in a cool, dark place for 2 to 4 weeks. After that you could either strain the peppers out or leave them in. But your honey is done!
Why do those look so red? My 7 pots are more chocolatey colored and most other times I see them they are chocolatey colored. Just curious why yours are bright red?
That's a good question. Are you saying the peppers in the vinegar are turning moldy? I have a bottle that is over a year old that the peppers have broke down and need replaced but it is not moldy. If its the peppers that are out of the vinegar then they have not been dehydrated enough and have just enough moisture to start molding. Freezing is always an option to save the peppers before use.
Hi Ralph, you're passion is very obvious and you really put your time in these video's, one can tell. I'm so surprised the masses have not yet discovered this hidden jewel of a channel. Keep it up!
I have one of these growing in an aerogarden. Beautiful plant, but I can leave the pods. Any pod with Pimenta de Neyd genetics is pretty much trash. (It’s a Pimenta de Neyd crossed with a Bhut Jolokia Red btw, exactly like a Black Panther, just different phenos)
I think I’ll try a 5 gallon pot next year with a bonnet. My Scorpion plant is at about 2 dozen fruits in the same 2.5 gallon pot. I did get nice genetics though I think, I pulled a 20 gram csb off today.
The Thunder Cacho Brown Pepper is a cross from the Thunder Mountain Longhorn and the Cacho Negro. And it looks like the Cacho Negro pepper because of its shape and structure, you might have got some of those seeds, or the pheno of that plant dominated. The other pepper you have is more like it's Cayenne cross. But before you get the Chocolate Cayenne, the Cayenne strain needs to crossed with the TCBP x. CH variety strain, which was originated in Denmark. Therefore it's probably different in spice and taste, but it might be a unstable strain so who knows, try it....great Video as always...Thanks Ralph 🌶
6:10 little math trick: cut both of those uneven halves again in half. And you each eat one small quarter and one large quarter and then it'll be even.
i could be wrong but believe fresno peppers was in the original American made sriracha. i prefer the flavor over jalapenos. I live in Ohio and could. not find fresno peppers anywhere. even contacted a couple online suppliers who basically ignored. my request i was lucky and found some on a trip to Mississippi at a farm stand to make almost a quart. inthe last 3 years I've fone a gallon to share with family
@13Peppers you're. welcome. have fun. I don't use vinegar in mine and the whole family loves it. if you have plenty try fermenting peaches with the fresno peppers about 3 or 4 to a quart
