Mr Darcy's voice is like butter and honey....not weird to like. But give poor Mr. Collins some credit. If he had only married one of the sisters, the family would not lose their home.
There's another older British TV series which is also amazing. This is my favorite Jane Austen novel. I also read books about the era when Jane Austen lived in and it is eye opening and gave me a deeper understanding of how all the characters behaved the way they do. I have to say that as a woman, there's no other time in history that I'd rather live in than modern time. We have come a long way.
06:29 Nadia: "Her family is honestly kind of embarrassing... Do they ever stop giggling?" LMAO! Now, now please don't do the Bennetts like that. More Bennett girls giggling 06:40 *Nadia shaking her head*
Back in the day rich people like that would have a house full of expensive arts and crafts, so I think it was maybe like going to a gallery or a museum. The rich could show off their wealth that way. You would see woven tapestries and paintings on the walls, interesting and intricate furniture, expensive fabrics, busts and other sculptures etc. And of course well maintained gardens.
When Mr. Darcy turned Lizzie down it was because he wanted to keep an eye on his friend and see who was interested in him. He didn’t want to be distracted. This is my favorite Jane Austen movie ever. 💞💞💞💞💞
I know this is been quite a while since you did reaction for this, but you should absolutely read the book. One thing they don’t show in any of the movies that I’ve seen is Mr. Darcy‘s internal monologue about Elizabeth. He immediately knows that she is his. That she is his one, but he fights it because he can’t believe it. His kind of internal dialogue he has about why she is not at all right for him, trying to talk himself out of that attraction he has for her is really fun.
Really? That makes it all the more interesting! I was meant to react to the BBC one but haven’t been able to so I might just skip that and read the book
What I love about the way Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice is that she describes her characters’ personalities more than their physical appearance thus leaving it up to the readers to decide what they look like and I appreciate that so much!!
I have seen this movie probably 15 times. I love it and your reaction was perfect. What most modern people don't realize when Mr. Darcy at the first dance says that Elizabeth doesn't "tempt him" and she is barely tolerable etc. it is more his guard is up from mothers constantly trying to set him up and entice him with their daughters because he is so wealthy. The book is good, but this movie changed a few things to make it a bit more drama for today's audiences. IMHO it is the best adaptation yet of the book. Also a very good Jane Austen books-to-movies to watch is Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow. Thank you.
I just watched it for the first time, I’m also far more of a reader, I read far far more then watch movies and I now am thinking of reading it, my mother says it’s full of “fluff” so she didn’t enjoy it but I’m not sure if that would be such a bad thing to be as what some may consider fluff I think of as character building and makes the story have more depth. If you’ve read it by now I’d absolutely love to know if you liked it and if it was just as good or better then the movie.
Jane Austin created alot of tropes.....including my least favorite friends to lovers...but the way she did it I adore and Emma is too this day the only story with it that I will actually fangirl over. Highly recommend reading/watching it if you want a ridiculous romcom. Emma is a brat with a kind heart and we love her for it
