Is this a joke? Why pay so much money to buy google phone and de google it again Buy an affordable Chinese phone, it gives great hardware at an affordable price and de google it.
What a nice surprise! Great to hear you again! Still running my GrapheneOS on my 6A. I really like the fact I was able to further strip it down and walk around without a ton of apps I NEVER used in the first place.
hi! thanks for sharing) but the ending thoughts were not enough for me. i played with private space a bit, but couldn't find how to install apps aside from accrescent, so i have no clue how to use different vpn for selected apps. also i think it would be very usefull for some people if uncover the topic of using play services in private space. some of us who has to use whatsapp for work, may finally get rid of second profile. how good is isolation compared to ising separate profiles?
I can definitely do another deep dive video on installing apps. In short, you can use vanadium to install FDroid or any other App Store, the. Download apps with that App Store. You bring up a good question about app isolation from the personal space apps. I don’t know the answer but I’m hoping someone else can answer or maybe GrapheneOS will update their website soon with more detail around Private Space app isolation. If you want to use Play Store and WhatsApp, you could probably install Sandbox Google Play Services/Store from the GrapheneOS App Store, then download WhatsApp from the Play Store. Then you can have WhatsApp running during work hours, and lock the Private Space once works hours are done and be separated from work. Again though, not sure on the implications of running Play Services in the main profile private space and if there’s good isolation as if you were using a secondary profile. We’ll see once more documentation comes out.
thanks for answering. i found "Private Space on Android 15 GrapheneOS" topic on the official discussion forum (can't include a link, so copy+paste what's in quotation marks), it is very useful. at this time it seems that private space isolation is as good as secondary user profile. wish you good day and happy to hear from you again. the more guides u do the smaryer we are
Android 14 had this, except it was called "work profile" and it required a third party app to set it up. Also it could only be done in the phone's owner profile. I'm curious if those new private spaces can be done in a second user on the phone.
Good to know! I’ve never used work profile. Private Space can only be set up in the main profile, I just looked in a secondary profile and option is not there.
@@ThePrivacyWayfinderThen this Private Space is probably just an implementation/use of work profile. Instead of the user having to set it up like with the use of Shelter app. Right? Because there's no work profile on new(non-owner) user profiles
I just installed fresh Graphene OS through Webinstall and I don't see Turn off WiFi automatically option at all. Do I miss anything? EDIT: Found it. It's under Security & Privacy -> Exploit protection
Aloha, this is a great channel it's been a year or two since I saw this channel I'm still on iOS and have always been looking to get into graphene OS but haven't made the switch yet. I was wondering what is the emergency call feature like holding power button and volume or clicking 5 times. I hope you do more graphene OS teachings. Thank you as always.
Great tutorial vid, hopefully an updated version of this is planned, it seems with the latest Graphene that many things have changed, be they additions/removals or change of location for certain options.
I have a very specific question regarding Contacts (Email, phone numbers, addresses, etc) in GrapheneOS.....specifically, how does one IMPORT contacts from Android? on my Android 14 Google phone, I have hundreds of contacts. I bought a used Pixel 6 Pro and did a fresh install of GrapheneOS yesterday, and everything seemed to work perfectly, but now I'm lost as to how to import thos Android contacts from my other Android 14 phone. I surely don't need to manually enter them one by one? I tried installing (temproarily) the Sandboxed Google Play / Services etc to install Textra and import my contacts from Google, but that was also not successful, so I uninstalled the Google Play / Services again. Sitting here with an empty Contacts apps, and feeling a little sorry for myself! :-) Can anyone give me some pointers? I saw an old Reddit that said that the GrapheneOS SMS app has an Import function but I don;t see it on yesterday's Raven distribution after I installed. HELP! 🙂
Why does GrapheneOS still have no proper firewall to replace root solutions like awesome AFWall+? Current so-called-firewall of GrapheneOS is a joke, completely not flexible.
Privacy noob here, sorry! Question......I don't have a Pixel to run GrapheneOS YET (but is planned!).....so with a Motorola Thinkphone running Android14, I tried to NOT install Google but the Android new phone setup process (I did a full factory reset to start fresh) REQUIRES that Google is setup as part of the initial setup process. Is this a given with Android 14 or is there a way to install those more private Play Stores without the Google Play Store? Excuse my ignorance! PS Thanks for the walkthrough of your apps....this is VERY useful for me! Subbed and Liked and video saved on YT (yes, I know....YT!!)
That’s great that you are interested in the topic and GrapheneOS. I’m was nervous at first but I’m almost 3 years into it using GOS and will probably never go back to iOS as long as GOS is still around. On stock Android, you can download fdroid, droidify, obtanium, etc., from your browser, install those app stores, then use those app stores to download apps without using the Play Store or being signed in to Google. Unfortunately, Google will still be running on the device, but you can still use privacy respecting apps!
If only it was this easy for me. I've been trying to turn on ADP for a week. I've updated all my devices, signed everything in again, generated new keys, re authenticated everything......nothing works. I keep getting a 'server error please try again later' message. Turning on a simple feature shouldn't be this difficult, and I'm about to give up from even using iCloud as a result anyway.
