Great set of two albums, this and EWBAITE, really strong song-writting, Weezer showing they can still do it. Pacific Daydream and Black Album has Rivers going back to some of his more attempts at branching out into outright Pop, I hate Pacific Daydream personally but enjoy Black Album more as I feel like it's more creative/eccletic.
@@GarroottTo be fair, SOME people like it, it's more of a divisive album rather than the outright hated Raditude. I guess, a little bit of background, some context could help, I'll try to keep it brief as much as I can; When Rivers was writting The White Album, his label manager convinced him to call it the "White Album", at first Rivers was reluctant, as he was sick of the colours, but the manager said that he could call it the "White" album so then he could make a "Black" album counter-part, which excited Rivers, he loved the idea. Black album was supposed to be this "electronic, album with a lot of samples and swearing" as Rivers himself said, something without a big emphasis on guitars, or have them being the main instrument, something more atmospheric, psychedelic. But when it came to writing it, it was incredibly troubled, so Pacific Daydream is sort of "outtakes" during this time that didn't fit the theme or idea of The Black Album, it's sort of an album that had to come out due to how long Black Album was taking. You can find interviews of Rivers discussing The Black Album as soon as the White Album came out.
I had this cd rocking in my car all summer until I got a DUI..... But Endless Bummer is still an anthem of all time, I have been pining for a girl who was away for the summer. So that feeling of waiting for a summer to end really hit with me.
So the thing with the dark bridge in Girl We Got A Good Thing is that the song is about a codependent relationship. the original demo was very heavy handed on this idea (it was literally called codependent and it also sucked) so its totally reasonable to not assume the song's about that
The deluxe edition has two incredible songs on it, “Friend Of A Friend” and “Fake Smiles And Nervous Laughter.” It makes me wish they broke the ten song pattern for this one.
Best Weezer album ever!! I didn't know you were from Hawaii, that's my favourite place in the world! You have to listen to the Deluxe version with the bonus tracks, some other gems there too.
Died when you starting singing across the sea on California kids 😂 anyways good shit (Spotify lyrics is pared with musixmatch which is sometimes inaccurate, genius is preferred most of the time)
@@F1NK0X yeah I relied on genius for the ones that didn’t show on Spotify, but when it’s on Spotify it helps the viewer experience imo. I still have genius open tho to gain extra context (if any lol)
@@thecakeislying Some songs are good, but you can’t deny that “Opening Night” was kinda really horribly written. It has some great melodies though, I can’t deny that!
@@maple_henlo I dunno, opening night works quite well as a silly opener for me. still im a raditude defender so i think weezer has rotted my brain until i revel in the cringe songwriting
i personally think crab is a synonym for masturbating lol. “crab if you need it, she put her knickers on” she put her pants back on and you need the pleasure still.
btw i got this theory from the podcast “are you a weezer fan?” if you’re interested on more lore around weezer they go in detail for every moment of the bands history. i believe they just finished up the years surrounding raditude
