after a near 30 year gap i fancied building a layout that is loosely based around Truro in cornwall around my childhood days of the 70s and 80s BR blue era with a bit of steam seeing as it was withdrawn the year before i was born!!!!! Penwithers is home of the class 52 Westerns being one of my favourite locos ,have had the good fortune to actually drive Western Courier and to also ride in the cab when going to school from Plymouth to Truro
Heljan just seem crap to me... I won't touch them with a barge pole, wait until you accidentally break something and want a spare part... you've more chance of buying rocking horse s#@t. I've got five locos, 3 class 47s and 2 class 86s that I've tried to get spares for for 25 years and they're just sitting in their boxes probably to never see the light of day again.
Hi, that is such a great crane you have there, best unmotorised model I’ve seen, I wish Bachmann would produce it in yellow livery and some long flat bed wagons to go with it, thanks for sharing.
Nice, I have a green one on the way. Its good to see what to expect in terms of running issues from the box. The pick ups seem to be a problem with them all.
Tell me a bit about the DRS coaches on the nuclear flask train. I have the locomotives and flask car and would very much like to add some coaches like these.
I admire your tenacity and patience working on the roof. From the metre or so distance, when converted to 1:1 scale, the individual sheets would not be noticable, being only 1.2millimetres thick. It is only when the rust starts that they become obvious, and then you would not see the thickness translated to 1:76. I am an Australian where 90% of roofs are corrugated iron, and nearly all sheds and carports are clad in the same material, so I have had ample time to mull over this problem. I cover my buildings in full sheets, and then mask up some of the sheets and give them a burst oslightly different hue than its neighbours. The thickness of a coat of paint is about right scale..
Thank you for the great video. I have enjoyed the work as it helps me with my recovery from my brain tumour and stroke as I try to get back to my modelling I mention my illness so you know who is watching and why Thank you again 😂
@@kevintregunna Although Bachmann make some amazing models that other manufacturers frown at their prices are criminal! If they lower the price they would sell more, I feel sorry for the retailers whom pay a shed load of money for items that could sit on the shelf and get forgotten about.
You have a great layout! Couldn’t help but notice that your vans have squeaky wheel-sets. This can be cured with some graphite powder - just run a pencil round inside the pinhole axle box. I don’t have a layout now - used to years ago, but get my fix through my subscribing to quite a few modern image channels on YT (Chadwick / Everard Junction / Dean Park, etc.) and spent just over forty-one years working on the real thing (in signal engineering). My mate is building a model railway and I’m looking forward to helping him with it. Best wishes from Wirral.
I have the similar model of 55015 from Accurascale bought via the Deltic Preservation Society, but mine is only for display. It is certainly an impressive and imposing model and very nicely detailed. But I think models are becoming almost too detailed (and overly fragile) nowadays, plus the eye-watering prices being charged - its all a long way away from those early Wrenn / Triang days of simple models! Thanks for uploading this.
Thanks very much for this! I have just bought the same model which I intend to use on my mates layout. The model really captures the look of the Romanian-built Grids. When I service the model, I will know how to dissemble and reassemble everything now. Gulp! Best wishes from up here on Wirral!
@@kevintregunna Can you please explain me how you keep the roling stock on the track ? What's the real technology behind ? I would like to make my own handmade cars from Hot wheels scale model cars !
Thanks for taking the time to make these two videos. My husband and I saw Petit Properties at Warley at the end of last year, and he gave me a kit for Christmas. So finding this video has given me some extra ideas. Love the technique and it looks realistic :)
New camera's done the trick. We ummed and arred about the fell for a long time, but it's too far out of the interest range. I'm enjoying yours...but glad we passed! ATB, Andy.
Yes KR have had some pretty poor feedback on these, it's not right at all, it really needs bogie pickups some have pinched some off Hornby model spares and transplanted them on to the Fell, and it has helped, I know Jenny Kirk has been mentioned but the thing is.... we shouldn't have to do this... A few are worried regarding an orders and what they actually might receive I've Ordered Leader and I have to say so far we aren't impressed. They just haven't done the research... and won't accept help, unfortunately I expect KR won't last.
Hi Kevin, did you see Jenny Kirk tips on adjusting the pick ups on the fell a couple of days ago might help you I wish I never bought mine a lot better locos to spend my money on cheers Al
We have missed you mate. Happy New Year! Never saw a Deltic down in Cornwall but Rule 1 applies of course. Hope to see some more videos from you in 2023. Mark
Great to see you back mate hope you have had a lovely Christmas you and the family did Santa bring you any train stuff?? I do like this loco it looks mean sounds great cheers Paul
Dear Kevin - wonderful to see you back online, Merry Christmas (belated) and a Happy New Year, I hope that there'll be more videos coming out this year. How is that O Gauge Western coming along?? Best wishes Michael
