my husband has been going through huge amounts of stress that has been causing him to lash out and think things that aren't true. i'm really struggling how to make him see himself the way i do. to redirect him somehow and i'm failing. i feel so lost. 😭
She was obsessed with this idea of me cheating on her. So many times she'd just scream adamantly that I did something and SHE KNEW IT but when I asked for any proof or evidence she never had any because they were pure delusion in her mind. It's actually frightening how illogical some people can be while still pretending to an air of sanity. Glad to be rid of such a person - it's not that she's a bad person but she doesn't take accountability for her destructive emotions and delusional tendencies. I tried to tell her about it but she thinks she has no flaws and apparently it's okay to punch me in the head and give me two black eyes. Dreadful and disgraceful woman.
People like this usually end up Having their delusions catch up with them ,then they hide. Now starts their "shame based behavior" yet ANOTHER disorder
I'm 34 and I still live at my parents. My father is 76 and he clearly shows signs of delusions. He has been diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder as well as schizoid personality disorder. After a brain surgery to remove a tumor, he was left with a brain injury. He is in complete denial about his condition. He believes he will become the richest man on earth by 2033. He thinks he invented a new source of renewable energy and he compares himself to Einstein. He doesn't believe his wife (they've been together for 35 years) when she tells him he is out of touch with reality. He believes he has savant syndrome due to his brain surgery and that he also have aspergers syndrome. During the last few years he sued the shit out of everyone. He said: "I hate feeling being persecuted". He wants to show everybody he is right but the thing is, he lost every single cause and he still believes to this day, that he is the one in the right. To be fair he won 1 cause over 27.
I'd rather tell a boss like that what I actually think of their bullshit and lose my job then delude myself into thinking the situation is funny. Oh to be a 3 eyed punky lil kitty. It's the life for me.
I know someone that's schizophrenic with "the lost cause" delusions, they claim to be healthy and not crazy and won't seek help how am I supposed to get this person help
I'm in the same boat. Ultimately, if they're not your kid and underage, it's not your problem. Call the police for a welfare check maybe, if that seems safe with your country, but beyond that I'd advise just not interacting with them further. I have a delusional stalker atm and thats how my therapist suggested I deal with it

It’s hard sometimes to not show on my face that these individuals with this type of mindset are very disturbing to be around. My smile would be fake because how can you not see and recognize disturbing behavior.

It’s actually illusion not delusion. Delusional disorders mean that someone is literally not in touch with reality. I think you mean toxic manipulators who are often narcissistic. They do have illusions about themselves. They project - they gaslight- and they play dumb if it benefits them. But delusional is a word we often use as a common term however it’s actually inaccurate.
It took me about 2 minutes to realise this video has nothing to do with actual clinical delusional and is just using psych terminology as a cheap weapon against people they don't like.

I tell you what a woman told me when I started out in the army. She was a sergeant E7 and she never talked that much. Finally I asked her why. She told me because of three reasons: 1) Some people are insane and it's wise to find out who they so I can avoid them or find out how to handle them. 2) Some people are out for themselves 24/7/365 and they're looking for me to say something that they can reinterpretate to use against me. 3) Some want to curry favor with me, so they can get advantages. That will show favoritism and it will ruin the cohesion of the my unit.

Delusional actually means, a person who destroys or doesn't fall for illusions. Just because the online dictionaries state the same definition you are using, doesn't mean it is the definition. Mythomania is an excessive or abnormal propensity for lying and exaggerating Delusional disorder is a psychosis where a person believes things that have no basis in fact. I don't think she is describing those types. She names people who have a false sense of self-worth or competence (in the first case) or who are overly harsh or rude or manipulative toward others and don't care (in the second case) or who are neurotic (in some way) but are open to change (in the third case). It's surprising that she groups these types together. It is more like she is screening patients. Some don't think they need therapy. Some don't want therapy. Some may benefit from therapy and may be open to engaging in it.
