Who tf got 900k for a house in this liberal communists economy the majority of americans make less than 60k a year. Oh wait i can get 60 yr finance n own nothing merica. Were not even ur furniture vehicles home n phone are not owned by you. Freedom!😂😂😂
Everything in Olympia is insanely high priced. You can take a 15 minute drive and prices are lower, you don't have people doing illegal substances in front of small children and nobody pees on the sidewalk outside of Fred Meyers. 🤷🏿♂️
The Goldilocks zone is the areas just south of Olympia. Quiet. Open. Close to recreation. Little crime. And a quick 10 minute freeway to drive to downtown Oly for urban needs. Country + City = Perfect.
That is not the steilacoom historical museum -that is the Steilacoom tribal museum ( fyi ) the Steilacoom historical museum is located above the Wagon Shop on main St.
I have lived in Olympia for58 years. Long ago I called it a perfect town. Not any longer. Massive crime, drugs, bums, taxation and over regulation. I want to move to a non democrat state.
East of the mountains where sensible, non-Communists live. If you are from California or Oregon, then West of the mountains is what you vote for. Tacoma and Seattle are ridden with crime and liberal lunacy. Beware if you dare!
I have lived here my entire life. This video is full of lies lmao. Homeless people and druggies everywhere, and its just getting worse. Its far from affordable unless you live way outside of town. Our average 3 bedroom house is like $800k. AFFORDABLE. LMAO. Yeah, maybe compared to seattle. Yeah, the parks and stuff are great, but everything else? Lol. Everything has gone down hill here. This was an amazing place to live when my mother moved here.... 30 years ago. Even our governor doesnt live here. There are multiple massive homeless camps, you get harrassed every time you go to the store by people begging for your hard earned money. Without fail, every time. Sadly a lot of the country is like this.... Dont get me wrong, washington is a beautiful, amazing state.... but i wouldn't move to olympia. Even Tenino and centralia, which used to be considered the hillbilly redneck towns near olympia, are cleaner and better to live in than Olympia now. And dont even get me started on Tacoma LOL. Washingtons GANG CAPITAL. Also i absolutely despise realtors like this. They will do anything and everything to get a sale. Saying you love olympia for the community... LOL. You must live in a gated community.
The first thing you'll notice when you drive down Proctor is that there are NO places to park. Also notice that there's an INCOMMENSURATE amount of real estate offices in prime locations where there used to be quaint taverns, mom and pop shops and ethnic restaurants. Be prepared to spend $865,000 to $2 million for any home here. Proctor has lost a lot of its charm due to companies like the live well homegroup.
Why are your commenets turned off on many of your videos ? Are outside views or observations not welcome ? Dosent exactly create the feeling of honesty.
I've lived in Olympia for many many years, and it's gone downhill. Entertainment is pretty lackluster here, even downtown. I wouldn't recommend this place to live, especially if you're under 35 years old. Looking forward to leaving soon.
I live just north of you, just North of Shelton. I've found locals are closed up, more here than anyplace I've visited. In 26yrs I've been invited into only 2 homes.
I grew up in Olympia and I live in a town not too far away. I'm well over 50 years old so I know about the history of this state and Olympia. Thurston County, where Olympia is located, is tax happy. The tax for owning home and property is starting to chase many trying to afford life in Olympia to other counties. It'll be like Seattle soon. That's due to poor leadership at the state, county, and city levels. The city, itself, is fairly well kept, now that the city council figured out homeless people are not good for communities. Olympia is cleaning up its streets as is Lacey and Tumwater. There's still a lot of tagging (graffiti). There are some areas where it's best to not spend a lot of time in, namely the bus hub. That's been partially cleaned up as well but there are still problems there. One problem is people are too nice. They ignore the things that make Olympia unattractive and that sets a comfortable environment for those who don't play nice with others. A lot of businesses left due to problems not being addressed. Most of the school districts are pretty good. Some of them are outstanding. If you have school aged kids, do your research and look for homes in the appropriate area. Luckily, if you work in Thurston County, anywhere you drive is not going to be that far of a drive. If you travel north on I-5, expect traffic to get ridiculous around exit 111 and stay that way for a very long time, especially during the morning and evening hours. Good thing is there are other routes to take to help avoid traffic. Oh, and since there are a lot of environmental protection supporters, consider there will be limits with what you can do with your land. It would be best to purchase a house with property already established as a farm or with a horse pasture rather than creating your own. Okay, one of the really good things is the salmon run in late August through October. If you have never seen a salmon migration, there are plenty of areas with opportunities to see it. Yes, it rains a lot here but, during the summer, it would be challenging to find skies more blue than in Western Washington. The surrounding area has a LOT of recreational resources but expect to pay high prices for permits to access some of that recreation. Still, it's worth the investment. People are friendly around Olympia, for the most part. But they're also politically one sided so if you don't support the same political party, you might want to be careful of what you say if you want to avoid conflict.
My kids complained about the piles of needles on their walk to school. Police said it took to much time to keep cleaning them up. Maybe they got around to it lately?! Plastic straws illegal - plastic syringes okay!
Very true! They are also building apartments like crazy and taking over subdivisions with these bring Tacoma down here. Some of the out door things they say are true but this has turned in a liberal cesspool with them “allowing” homeless to sleep on your sidewalks and needles everywhere. Also taxes are through the roof!
I lived in Lacey from 1986 to 1992. I loved it out there! We bought a house in Eagle Crest subdivision off of Meridian Rd in December 1987. My (ex) husband and I were only 23 and 22 yrs old when we bought our house at 4006 Indian Summer Dr SE- it was brand spankin' new at the time and we were the first owners! We paid $79,900 at the time for it! There were only about 10 homes built so far on the street. We had a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainier out of the second story 2 front bedroom windows. I just loved that view and STILL miss it! The rest of that area was initially fields but we watched that whole plan be built over the next 4 yrs before we moved away! I haven't been in the state of WA since but would love to get back there some day. I live in PA now- where I was born and raised. I'm a RN and I worked at Capital Medical Center in Olympia and prior to that, Mason General in Shelton. My ex was AD Army stationed at Ft. Lewis. It's so weird to hear Lewis and McChord be called JBLM now..... We have always been so proud of buying a brand new house at such a young age! I remember finding out in Feb. after we moved in that I was pregnant with our first daughter. She will now be 36 in October. This all brings back such beautiful memories....❤🗻
That's amazing! Thanks for sharing. Sorry we are just seeing this now, our notifications got turned off. You should be proud of yourself for buying at a young age! Hopefully, you can come back to the area some day!
Lacey does not have a downtown. There is North Lacey, and South Lacey. The northern part of South Lacey (Lacey proper) has the Lacey Town Center between the Chehalis Western Trail and College St. That is the main business district/neighborhood in Lacey. Everything else is just suburban single- family sprawl.
@erome1488 I personally haven't ventured into Downtown Oly too often since the pandemic. Last time I knew there was Burial Grounds Coffee, Batdorf & Bronson, and a couple other places I haven't tried. There are also a few awseone coffee shops around in and around Lacey as well. Olympic coffee roasters on Pacific (accross from Fred Meyers), Coffee Elite on Marvin Rd., and Cutters Point coffee on Pacific near Post Office, and one accross from Costco on Marvin.
We have lived five miles outside of Seattle for over 23 years and I was never a fan for many reasons. Honestly, I actually look forward to moving out of the King County area when my husband retires in three years. To each his own as they say.
Stop trying to over inflate people’s neighborhoods. This is so disgusting if I lived in Olympia I would be so pissed. I’m pissed and I don’t even live in Olympia. Leave peoples little piece of normalcy while they can loser
