I can't understand HOW Ottawa managed to clinch a playoff spot despite being on a 4 game LOSING STREAK... Like, HOW??? They are undisciplined (the worst team on total penalty yards), they are having injury problems... they're not looking like a playoff team right now. But they still can get a home East Semifinal game if they'll beat Toronto at road (easier said than done with 2-6 away record) and then beat Hamilton at home. I want them to figure themselves out, I really want that. And Roughriders can get a bye and host a West Final game. Both Roughriders and Blue Bombers have one game left in their schedule and they'll both play it on the last week of regular season. That will be the last two games of the regular season. Blue Bombers will play against Alouettes at road and if they'll lose, Roughriders will have a chance to clinch a home West Final game for themselves with a home win against Stampeders. The only two playoff spots that are certain are Lions playing a road game in West Semifinal and Montreal Alouettes having the best record in the regular season, bye and the home East Final game. And if Hamilton will beat Stampeders at home next week, Stampeders will officially have the worst record and possibly the first pick in the CFL Draft next year. Elks already forfeited their first and eight rounds picks by picking two Canadian players during the season in the supplemental draft (WR Zach Mathis and DT Antonio Alfano).
1K Chain for receivers? YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! They deserve that as well as running backs for their 1000+ yards rushing seasons. McInnis, Justin Hardy, Reggie Beggelton, Samuel Emilus - they all deserve it. Tim White is just 2 yards from 1000+ yards season. Geno is just 18 yards from 1000+ yards season. If they will end with 1000+ yards receiving - they all deserve a chain. It's not that easy as people think. PS. Walter Flecher deserves 1K Chain as well for his 1000+ yards of offense (711 yards rushing and 587 yards receiving, almost 1300 yards in total), he's the best double-threat player in the league and no one is even close to him.
Roughriders beating of Lions started with THE 9 BOUNCE INTERCEPTION that turned into pick six. Like... WHAT??? That's the most unfortunate way to lose possession.
With Blue Bombers losing and snapping their 8 game winning streak... you know who has the best winning streak right now? ROUGHRIDERS. 4 wins in a row right when it is needed the most.
Edmonton Elks... they look like they finally started to figure themselves out. I hope that they would keep the ascent going. They need to keep guys like Geno Lewis (7 game streak with receiving TDs, he helped me quite a lot in winning a 110 Yards Fantasy League as he become one of the most reliable players to score points), Justin Rankin (who is a phenomenal mid-season pick-up that changed the whole complexity of Elks offense in a good way), Loucheiz Purifoy, Nick Anderson... they need to figure out who's gonna be their QB as MBT wasn't as bad as many other QBs in the Elks losing era, he kinda figured himself out eventually and won a few games. Tre Ford... he's... I don't even know. He has some strengths for sure like his phenomenal running game, but he needs to improve on his passing even more to become a serious threat.
Calgary... that might be one of the worst if not the worst season they ever had. 0-7 at road (with two games left, both on the road), 4-4-1 at home... they started kinda good with 4 straight home wins but then everything crumbled down.
I feel SO BAD for Elks... to lose and be eliminated because of the FUMBLE... 8th loss by one score this season... Team's inexperience shines through with those losses. They needed to win at least a few of those close games. For the first time ever both Stampeders and Elks are eliminated. Alberta won't have a team in Canadian Football League playoffs... So... Roughriders will clinch a home playoff game with a win against Lions next week. And no, if Lions will win, Roughriders would still have a chance to clinch a home playoff game, they would need to first ensure that Lions would lose to Alouettes and then beat Stampeders. That tie game might be very helpful.
Maier is not good at making good decisions. He is not the answer in Calgary. Dickenson is not a very good coach after listening to his interview etc. Time to rebuild the Stamps.
BTW. That moment wasn't shown in the highlights, but Cam Echols got knocked out on the kickoff return by Terrence Ganyi and it took like... I don't know, maybe 15 minutes to take him off the field. He was able to stand up, but he was looking dazed and he wasn't able to walk off on his own so he was taken off sitting on the injury-cart. That hit on Echols by Ganyi was clean. No head-to-head contact, just a very hard tackle that knocked Cam out for good.
BTW. It was a Gravy Bowl. BC Lions had a chicken party after the win. Nathan Rourke was having a blast eating chicken and he thanked defense for helping getting a very important win.
Speaking of guardian caps, I'm all about players safety in any team sport. Especially in gridiron football with all the concussions and CTE and ALS. The safer players are on the field - the better.
Speaking of Matthew Shiltz, he did play and score a TD in his first drive this season. I think that we might see him starting last three games because Calgary is already eliminated.
What a game by Lions defense. MATHIEU BETTS WITH A 70 YARD PICK 6... WHAT??? He said in the interview after the game that nothing makes sense in BC anymore because he had a pick 6. TJ Lee with a fumble forced and recovered for a TD. BC scored 17 points in 3 minutes and 8 seconds all thanks to those 2 defensive TDs that happened very quickly after a field goal by Sean Whyte at the start of the 4th quarter. BC scored 20 points from turnovers. One pick 6 and one fumble returned for a TD and one fumble and one interception were converted into field goals. Sean Whyte was good as per usual. Not a great game offensively, but defense was phenomenal.
Stampeders are TOTAL GARBAGE. They're on the 7 game winless streak... that last happened... IN 1977 when they actually lost 7 games in a row (this time they tied once). Their worst winless streak in CFL is 10 games in a row in the start of 1976 season when they went 2-12-2 (that was before CFL had 18 games for every team in a regular season that was first introduced in 1986 season) and that includes an 8 game losing streak (they lost first game, tied with Montreal in the second game, then lost 8 in a row). And they are winless at road. 7 road games, 7 road losses. And I can't even explain why they're so bad. On paper they're not that bad... but for some reason they just can't find a good rhythm. Their 18 season streak of making playoffs is over. That was actually the longest active streak of any pro team in North America... too bad that Stamps suck so much.
For me Winnipeg is run-heavy when it's time to drain the clock when they're having the lead in the second half. But they still have enough passing plays to catch defenses off guard. It's a very well-balanced offense that knows what works best for them.
But yeah... Scamilton scammed themselves. Tim White not catching an EASY touchdown pass was the turning point for the game. And dropped interceptions as well. Twice. Like... Winnipeg was giving some chances, but Scamilton didn't took them.
So, Hamilton can make playoffs only one way. If Toronto SOMEHOW will lose all the remaining games (WPG at road, OTT at home and EDM at road) and if Hamilton will win both remaining games (CGY at home and OTT at road). Chances of that happening? Less that 0,01%. They needed to win this week to still have a real chance. Toronto will win at least once for sure and that will end the chase.
@@coachphilreacts No. With both Lions and Roughriders having 8 wins they both clinched and West Division is done for this regular season, the only question is with who's gonna play at home in playoffs. Hamilton can only clinch the third spot in the East.
@@coachphilreacts And the thing with home playoff game in west. If Roughriders will beat Lions at home, they will clinch a home game. And if Winnipeg will beat Toronto at home, they will clinch a West Final home game.
@@coachphilreacts Agreed. Even if Argonauts are very inconsistent this season (haven't won or lose for more than two games in a row), they're still capable of winning at least one game. I guess they will win against RedBlacks. Especially because it's a home game for them and RedBlacks are not good at road this season.
@teo_heel Why did Tim White, beat the winnipeg defender, wide open near the end zone, then push/swat the football away instead of making the reception.... because Tim White was not trying to catch the ball or score a touch down, which is the role a WR serves....? Hmmmm....?
@@Aphelion-q3z5b No, he didn't swat the ball, he just wasn't able to catch it. Not the first time it happened this season with him. And you still didn't explain what's up with Celestin Haba. Explain yourself and don't try to look like an idiot.
@teo_heel Celestin Haba, six foot two, 250 pounds, employed by Wpg Blue Bombers to tackle QB's, fall on his face instead of tackling the QB uncontested? Yes Mr. Haba was nudged from behind then proceeded to fall, isn't that a penalty? No, because the down in question was designed for the offense to make forward progress, with help from Mr. Haba and the referees....
Hey cotch I just whanted to congratulate your riders on makeing it in to the post seson for the 1rst time in 4 years I really like what corry mace has done this year ennyways trey ford Is gone becuse the elks have pissed him off so that game agienst winipieg might verry well be his last game as an elk witch sickens me to have great qurterback prospect and athlete and absolutely disregard him the thing is calgry needs a qurterback evreyone has one except for the stamps so ford unfortunately could verry well go to the stampeeders trey does not whant to be here in this situation so where he is a backup and evreyone else has a qurterback except for the stampeeders right now so unfortunately it's ether he goes there or he might not comeback to the cfl agien sadly so just bad aset management by edmonton
Wait... CFL didn't show a punt from Stefan Flintoft that ended on the scoreboard? Yeah, the ball hit the scoreboard and somehow didn't fall down as it managed to land in the area with all the speakers. There're some fun photos of that, like when that scoreboard showed a photo of a ball near speakers with "Send help" message.
