Attention TRIDENTIOSAURUS Was a feathered dinosaur hoax that was put together by some jerk who assembled different animal fossils, and put them together with feathers attached and added a little bit of living tissue color. This was believed, and it was even displayed in museum exhibits until detailed examination and DNA research proved it to be a hoax. Birds do not become lizards and lizards. Do not become birds. This has never been observed in nature.
Thanks. I’ve been having a hard time finding herons this year. I have suspected they might be hunting more on the golf course(s) but it’s hard to access them.
Yeah I do. This bird limped a little as it was walking through this brush and it made me think of two toes. I even zoomed in on its feet to make sure it wasn’t two toes. It was just recently cut brush tangled in its toes. Two toes was the strongest heron I ever watched. I remember feeling the shock waves in my feet when he hit the ground with his bill.
Thanks Rob. I think the gopher eradication efforts earlier this year were too successful and hunting has been tough this year. I think the herons probably have some better hunting grounds but I haven’t found them yet. I was a little surprised to find this bird yesterday.
Wow wow wow, I can’t remember another of your videos where the heron was so persistent! I loved the over the shoulder view at the beginning of the video, I was anticipating a capture from the bird’s perspective. I must say after watching all your videos I still cannot see what the bird sees.
@@jimzenor9148 I expect the birds' hearing is also pretty attuned to the gophers' movements beneath the surface, so that probably helps them hone in on correct striking locations.
Attention! Tridentiosaurus was a proven hoax of a feathered dinosaur that was put together by some jerk who took different fossilized animal parts, and put them together with feathers and attached a little bit of living tissue color to the remains, and this was held in museum exhibits until further detailed examination along with the help of DNA research proved that this fossil was a hoax and not real. birds don’t become lizards and lizards. Don’t become birds.
Yeah they sure do. I feel so inferior to them sometimes in so many ways. Their eyes and hearing are so amazing. These birds are also so quick and precise. They are amazing.
Your videos are so beautifully steady n sharp… appreciate your hours of love & patience in the windy field to bring us these wildlife encounters, without which I’d never get up, get dressed, get going and get to see ❤
I root for the mammals. This is how a predatory dinosaur (non-avian) would dispatch with & then eat a mammalian prey. I find it repulsive, yet I cannot help myself from watching - just to remember...these pretty birds are not mammalian friends.
You’re welcome and I am very happy you enjoyed the video. This particular heron was a favorite of mine. I miss her like she was a pet. I’ve looked a lot lately but I haven’t had much luck. I do miss following a heron as it hunts. I did for a short time yesterday but there it is tough for the herons to find gophers this year. It’s tough for me anyway to find them.
@@inquaanate2393 you may be right. I think it got lucky and pierced its throat when it grabbed it. I think that is why the gopher was wiggling so much when it first dropped it.
Yeah. I have watched a couple night herons hunting gophers on the other side of the park. Although they weren’t successful, they were moving their back side in a very extreme way yet they kept their head still. Great Egrets are really good at that too.
im gegensatz zum heron, machen störche oft den fehler, dass sie den maulwurf lebendig verschlingen, was dann dazu führen kann, dass der maulwurf den storch von innen heraus töten kann.
Yeah in this capture, my slo mo review seemed to indicate that the bird pierced the throat. Many times the herons are somewhat blindly striking at the gophers that try to feed by pulling plants down by the roots into their burrows. That is why they sometimes just strike the dirt and fail to penetrate deep enough to reach the gophers. It is more obvious when the larger great blue herons do it.
