I have some air bubbles and my friend accidentally pushed them in. Do you think if I use a insuline syringe to inject tack into the hole and then push it out, it will be fine?
Hi Eric, I am struggling to get my PPF to stick to the edges well. Fingers keep wanting to pop up after I apply my tack solution (water + alcohol). Do you have a suggestions? Thanks!
If you are adding more tack solution under the film, you likely have too much built up tension on the film. At this point you would likely need to use adhesion promoter to get it to stay down, or redo it completely.
@@DriveProtected okay cool, I did a bumper and half hood on my sti a few years back and think I got a small finger on the hood bc I didn’t add enough slip on the top and pushed hard, otherwise went well, now gonna do my s5 myself, so gonna prep, go going back to RU-vid to refamiliarize…. Polishing, ceramic coat and detailing is no problem, just gonna take the ppf nice and slow. I’m gonna make traditional slip and hot water tack, but I’ll buy a little bottle of gel just for those difficult spots and maybe use them as needed
PPF is a skill I would like to learn and watching your chanel as well as status detailing (in chicago) makes me think I would like it. Almost figured out training with CarPro Immortal but that fell thru as they want you to have your own shop and business already. Too many bad installers out there to trust with a vehicle you have pride in when your a little OCD. You however do amazing work and thanks for sharing your tips and tricks
Thanks for making this video. I drove home with several of this air bubbles today because the tint pro shop assured me that the bubbles will disappear after 3 weeks which he called it the curing period? He instructed me not to touch or do anything with it. Plus some edges of the films did not stick and he also assured me that after 3 weeks take the car back and he will give the car a wash and stick any loose edges with heated gun? Is this acceptable?
@@DriveProtected thank so much for the feedback. I will take my car back to shop tomorrow as the XRPlus Xpel has 10yrs warranty. Should I demand them to redo all the imperfections? Thx!🙏🏼
Got XRPlus Xpel PPF & ceramic coating done on my new car. The installation were not seamless. There are so many water bubbles around the car and loose edges. They told me it will go away and the loose edges will be stick with heated gun after the 3 weeks curing period. Im clueless what the process is, anyone got any intakes?
I can’t speak to the tint, but moisture bubbles, most will go away with PPF. The edges is a lie. If they’re not sealed off now when the car is done, they won’t seal off in 3 weeks. If only it’ll get worse and peel. I’d demand a redo or fix the edges.
how do you prevent getting dust/small dirt under PPF, I noticed it on my hood on few places. Beforehand I visited a shop and it was super clean, but still somehow they managed to fuck it up. Its not bad, but its annoying noticing it when doing a carwash...
Great question! It is next to impossible for PPF installs to come out 100% perfect without any kind of dust or debris. I would say this is one of the top struggles for any PPF installer. Hopefully they took all the necessary steps to prevent it from happening.
Do you need to tack every edge possible or is the tack only for small areas or corners? And then once it dries it will stay adhered to the body when the slip solution's gone without tack? Tack is more of the process, not the have to to make things stay right?
Did you polish the new vehicle first or just clean? I want it looking its best, but if it's more wasted effort Polishing an already new vehicle, if it doesn't make a difference under that ppf? And the fact that it would keep me from having that much more chance of something that could possibly keep it from having the best adhesion. Do you recommend a full polish if the car is new or just a good deep cleaning for best results?
It can never hurt to polish the paint prior to a PPF install if you want the peace of mind knowing your paint under the film is in perfect condition. However, PPF acts as a band aid and hides light scratches and swirl marks quite well. Very seldomly have we polished a vehicle prior to a PPF install. Not worth it in my opinion.
Awesome video, ive done both and ive found pre-cut can be a pain with fingering and not being able to stretch it, definitely prefer bulking bonnets, so you can stretch out those fingers, I notice you squeegee from top to bottom, we do it the other way, does it matter which way you go?
Hey bro does fake water based blood stain PPF? I like to do the fake hands and blood splatter on my cars but this year I have a new mustang and it’s fully ceramic and PPF protected and the whole hood is wrapped but I want to use the fake blood on the hood.
Thank you for sharing! Bulk may take a bit longer, but it's a peace of mind not having to worry about the pattern fitting or not, and I also enjoy the art of cutting!
I just bought myself an Olfa 9mm Knife and the black Carbon Olfa blades and when I was cutting my PPF it was squeaking like it did in your mirror video and it cuts so dang well so I really like Olfa and I had never heard of them before.
The fact that you even posted mistakes makes it that much better for your company because most people want to blame the customer with the “improper pressure washing” or whatever else so that’s amazing that you are humble.
@@DriveProtected thanks man and I’m subscribed and binge watching your videos and I have a few friends that own companies that PPF but I like to do my own and I’m a detailer like they are with the ceramic coating and all that but I only want to PPF my own cars pretty much.
I did one back in the day before we started the RU-vid channel so unfortunately no video. I will be sure to make a video if we get another one in the shop.
Your ppf seems more maleable than mine… hexis is a great film but maybe a bit more thick and less sticky… that’s why it seems to be more difficult to install on my zl1
For this bumper the easiest way is to do one stretch across, before you start squeeging just pull/tack the bottom halves towards the center opening (license plate area) to create slack film, THEN start squeeging the entire thing all around. This eliminates the fingers you had up top center and the stretch marks you obviously got from pulling the sides out after the center was tacked.
I apparently have those door cups installed on my Chevy bolt EUV from the Chevy dealer.. They are full of mildew after just having the car for months. White car so it really is very obvious and looks horrible. Any suggestions?
