I actually just ordered an OP1 Field /o\ I've been tempted for a long time, and had the chance to get it for about 1/3 off retail price. I'm also going away for a while at the end of September and can't really see myself taking my MPC Keys, so this will hopefully keep me creative in a new environment. It should be here next week! Exciting! After ordering it I started looking at cases, and blimey, they are expensive. Not sure I'll be able to afford anything other than a deck saver maybe, and even then I'm thinking I might just keep it in its box. We'll see. I do love the look of the leather case, but man, I could get another synth for that money ;) Stay well! Fave cartoon shows growing up were Battle of the Planets, Ulysses 31 and Dogtanian! :P
Hey mate! One suggestion...dont put background music while you are also making sounds with the machine or its a big confusion. People cant hear you properly, neither the sound of the music, neither the background music. Nice videos anyway. Keep going!
prefer USB-C but have seen many equipment manufacturers use very cheap quality ports to save cost, but that doesn't really have much to do with the format. Cheap connectors don't discriminate,they come in all shapes
It's not the problem of being pulled out - it's the number of times it's plugged and unplugged and how it lasts. I find USB-C connectors definitely lose their reliability far sooner, I have USB-B connections that are 15 years old and still work perfectly.
I don't play live, so USB C is perfect for me as I have an older (2016) Intel MacBook Pro, and that only has USB C ports on it! I have a spare USB cable always plugged into one of the ports so I can easily attach the Minilab 3/OPZ/KOII/MPC37 to it in an instant. Other synths I have like the Arturia Mini/Microfreak get a LOT less playtime as they have USB B, and it's just less convenient/immediate as I hunt around for the right cable/adapter! :)
I love the field, there’s nothing like it, but… I’ve only finished a few songs on it because it’s so tedious. On my mpc live 2, I’ve finished countless songs WITH vocals completely standalone and just mastered them in logic. There’s just nothing like the op, wish there was at a cheaper price.
Have you tried controlling the OP1 with your Nord yet? If it doesn't have usb midi then you can plug your op1 into your opz with usbc, then you can use the line module midi out with a trs to midi din cable. The Novation Keyboard probably well built, but when i tried using a Nord to control my OP1 i can't go back. Also if you want more bass sounds, in most engines tune the filter and go one to two octaves down. If a sound is too bassy then go up a couple octaves. Presets change your octave as well, same with the mic going hot when changing preset. The manual gives you a name for each engine parameter, so that way it's easier to make sounds and do modulations by hand Fun video.

Thanks for hanging out and watching todays long video! There's one thing I discovered about this set up that may be a little bit of a limitation that may prevent this from being my goto set up... but I am going to definitely try it out. Well that "thing" is the fact that the OP-1 field has 6 note polyphony and sometimes when playing the keys, I need more than that... either way, I will try this set up out soon and see how it goes!
The model expansions you played in the video are actually available on the non-EX Fantom, as they are based on the Zen Core technology. The new features of the EX are the ACB (analog circuit behavior) models for the Jupiter-8, SH-101, and JX-3P. These are only available on Zone 1 (in place of a V-Piano tone), and therefore are limited to one per scene. However, they are more accurate to the originals than the Zen-Core models. Also, there is a new German grand V-Piano on the EX. Also, the Korg Nautilus is also a full workstation and can produce full songs (16 MIDI + 16 Audio tracks), although it uses a linear sequencer vs. a pattern sequencer.

I've had one for a couple months and its been totally worth it to me. Yes the price hurt but when I think about it, I have blown over 2k on dumber shit over the years easlity. The OP-1 has been an indispensable creative tool for me and I love bringing it with me everywhere. This thing has allowed me to break from being in the studio for all my ideas. The ability to change environments so easily, the battery life, the sound quality, the novelty, the versatility, and the simple fact that you can turn it on and off anytime and all your settings are right there is awesome. Took me a couple years to get over the price hurdle but I am glad I did.
A little off topic here but I had the OP1 and never really bonded with it. Sampling and multitracking (to a degree) in compact format was the initial idea. So my quest sent me down the rabbit hole; MPC One, Polyend Tracker, Digitakt,... they all failed at being inspiring, creative tools. I found my grail in the often overlooked 1010music Blackbox. Overbuilt, spec'd out and cognitively agreeable workflow; this thing is either a mini Abbleton Live, a 16 track looper, a competent sequencer, a granular synth, a proper sampler and drum machine... The guys who designed this had laser focus on music making, unlike whatever the hell TE is doing with their playful, colorful hardware. I feel they try so hard being clever, that they skimp on usability. Swedes should know better.
@@Khordmaster Oh man, yes, no question. There's a LOT ("lot" is a relative number in our world) of people using it as their centerpiece for a dawless setup as it's super flexible and adaptive but easy enough that you don't need a manual to operate it... and it sounds awesome. This best kept secret is also gimmick-free. I encourage you to look into it. I've been dreaming about this workflow since the 90s. Cheers!

I am playing piano in small cafe shops, and i am thinking to buy that korg, but i do not know if the speakers of the piano are good enough to do that, the sound of this video is fron the speakers of the piano or from that ob that you have, and...you power all with a batery inverter or use the AA for the piano? This was great! I absolutely adore game music! One of my fave soundtracks is from Super Aleste/Space Megaforce on the SNES, my absolute favourite shmup! I'm currently writing some chiptunes using Plogue's Chipsynth SFC - it sounds great, and you can even play SNES tracks within it and sample the sounds from individual songs right in the VST so that Chipsynth uses those. It's wonderful! Previously I've made stuff with LSDJ on an actual GameBoy and recently got the Liven MegaSynthesis for that authentic Megadrive/Genesis sound! So yeah, definitely here for more game stuff from you! :)
sounds like to you it is which is dope! i haven't used that one (yet) but better is definitely subjective right? all depends on what workflow / sounds / etc. speak to you more

I hope it reaches the ears at TE, but I do wish this could've focused on what specific changes you'd like them to make rather than calling out some crazy on the internet. What would make this device worth $2K for you/us? Be you always, but shorter, concise, and focused content on these devices/issues would be awesome, especially for those of us without a TE connection. Your voice means a lot!
