It is really nice to hear that the Beach Jungle will reopen again! :) I wish you all the best for the new start and I am sure it will be awesome again! See you there at this lovely place (hopefully soon).
Thanks buddy. Had it 6 months, daily use and 1 flat tire. Have sold up and moved to Thailand now. Find us on my new RU-vid Channel Experience Koh Chang :)
hey man i live up here just saying alot of the spots youve been fishing your getting way too close to the water, not giving you crap about your fishing but up here weve got massive 3-4 meter long crocs thatll eat you up easily. One of my mates went fishing with his dog and the dog went for a swim and got taken, pretty traumatising for him so yeah just letting you know for next time :)
Appreciate that pal. Certainly staying further back these day. Can only just imagine how traumatising that experience would have been for you mate. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers
Dads life I agree with your advice, my first time in port Douglas I had zero luck but after making changes the jacks are in danger when I go there. Mind you, I go twice every year since 2015.
Very quick decision made by my wife. The fat tire had the suspension so was leaning towards towards comfort. Now having used it for a couple of months, we still appreciate the comfort and sense of safety if ever we were to ride in the wet, or over a stone or something else. It's a comfortable ride and has the ability to go on the sand or offroad etc, I've ridden along the beach a few times and it has been great! It easily does 25km/h on the road
I have had this model for nine months. The bike is fabulous, heavy but fabulous. Do the wide tyres slow the bike or have any negative effect on the bike? No! This bike is a joy to ride and puts a grin on my face everytime I ride it. The fat tyres add to the comfort of the ride and stabilises the overall feel.
Hey mate,I spent a disportionate amount of my youth on that jetty. Some great captures in the late 90s and early 2000s. Big barras, spanish macks and king salmon, queenies among others. Actually,I've noticed we have quite a bit in common loking at your other content. Unfortunately I left Cairns/Innisfail area for good after 20 years in 2019 (now in hervey bay). Loved the koh chang story. I lived in pattaya for one year in 2018 and went to koh samet for songkrhan😁
Hey Daniel, haha I can relate to spending loads of time fishing on a jetty, did the same thing growing up but back in Adelaide. I can well imagine there are some great catches to be had off Palm Cove jetty though. Yea the Thailand adventure certainly was a once in a life time experience and there is plenty more of that story to come. Can just imagine how much fun it would have been living in Pattaya for a year and Songkran is a wild time! How’s life in Hervey Bay? If you have any tips to share for fishing on Palm Cove jetty, don’t be shy :) Cheers
@@danielbowater1585 really appreciate that Daniel, starting to see it takes a bit of effort to reap the rewards and increase success rate.have been thinking about getting a net for a while. When I have a bit of time, I’ll come back to this and check out some more of your stuff. Thanks for sharing, really interesting how life sends you off in all sorts of directions. Hope your health is on track and things are going well. Yea there is lots more of my 3 years in Thailand adventure to share. Am certainly getting close to the story of how I met my Thai wife. I certainly crammed in a whole lot of living in those 3 years of building a running aa hostel in Koh Chang. Hope our son appreciates learning more about his mum and dad when he’s a bit older to understand. Thanks for tuning in and will be in touch soon, cheers :)
@@dadslife9051 sounds good! If you’re fishing land based around fnq a cast net is pretty essential. There are many variations. I’d recommend a ten foot mono variety with one inch gauge. A lot of people try starting with a small net under the belief that it’s ‘easier’ to throw. However, it doesn’t work that way. A bigger net is actually a lot easier to spread but it’s harder to throw long distances. Back in the day I used to have a website explaining all this stuff including step by step tutorial videos, but eventually it looked like it belonged in a bygone internet era so I took it down. It’s great you found a partner who likes life in Australia. Most of my previous Thai gfs made it clear they wanted to stay in Thailand.
Love your vids bro - heartbreaking to hear about Shep. We stayed in touch and I had always wondered why we had lost contact until now 🙁 He was a great guy to have a drink with. RIP James
Oh hey champ! Thanks for the encouragement, I’ll keep ‘‘em coming! Yea dam, he was a great dude and I really enjoyed the chats we had while I was building Beach Jungle. Come to think of it, if it wasn’t for Sheppy recommending me the bungalow to stay in in Bailan, I would never have met Jeen!
Hi there, great little video. Now that's how to introduce a brand new little life into the world of Barra fishing. So great to see your wife, yourself, and your little baby enjoying precious family moments together and catching a delicious meal. That little creek has had some nice fish pulled from it over the years and fishes even better again when the mouth is open to the ocean as it is in one of your other videos. This allows for the creek to be tidally influenced and be cleaned out along with obvious predators such as Barramundi, Mangrove Jacks, Salmon, Flathead, Bream, and whiting to name a few, to enter the system and take up residence. Fishing around the mouth on the tide changes with bait or lures, be it hard body or soft plastics will all definitely work. Did you fish in Thailand at all? Their estuary fishing has quite a number of similar species to us, Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Finger Mark /Golden Snapper, Black and God Spot Cod, Trevally, but they also have the Mighty BLACK BASS which i wish we had, but the closest they come to us is PNG. They do however have a lot of similar reef species to us also. I have been trying to get some lures from over in Thailand that i can't seem to get anywhere but just hit walls with language barriers. I am a mad keen fisherman, but one of my hobbies is collecting lures, i would love to add some of these lures they use in Thailand to my collection. Do you know anybody over in Thailand at all that may be able to help me? If so i would really appreciate it. If you do if ok, would you mind if we chat on Instagram i am DAVE_LOVES_LURES or on Facebook, PRO TUNING, or Dave Kriedeman. If not that's fine. I hope to see more of your fishing videos, especially while that creek mouth is open. I noticed you had a little boat in your carport on another one of your videos. There are some close reefs around Double Island and Scout Cap Islands just near you there. Just be sure to head out on a fine calm day, she can get a bit choppy out there, but some nice reef species to be caught. Anyway, take care, all the best. Happy fishing Kind Regards Dave.
Hey Dave, great to hear from you and thoroughly enjoyed reading your comments. Am fairly new to the area and don’t really know my around fishing these areas, rekon I just got lucky that day! Haha. Am certainly keen to go out for a fish with some Locals here so let me know if you are available. We’ve spent a fair bit of time in Thailand and one of my fishing friends is still over there and might be able to help out. Will connect up with you and we can discuss further. Yup, super happy to have my little boy and wife there when we pulled in that wonderful fish! Thanks Dave, chat soon! :)
Hey mate, that was a pretty cool experience bumping into you like that! Let me know when you are out for a fish next, it’s been a while since I’ve brought home a fish for dinner! Have been busy making a video review of our fav Italian restaurant in Clifton Beach, will post up soon!
just moved to PD as a backpacker. been fishing off the jetty and anzac park, but not really any luck haha. any pointers on spots/ set up would be appreciated. cheers
Hey Riley, welcome to Port Douglas. First time I tried fishing there, I had no luck. Then I came back a couple years later, made quite a few changes and boy did I start bringing home spectacular table fish. Here are some of my best tips: - fish at sunrise - use a single small/ medium hook underneath a light running sinker on a 20lb fluorocarbon leader. - use small pieces of cooked prawn (fresh off the boat) - fish around pontoons and rock walls * try the spot just behind the Quicksilver boat. * don’t be afraid to try out different spots. This will get you bream, mangrove jack, flathead. If you can have another rod with a heavier set up, ready for either a live bait or strip of fresh fish flesh, that might bring you home a Barra! :) Let me know how you go and if you need more detail :)
Thanks for sharing Adam. It sounds really intense to me ! I think that's definitely something lot of us can relate. Reckless, irrationnal & crazy. Three words that sound pretty negative at first but create great stories when combined. Would you say that you escaped the situation at that moment?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment buddy! Hope your training/ teaching is going well! It really was the perfect storm of intense emotions and ambition! Yep, going ‘all in’ on this project took all of my focus, there wan’t anymore headspace left to dwell on the break up :)
I’ll be watching every one of these episodes. As in discussions we’ve had when we came over to check out your dream in Koh Chang, you’ve been an inspiration in what you achieved with your jungle accommodation. Thanks for sharing and we’re looking forward to catching up over beers again when we drop into your piece of Australian paradise.
Thanks buddy! Loved you and your super girl surprise visiting me when I was just getting it going and having those chats and sunset beers together. appreciate the kind works and we’ll catch up again :)
I use to catch the odd jack up that little creek.Next time go down the the southern end of Trinity beach near the rocks late in the afternoon use fresh prawns as bait
I hear ya pal! It’s hard, real hard to detach from what is familiar and comfortable. Taking a chance, a big chance is risky. But for me, if I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t have the family I do now and all that life experience I draw upon every day to make my life and work better and better. If I didn’t experience the break up, I prob would have returned back home without ever starting this adventure. But jeez, I’ve just had the experience of a lifetime so regardless of the difficult times along the way, cherish every moment and hope my son feels proud of his Dad when he’s old enough to understand the story. Good luck buddy!
It is a beautifull story my friend, thank you for sharing and I wish you a long years of happy family life. You wife and son an aboslute gift from gods. My experience at Beach Jungle is absolutely unforgetable and magical, I will keep a very cheerished memory it. Especially seeing you building this paradisiac life from NOTHING ! I saw you sleeping on the floor in the dirt, I saw you in all states of emotions, we brought you roast chicken and we drank lots of mojitos, we laughd and cry, danced and carried heavy stuff and thats what makes it a human experience. Thank you again
My dear friend Anara. That chicken, your company and those mojitos kept me going! You visiting me 3 times on my island meant a lot. Dam that stuff we carried was heavy and it all was as real as it gets!! Thank you for sharing in it with me and writing those beautiful words.
