I’m looking for a little advice I’ve just got some furled leaders but mines has a small loop rather than a tippet ring should I attach my tippet using a loop or a clinch knot 🤷🏼♂️ thanks in advance 😁 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
I honestly don't see how this would work. It doesn't seem to have all that much buoyancy and if any weight was being used to keep the nymph near the bottom of the stream it seems it would just pull the leader underwater.
I suppose the question I'm asking myself is "Do I really want to be buying a leader from a person who doesn't have the knowledge that you open a tapered leader by uncoiling the thick end first". I don't think so.
*These work very well for what they are intended>>>**allabout.wiki/lxtl** They are neatly packed and easy to unravel. I am satisfied so far. I have not used them yet.*
*Very nice leaders>>>**allabout.wiki/lxtl** Came quickly and packaged nicely. I had an issue with my shipping, and Bozeman reached out to me quickly and handled the issue flawlessly. I highly recommend.*
I use and love these leaders for almost all fishing except still water chironomid fishing. I still use a tapered leader for that because I use a Tapered Slip Strike indicator
Love your leaders. Tell your camera people to frame a shot like this with the subject's head near the top of the shot, not in the middle. It'll make it seem like they know what they're doing. ;)
I know you are selling your product but you really show ignorance in showing lack of knowledge in straightening a mono leader. Also you need to shoe the down side of a fueled leader, i.e. what happens when you break free a snag. Can be far worse the untangling a mono leader. But I'll go make some new fueled leaders as I do like them.
Why not just add a link where you can order your lines directly? I mean obviously you want to sell them so why make it next to impossible to find a way to order them???
I just got a hi-vis nymph leader from Cutthroat, do you apply floating to just the hi-vis orange butt section? I thought that maybe you applied it to the full leader, and only the tippet added on the end would sink in order to better control how much line sunk. If you let the non hi-vis section sink, won't that allow too much line to sink with your nymph?
Most of the time, only the hi-vis section. But if fishing very shallow skinny water, you could grease the entire leader. That leader will support small nymphs in calmer waters. But even if it sinks on you a bit, it still make an awesome sighter. We have LOTS of guides using that setup with their clients with great success. Hope that helps.
pretty good explanation of furled leaders and use... but.. tapered leaders really aren`t that difficult to unwind. Just insert two fingers..spread the loop apart..then unwind from the end..nice vid though and ty
So I take it these are only used for suspending nymphs or wet flies...not like traditional indicator fishing when you have weight (split shots) on your leader/tippet which would just sink the hi vis portion of this leader????
I'm curious about furled leaders but there is an important question that I can't seem to find an answer to: how do you attach a fly to the leader? I know that may sound like a stupid question, but this key information doesn't seem to be available anywhere. There's a loop at the end of the furled leader, so how much tippet do you use between the end of the leader and the fly? What size tippet? This video (and every other one I've found) just "assumes" that I'm supposed to know what to do with the looped or ringed end of the furled leader.
Larry, he said in the video to attach 4 feet of your chosen tippet size (5x for example) to your leader. I like to use my 9' rod to help me measure on the water. Put your leader just coming out of the last eye, then pull it down the rod. Then add enough tippet to get to the end of your rod handle. If you want a 10' leader in total, add another foot. Hope that helps. It works with all the furled leaders.
3 to 4 feet of 5X to 7X tippet. Tie a Perfection loop in the end of the Tippet. Tie a Loop to Loop knot from the furled leader loop to the tippet loop. Tie the fly using what ever fly knot you use already.
Ok so I bought one last week and it got here really fast (thank you for that) but I went and fished it today. I had rubbed some leader goop that I also bought from you and I either didn't put it on right or something else was/is wrong. It would sink (granted I can still see it under the water) before the drift was complete. Can you give me some pointers? Like how much of that floatant to apply etc.
Awesome video, Mike. So cool you were able to get Tim from Tightlines to narrate. I assume he shot the vid, too? Looks like his style! Looking forward to seeing more!
Excellent fly leaders. I bought my first one several months ago and I really am impressed so I recently purchased two more for back up. Excellent service...BTW.
