Wonderful to have met you Kevin at the Orange County alumni fundraiser. Go Green! You're going to do great things at MSU and our beloved Spartan family!
MSU is offering full scholarships to all students from Chester PA a bankrupt African-American city. How do I as an alumnus contribute to this special fund?
is it just me or did will tieman copy george blahas voice?...was his voice changed on purpose or hired based on his voice sounding exactly like george blaha?
I think more engagement with currently enrolled students should be emphasized. In my years as a student back in the black & white television days (not quite that, but it's been a while!), I don't know that I ever heard one word about the museum. And no, I never went inside the building even once during my undergraduate years. Regular, ongoing advertisements in the State News for sure should be placed that appeal to students and at least make them want to visit once and check out the place. And I'm sure there are other ways to engage with the students. I'm no marketing expert, but you want to somehow get the kids to take ownership, to feel like they have a stake in the museum as they probably do with various athletic programs and their major course of study. They should feel invested in the museum, and value it. And of course you need to take the long view ... those students will one day become alumni. You want them to be fans of the museum. Some will certainly attend regularly and recommend it to friends and family. A small number may even become powerful advocates for the museum down the road when they are in the professions. Figuring out a way to better connect with alumni who visit campus on home football and home men's and women's basketball could pay off too. Since so many children attend the women's basketball games, some giveaway for the youngsters could boost admissions. As for hours of operation, would it be better to be open on Sundays and closed a second day during the week? I can't know that, but it's worth looking into. Maybe Wednesday through Sunday is the way to go rather than Tuesday through Saturday. Something else to consider: I graduated from MSU in 1984. I have never received a piece of correspondence in the mail (or email) from MSU about the museum. Why not? Give the alumni body and the friends of the university and the greater Lansing-East Lansing communities a reason to visit, and make us feel special and wanted. You might like the results. Thought I just share a few random thoughts that occurred to me as I watched this video. Maybe one or two of them are worth reading. Have a good day. D. Scott Jackson BA 1984
Baby Einstein has been my longest running Autism special interest ever since I was born. The puppets are adorable, the classical music is awesome, and the artwork and stock footage are beautiful to look at. I even made fan art pieces and puppet replicas of the franchise. I frequently shared the fan art that I liked the most to Julie. She was really nice and made frequent compliments. I remember the nicest things she ever done was sending me pictures of her puppets and mailing me a promotional denim shirt she once wore at Toy Fair in the early 2000s. I didn’t even ask her for pictures or rare objects, she just did that for her own kindness. She even complimented the shirts with pictures of cartoon or video game characters like Kirby from Nintendo in my puppet show videos. We emailed each other every month or every other month. Even my family said that Julie and I might be pen pals.
This is a book about dysfunction. It is not appropriate for Minors. The fact that it is recommended for AP Literature classes around the country is insidious. I find it highly doubtful the motivations of the author for the scene on page 201 where the 'psychologist' is playing mental associate a game with the child patent and injecting sexual and homo-erotic references into it. This is abuse and grooming behavior. its disgusting. The reader will empathize with the main characters perspective, it is very much like the author is subjecting the reader to the same psychological mental association exercise. I don't think subjecting readers to emotional abuse is 'good writing'.
Professor Stewart... I just read an article about you in the LSJ. I wanted you to know you were one prof who had a huge Impact on me even though we never met. Great passion and knowledge about what you taught which have carried me into 25 years of teaching. Go Green Mr. Sparty and thanks!
I created a dance for the Beal Gardens. As the chimes from Beaumont Tower struck the hour, a large group of dancers flooded into the garden. They each carried a different musical instrument and played as they danced.
She saved my life. I just received a 2nd transplant from her a few weeks ago. She is an amazing woman AND surgeon. The best personality in the entire world, and truly cares. ❤️
Man, I had Cy 30 years ago. Fantastic prof. (You have to be to get someone to trek from old hort to Conrad back-to-back in the dead of winter without missing classes). For better or worse, the term "howlie" (and all Hawaiian apparel) and Prof. Stewart will forever be linked in my brain.
Teresa, you're engaging, eloquent and a fearless leader. Terrific message. Remind the video team to move the lights out of the way of the reflections from the glasses.
