Extremely impressive. So, depending on the room, it's possible that we could forgo corner traps with ART. If we were to get everything properly placed and measured and we still wanted to shorten the decay of (in your examples at 54:05) 25hz, we could then turn to a hemholz reso or a tuned absorber . Fascinating. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Grimani's room for CES '23 didn't have any sort of bass trapping at all and was from what I've read, very impressive. He still used absorption and diffusion for 150hz on up but he didn't use any sort of bass trapping. Just 4 corner loaded subs plus 2-21" subs for infrasonics.
Lost me about half way through. I have the basic Dirac Live on the mobile app. No videos showing how to properly set up Dirac on RU-vid, unless you buy a mic and download on a laptop. Lame. But good video for those who bought a mic and software, and a laptop. On top of the price of their receivers.
Going full digital to each driver is the future if costs can be contained. This first of its kind design bypasses analog all together, eliminates crossovers, and minimizes cable effects. Each active speaker gets a power plug and Ethernet cable or runs over wifi. The trick is to minimize cost as much as possible. Probably make boxes specific to a driver like Wilson audio and stack them where needed in a room.
I’m currently designing my HT. Fortunately, all four walls are interior to my attic space. This means that I have the option to co-locate IB subwoofers (capable of 18Hz@-3dB) at each speaker location in an Auro3d 13.1 setup (for a total of 12 locations excluding the VOG). Given that all of my speakers will have near identical responses in the ART frequency support range it seems that I would have no need for any additional subwoofers. Does this mean that all of the speakers (less the VOG) be included in the same support group? FYI, the VOG will be good down to 80Hz.
Great webinar. I would have liked to hear from Nilo more during the Q&A section. It seemed that Sebastian answered most questions and moved on and talked over Nilo a lot.
I'm using this on my StormAudio MK3 and I can't see those little dots in the colored bars on the lower left corner and I also can't see the filter count (382 out of 457 used...). Not sure why this is. ART seems to perform nicely, but I'm missing this visibility.
Why after I upgraded diraclive3.6.5, the subwoofer of Full Bass Optimization has no sound after the test, and it is normal after returning to 3.4.4. How many enthusiasts have encountered the same problem as me? I use stormaudio isp core 16, firmware version 4.3
Hi, Could you please open a ticket on our helpdesk (www.stormaudio.com/helpdesk), giving us your set-up? Our team will do its best to assist you. Thanks
Would love to hear / see how the system would work when applied to a duel center scenario (speaker deployment on each side of screen) as we attempt to tackle the ever growing TV sizes and the panning challenge of keeping the bead layer on the same plane.
Why does everybody in the instructionvideos use almost straight target curves? If you listen to that result you'll hear that you've damaged the soundcharacteristics of you're speaker brand. Switching dirac on and off will show that you're sound changes completely. This is not the way to get the best performance out of you're speakers.
Just wondering whether the core 16 has the processing power to possibly update in the future the optical output to be able to render an extra 2 or 4 channels on top of the equipped 16 channels and will then be able decode 18 or 20 channels. I know trinnov have implemented this update, that would definitely sway me to choose the core 16 over altitude 16 because I’m wanting to setup a 9.3.6 or something similar.
Thanks for the awesome tutorial! Im interesting in using Storm Audio’s cinema filters in Dirac, but don’t see a publicly accessible link. Is there any chance you could provide one? I learned about you all from your appearances on the Audioholics RU-vid channel. Really hoping to get a processor from you all my next go around👍
I can understand the value of the modular design that MK2 has, and it has caught my interest for a while. But I might do fine with max. 16 channels. In the «non-modular 16-channel processors»- category the prices are of course allot lower. There are other (fixed) 16 channel processors out there with Dirac, upgradable HDMI board and similar functionality. For ex. the JBL SDP-55……at 6000$. What sets Core apart at 12000$? Dont get me wrong, I am interested in your products. Im just curious how one would justify the asking price. Thanks! :)
Hi Hakon, thanks for your comment and sorry for the late reply. Cost is always the first thing we see, obviously. Let me give you some insight to this. Unlike the SDP you refer to which is a platform manufactured in China and sold under several brands that I will not name here, our products are 100% designed and manufactured in France, with obviously less "volume" as the brand you refer too. We try to defend as much as possible the "made in france" approach, not without impact, especially in the cost. Also the CORE 16 has the exact same technology and performance as the flagship MK2. Our Dirac integration uses 3048 taps while the one you refer to is only using 1000 taps, so a lower resolution and therefore precision. Finally, I invite you to look around in the various forums (including Audio Science Review) to see what you actually get for 6000$: a lot of quality problems, not the performance that is shown on paper...etc. So, cost is always a difficult matter, but in the end, performance and reliability has a cost. Why buy a Mercedes when you can buy a Volkswagen to do the same thing? What it does, it will do it in a better way and for a longer time (we are still upgrading our MK1 products already 5 years old).
@@StormAudio Thanks for your reply and openess. Of course, production outside of china has its value. I did not know you produce it in EU. I am aware of the issues the others have. ☺️
At first I thought that I needed glasses, why is the desktop video capture so blurry? But in all seriousness this is the future of preamps and all in one receivers.
It would be great if we could control the roon audio volume on the downmix zone. To do this now requires using the StormAudio app in conjunction with the roon app.
@@StormAudio I already asked them. They said they don’t deal with stormaudio any more. That was last year. Have you ever dealt with Audio gallery recently?
