Canada's Trusted Partner for Industrial Lifecycle Solutions
Altex Industries is located in Edmonton Alberta with a focus on heat exchangers for the Canadian market. We provide complete life cycle support for heat transfer - engineering & design, fabrication, repairs & re-tubes, replacement parts, major turn-around field services, and problem-solving / technical support.
Large-diameter, high-pressure, heavy, challenging metallurgy, and/or high-spec - this is our bread and butter. To chew through this type of work you need serious engineering horsepower, which is why we have over a dozen P.Eng. in-house!
Products & Services: - Air-Cooled (fin-fan) heat exchangers to API 661, with or without winterization (recirculation). Low-noise options available. - Shell & Tube heat exchangers, including Helixchangers - Sulphur Condensers and Waste-Heat Boilers - Turnarounds & Maintenance: Boilermaker, pipefitter, portable machining, controlled bolting, bundle pulling, repairs
We use sub-arc (SAW) on the large circumferential and longitudinal seams in our shells because it is a highly productive welding process. It's semi-automated with an operator instead of a welder, it's repeatable and consistent, and it produces high-quality (low defect) welds quickly.
EOT cranes and hoists are a big surprises in Turnarounds. Many are not (or cannot be) operated during the regular plant operation and when required after 5-7years of inoperation.. are discovered just konked off...(broken or siezed).... Best way is to -have an audit and rehearsal of all the hoists..(atleast 6months to 1 years in advance) - greasing & minimum operation (required to keep healthy) -keep all the spares for 1- minimum 2- maximum overhaul
