The Arts & Learning Conservatory exists to bring accessible high quality musical theatre and performing arts programs to youth ages 5-18 throughout Southern California. We offer dynamic instruction in theatre, instrumental classes, voice, and dance.
Our goal is to promote a hands-on experience in the arts to all children regardless of race, age, income or level of experience. Students in the ALC program receive university-level concepts presented at age appropriate levels, allowing participants to achieve higher levels of excellence in their personal & artistic ability.
Most importantly, we seek to keep a love of the arts alive while instilling valuable life skills that promote teamwork, articulation, public speaking, and refined social skills. Which leads to Confidence and Creativity for Life.
WHAT A RACIST COMMENT! There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that says Dorothy in "The Wiz" MUST BE BLACK! There's nothing that says "The Wiz" must be a black cast at all! AND, there's nothing that says Dorothy must be white in "The Wizard Of Oz"! Actually, although Baum wrote her as a white girl in Kansas City Kansas during the 1880's - 1920's, Dorothy would have more likely been black at that time, in that part of the country, statistically speaking. She would most likely have been part of a share cropper family. "The Wiz" is "THE SOULFUL WIZARD OF OZ" not "THE BLACK WIZARD OF OZ"! And, white's have soul too!
I don’t think I could donate enough, it’s a beautiful performance but lacking a real genuine redhead Annie, I just love how there are so few in America really talented gingers auditioning for shows
You all did a fabulous job. Nobody else had said anything so I'll just chime in to say that. I reallyliked how the girl playing Annie saw the dog was wandering a bit and just kept in character getting "Sandy" to lay down and settle. I think it was a case of trouble with live animals but it looked like it was part of the script, it was so natural. I've written a few fun Anie fanfics showign the orphans wrote the comics in their spare time, too, so if anyone wants to read here's my first of several that are up. www.fanfiction.net/s/13760602/1/To-The-Rescue
This is such a great representation of what this outstanding organization is all about. Amazing directors, instructors, choreographers, musicians, and talented children, as well as hardworking parents and staff coming together to make it all happen while making a difference in children's lives.
