Hi! Welcome to the world of Ink & Matcha, a place to get inspired if you are in pursuit of a creative calling. If you like writing, drawing, books and mangas you are in the right place. Join me on my creative journey as I challenge myself to grow.
thanks for sharing your thoughts and the book tips! I think lots of people can relate to your story, despite all its seriousness though you managed to keep the cozy levels up high, so this was not just insightful but also kinda soothing. Best wishes! also whats up with the sound of crickets chirping being so comforting
Thank you for your encouraging words. I'm glad to hear you found the video soothing :) I think the sound belongs to summer cicadas, during warm summer days. They can get really loud, but remind me of my childhood.
Can we all take a moment and assimilate that there are 36 pages in chapter one? 🤯 Once you begin, there are no mistakes or bad choices; it's simply part of the learning process. 😌 👏👏👏
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you like my channel. I'm still not where I would like to be with my skills, but I'm slowly improving. :) Are you making a comic of your own?
I feel the exact same way about AI too. It's ruining everything. It's so disheartening. Sometimes I feel 'should I even bother pursuing art anymore?' My hope is that AI will eventually fade away like VR and NFTs. They keep trying to push AI but hopefully it will backfire because the quality of the images being generated look like crap. I'm still going to continue making art because it makes me happy. And you should too. Keep doing the things that bring you joy and peace 💛
Thank you for your encouraging words! Indeed, AI is now integrated in so many things, but it's actually wrong to call it intelligence in the first place. So much of the surrounding semantics creates a discord that does not reflect the reality of what it actually is and does. However, much like you, I found my inner clarity on why I do the things I do. :) I wish you a lot of success in your creative endeavours as well! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me!
I'm planning to turn my novel into a comic too! It's a superhero novel and I've been submitting it to agents/publishers but I think it might work better as a comic book. Love your process and the Final Fantasy X background music! ❤
Thank you for watching my video! :) It's always exiting to meet other fellow writers / illustrators! I think a superhero story fits the comic gerne perfectly! Feel free to share more about it if you'd like. Why did you decide to publish it traditionally?
@@inkmatcha No worries! I love discovering new writers and artists on RU-vid and I love your channel! Yeah I've been writing my superhero series since I was 12 haha. I'm 30 now. I polished up the first book last year and started querying agents last summer. But I'm contemplating rewriting it as a comic book or perhaps self-publishing it. But I'm really leaning towards making it a comic because I've always loved drawing and writing comics.
@@redheadpinupreader Oh, thank you very much :) We are quite similar. I also started when I was a kid and I’ll be turning 30 soon. I took a look at your insta profile, your work looks wonderful. The characters are charming and full of life. If you ask my humble opinion you should totally go for it :) Make it into a comic. I’d love to follow your journey!
Recognising the relationship between how my body uses energy and how I process information from my surroundings has been crucial for me. These are all excellent tips, thanks for sharing.:-)
Thank you! I'm glad you found them helpful. Also, thank you for sharing your experience. Do you mind elaborating on the ways in which you find the information process from your surroundings impacts you? :)
I was going through burn out and art block during the same time as you. I also blame AI as the main factor. I ditched digital and went traditional and it helped :) Thanks for sharing your story.
I just took a look at your work, it's wonderful :) Really love your style. I used to work in pain tool sai, when I was younger. It's quite challenging with what is happening in the industry, but I hope you feel better now. Burnout can be a tricky thing, especially when it lasts for longer periods.
If you want to see my other book recommendations for navigating burnout you can check out my article here: inkandmatcha.substack.com/p/top-3-books-to-help-you-recover-from
A successful read but there is one specific thing to pay attention to which are the topics you are interested in and focus on. For example, if you are a philosophy and history geek, Will Durant's Encyclopedia of Civilization is very good, or if you are particularly interested in philosophy, for example, Kierkegaard's books, Nietzsche's books, Bertrand Russell Deckard's books. Books and Kant's books are not bad
The easiest way to succeed in any field is to work on it consistantly, and consistancy is the key to success. I experienced my self. By the way, thanks for the uploads , a fellow creator,,
im new to this channel, this was the first one in my homepage probably because of nanowrimo 2022 hihi 💚 imma subscribe to support you 💚 im still contemplating if im doing it this year but i suddenly came up with a new fall-esque themed story concept just this previous week, and have been laying out initial ideas for the story as prep but really cant do a full-on nanowrimo aside from doing it as a side thing uncompetitively because november is a busy month for me 💚 good luck to everyone joining for nanowrimo 2022 🎉🎉🎉 ill be your 49th sub hehehe 💚💓
Oh wow, thank you so much! I appreciate the support! :) I used to participate in Nano uncompetitively, and to be honest, what matters is writing. Your novel sounds like the perfect one to be working on this fall. Please feel free to share your progress along the way. I'd be very happy to follow your journey. Good luck 🍀
5 books which had an impact on my life :- 1) Mark Rowlands - The Philosopher and the Wolf. In this memoir, philosopher Mark Rowlands compares the attitude of the ape with that of the wolf. The ape is calculating and scheming, whereas the wolf appreciates the intrinsic value in life. The theme of the book is about learning to appreciate the intrinsic value of things. 2) Mark Rowlands (again) - Running with the Pack. Similar in theme to the previous book. This one focusses on the intrinsic value of simply running. 3) J.D. Salinger - The Catcher in the Rye. A strange choice; but this book had a big impact on me when I read it as a 19 year old. The author expressed a lot of the cynicism I felt as a teenager but was somehow unable to put into words. 4) Ajahn Brahm - Who ordered this Truckload of Dung? Written by a Buddhist Monk, this book comprises of lots of short stories about life (most about two pages long). Each of the stories has a moral or a kind of lesson. I was surprised at how much the lessons aligned with what I had read about cognitive psychology. Took a long time for the penny to drop on some of these stories. I understood them on a superficial level, but they took a long time to sink in. 5) Victor Frankl - Man's Search for Meaning - I have read this book a number of times; the last was a number of years ago. It's split into two sections. The first is about his experience in nazi concentration camps; I believe he spent time in four different camps. The second part is about logotherapy, the kind of therapy he developed. I find the first part of the book far superior; the second part never really landed with me. What I took from the book was how to find value and meaning in everyday life, and everyday things no matter how impoverished our situation may be. Thank you for posting this video and encouraging me to think about some of the books that have had an impact on my life.
@@inkmatcha I guess I like the challenge? Lol. Here's a few things that worked well for me. 1) Writing early in the morning before I go to my day job. Often I managed to get very close to the daily word count goal before even getting out of bed. This set me up for success each day and removed the anxious feeling that would grow at work as I thought about everything I needed to complete in the evening. 2) Getting ahead early on. There are always things that come up later in the month that prevent me from writing on a few days and getting ahead early alleviated the stress that comes from falling behind. 3) Sharing with my partner and step kids because they would check in with me each day and it was fun to tell them how far I'd gotten. 4) Having multiple POV's to write from (if possible). Sometimes I would totally blank on what was happening with one character, so I'd just switch to a different POV and storyline for a while. This was easy enough for mine because I'm writing a fantasy series with multiple main characters. Not always possible but very helpful for this kind of quick drafting! Good luck! You got this!
@@authorkyliemacdougall Thank you so much! These are useful! I'm also working on a fantasy novel, but I have this pet peeve, where I want to keep the chronological order of my chapters! 😅 I'm looking forward to hearing more about your project! :)
It's definitely a challenge with 40 hours of your week taken up with a day job, but certainly doable! Really glad I found your channel--I'm looking forward to learning more about you and your writing projects 😊
@@nikkilpzs Thank you, Nikki, for your feedback! I'm sure this time you will break the cycle! :) Although, in the end, it's not really important that we win Nano, but that we get back into the habit of daily writing. Even little progress is still progress. You should be proud of yourself.
I'm excited to follow your nano journey! I love watching people's processes, so this year I'm going to document my own, too! I'm doing it alongside full time school as a PhD student, so these tips are useful!
Thank you, morganeua! I'm happy to hear these tips added some value. It is always exciting to find new people who will share their journey. I'm looking forward to seeing your process as well. What will you be working on this nano? :)
