Yeah if someone says that kiwis are on sale and I know they like them, I’ll buy them. But if they get upset I didn’t, that’s when it’s toxic. Passively mentioning that kiwis are on sale is giving someone the opportunity to make a nice gesture without being asked, it lets them know passively that IF they want to be kind, that’s one action you’d appreciate. If you want kiwis and will get upset if you don’t have them, then ask directly. Passively mentioning things should only be used as a way to communicate possibilities
