I like filming Outdoor Warning Sirens (which I like to usually title "Tornado Siren" as many people may refer them as) sounding off on scheduled siren monthly tests mostly. Sometimes, I may film sirens that sound off daily at 12PM noon or whenever I feel like it. I am also considered the very first siren enthusiast to privately own a Whelen WPS-3000 siren (which I've bought from West Shore Services back in July of 2008.) I originally began RU-vid back in November of 2007 but I deleted my old account due to safety concerns but wasn't relevant. So I had to create a new account since I couldn't get my old one back and decided to start over in July of 2008. I really enjoy being part of the siren community and am looking forward to future siren videos or whatever may come up that interests me.
The reason why it is a chopper level lower than its set at is because of the voltage drop caused by the blower motor being single phase and drawing more current than a 3 phase motor would.
Update 8/3/24: This siren may have been fixed,I checked on this today to get some pictures and the horn was facing a different direction unlike it was broken in this video.
Just to follow up on the MC, folks, it turns out that what I said at around 1:22 is NOT true. What happened was every time I kept running amplifiers in that terminal, it kept ether blowing a fuse or made one of the output transistors fail. After getting brand new replacement output transistors and placing em in one of the less corroded amps I have or ordered to have spare ones, it appears it solved the problem. After doing a few full 3 minute signal runs couple days AFTER this video took place, it never had any problems. So the MC is back to having ALL 6 properly working amplifiers.
@@JerryWick Figures. I'm waiting for Greenfield Park's P-50 to go. Cause I want to film the (Would be) T-135 that replaces it as my first T-135 to hear in person.
Glad more people are doing this. Fun fact, when I was "tone-testing" the Whelen for its initial test, I activated the 508 only, and could hear it from where we were, at the Whelen.
