Nice video thanks! It's a shame they didn't bring out the NT diesel loco (back in the day, when I was an apprentice fitter and turner at Tulloch Ltd. (Sydney) I worked on many of the early NT's). I have had the pleasure of a first hand view of Pichi Richi's NT. Thanks again!
The NT was used for a recreation of the old Ghan top and tailed with the NSU. I’ve of vision of it. I’ll put it together and post it in the next few months

I do not see the justification in this station. Understanding there will be seasonal passenger's each weekend it is likely very few passengers will use it on a weekday. There would be a requirement for a very large car park to motivate a transfer base. The immediate area is not greatly dense, residential or commercial.
Excellent well done, all we need now seeing the government is playing with trains again, is to reinstate the train to Roseworthy so that community can catch a train to Gawler and beyond, probably just a pipe dream.
Sydney got a futuristic subway line with driverless electric trains while her in Adelaide we got a short branch line that still uses diesel railcars from the 80s. Absolutely appalling. 😡
To be fair (and I worked on Sydney Metro) that investment in the Metro was years over due and should have come decades ago. Adelaide could probably build most of what it needs for the money Sydney has spent on just that one Metro line: -Adelaide could build a new CBD rail tunnel -and electrify everything including the Belair line -and extend all the tram network in every direction including a circle line -and convert the O-Bahn to a proper metro system going to the airport -and extend the Seaford line to Aldinga The only thing that will be expensive at the scale of Sydney Metro is if they do finally build a rail tunnel to Adelaide Hills.
That would be a wise move given all the development out that way! Saying that, the Adelaide Suburban lines would need to be converted to standard gauge. It would be rather foolish to have just one section standardised. I also wonder what the ARTC would say about having to share their line with Adelaide Metro…
This service should've gone via Gillman with Kilburn upgraded as an Interchange Station. New stations built along the route and the Rosewater loop upgraded as well. A lot of people would've used the service if they knew they could get from the North and South to work round Regency/Wingfield.
Couldn't help but notice the rude sod with the camera who positioned himself in front of the other person who had already positioned himself in order to take some video. Some people! Pfft!
Yes, and that is why it was built. With population increase and suburban infill, many old lines may be returned to service in the years to come because of increasing road traffic volumes.
3015 not hybrid yet, but 3009 hybrid. (3009 was one of the first hybrid 3000's) The older 3000's and 3100's still in service will not be hybrid. The sleepers also have an option for standard gauge even though I doubt it will ever become standard gauge.
Eventually the suburban system must be standard gauge. The only alternative is a dual gauge system (Belair and Gawler being standard and the rest being broad), but that would be ridiculous.
Why did they build this when a shuttle bus from Port Adelaide station would have done the job just as well. Port Adelaide station certainly could do with an upgrade though.
Port Adelaide 😊 the bridge shots are from Grand Junction Road Overpass. There is quite a nice shared path that follows the railway from the aviation museum down towards the railway museum. 😊
Cheers Paul! I think it has more to do with the safe work hours for the crew. I’m not in the industry so I have no real idea, that’s just my best guess.
