I am a photographer and videographer currently based in Hong Kong. Right now, my videos are mostly Hong Kong themed and made from b-roll that I take when scouting for locations.
I am a former anthropologist and conducted research at the University of Oxford. Before covid, I would be travelling and spending extensive time with ethnic minorities and indigenous people across China, Russia and Mongolia. I’m hoping to start travelling more again soon and revisiting my friends in some lesser explored parts of the world. When I do - I’ll be sure to record it and upload it here! 😉
I watched your review, and still decided to buy the bag. Unforunatley, I will be returning it, not even fully loaded the backpack is extremely heavy, and unformortable to wear.
Wonderful vlog, in my opinion, it should have been 10 minutes longer. The quietness in the vlog is such a powerful tool to showcase the surrounding !!! I had visited Phuktal monastery in July 2022 and had stayed at their guest house which had the satellite wifi ... not sure if the wifi is still there.
Oh thanks so much! In November everything was closed so there was no wifi or guesthouses. I was super lucky and was able to stay in the monastery itself. It was really an amazing experience!
You make a great point about the chest strap. I'm an average framed man and prefer the chest strap to be high. I'm about to record the unboxing of both the everyday bag and the bigger one.
@@jemmarogersphotography Years ago I was shown around there and it was available to rent, but there's no way to get hold of the people that owned it anymore. Is there a way to rent it?
@@jemmarogersphotography Ah that's a shame. Others have said it's possible to go inside, but I don't think they went in as recently as you. Do you think there's still a way to rent it? Someone must own it. I literally just want to use the fake prison cells for a no budget music video shoot one time.
Yeah, before the virus I went to look around and it was available to rent. Apparently movie companies used to rent it too for filming. However, by the time the virus stuff ended there's no longer any way to contact and apparently it had closed down and been abandoned. I went there just on Sunday just gone, to see if there's a way to get in and use it and it's now taken over as government land. I will try calling them to ask if there's a way to use it, but I suspect I won't get a favorable response. Furthermore, I have no idea if anything inside remains intact!@@jemmarogersphotography
I plan to go back sometime soon and do some interviews with some elderly women I befriended from the Red Yao Tribe (the main ethnic group in the area). I just need time off work (and money 😂) to go back! Stay tuned 😉
After watching your other Longji video I had to watch this one. LOL. Great footage. Our trip to Longji was in fall, where all the terraces were yellow, right before harvest.
Hi, Jemma. Love your video. Did you have any issues using your drone in China? This is how I got from Hong Kong to Longji Rice Terraces. After arriving at Hong Kong airport, someone took me directly to Shenzhen where my friends picked me up after customs. Then on to Humen to meet everyone. We took the bullet train from Humen (Dongguan) to South Guangzhou railway station to Guilin. There our private bus took us to the mini gondola lift to the top of the mountain where we spent the night in a hotel. After some time in Guilin, we went to Yangshuo. Traveling with family and friends make things easy for me. In fact, when we left Humen I had no idea where we were going. Fun times.
Hi there! No I didn’t have any problems - I asked my hostel owner about using drones in Longji and he said it’s totally fine and said I could even fly it out of the window of the hostel 😂 (I didn’t - I found somewhere else haha). So far I’ve found China to be extremely drone friendly. Though of course I am careful when using them to make sure I don’t go too close to people/property/animals/etc.. especially somewhere as beautiful as Longji I don’t want to ruin that beautiful tranquillity! Glad to hear you had a good time in Longji 😃
Oh thank you! Glad you find it helpful! I will post more soon - I’m actually starting to get the hang of the Avata now 😃 It was intimidating at first but I’m having so much fun with it now 😂
Sorry for the terrible video quality 😅 This massive guy took me by surprise while I was walking home at night! Actually, at first there were two huge porcupines but the bigger one must’ve seen me and ran into the bushes seconds before I could pull my phone out. This guy stayed on the path a bit longer. I feel blessed to have seen two of them happily foraging together on Valentine’s Day ❤ 🥰
Excellent video. Bringing these issues to designers attention, is an excellent way to promote improvements in design. This can benefit all photographers.
