When a place charges more than Disney World for parking and its primary landscaping plant is poison ivy, with the park filled with commercial-sized dumpsters and several rides that need to be condemned, it's clear the park has been poorly managed for years, as others have also mentioned. It's important to inform the general public to avoid visiting this place.
@@dinklifeusahere’s my problem with this. First the rides. Skyway needed heavy refurbishment going into this season but with how much they have going on for the 50th you can’t fault them for doing nothing with it this year. Giant wheel is now open and got massive refurbishment this year. As for why it took so long is because six flags corporate always does stuff later. It’s their strategy for people to come back later in the year. I do agree that it should’ve been open earlier but it’s not really in great adventure’s control like a lot of stuff is. The same goes for flash and log flume. As for the other rides like zumanjaro, Wonder Woman, and Houdini they just need parts. You’re not going to have spare parts for every single part and it takes time to get these parts. There’s just nothing they can do about that. All parks are like that. Oh and cyborg is closed because of flash construction. None of these rides are closed for no reason. I understand being upset not getting to ride everything but you really can’t blame the park for that and it’s only a few rides closed. But people act like most of the park is closed. As for how the park looks I know it’s not like a cedar fair park but I don’t think it’s a bad looking park either. They have done a lot of improvements this year and the biggest thing is probably dream street. In prior years you had to go around where by Rita’s is to get into that area since there was a paintball building there before. But now you can walk straight through. The park president is always their and he’s a really nice guy talking to us. Like Great adventure has the best operations out of any six flags or cedar fair park by far. Cedar fair uses IROC for their operations which slows down dispatch’s. So great adventure does really well there and The parks leadership does care about great adventure but again corporate are the ones that hold these parks back. I do agree they should remove poison Ivy so kids don’t step in it and the parking price is steep. Luckily I still have my legacy memberships that they discontinued years ago but they’re so cheap compared to what they have now. But yeah I have been going to this park for years and I do want it to be the best it can be. However seeing the GP overacting just makes me roll my eyes at this point but this is really nothing new. They say great adventure is terrible because Back in the 90’s and the 2000’s great adventure did look better and had a good amount of shows. While I do agree with that the park still has a great collection of rides which they have been adding to. Like going into the 2010’s the park needed flat rides and they added a ton but people will still tell me that the park barely has any flat rides. I know this was long but just wanted to express how I feel.
@@Starlit43 Thank you for your comment! This park is wonderful for locals, but I don't think it's worth spending money on travel and hotel accommodations just to visit. The park is not in the best condition, despite having great rides. Most vloggers we follow never mention the park's poor state; if they had, we wouldn't have visited. While we don't have a large following, it's important to warn others about spending their hard-earned money on this place.
Ok so im scared of rollar coasters usually, i have ridden basically nothing with a big drop. I need your honest opinion, is this ride intense? I am going this Thursday!
The most intense part is the helix turn halfway through-the point where my wife and I almost passed out. The rest of the ride features lots of hills but no inversions, and it also offers an amazing view of the lake.
👍Glad you both had a good time there but if you do return, Flying Turns should be priority since it is the only wooden one in the world and it is too unique not to enjoy.
We loved Knoebels-it’s an amazing park! However, we were disappointed that we couldn't get on one ride due to the long wait. Having already visited four amusement parks in the previous five days, we were a bit tired of standing in lines. But we’re definitely looking forward to riding it next time!
That sounds an amazing place to grow up around!!! We love classic parks, and there's nothing quite like Knoebels anymore. It's an amazing place, and we will definitely be back!
I know Six Flags New England doesn't get much hype, but it is one of the cleanest parks I've been too. Not as many coasters as other parks, but it has the best of the Superman coasters and Wicked Cyclone is top of many RMC hybrids lists. And seems to be better layout walking wise...plus, the food is pretty good for what it is. Pricing? Same as other Six Flags parks...though you can park and walk to the main entrance for $10 to $20 for the day in the local businesses. I get a season pass, season flash pass and season dining pass....all for under $300 when they are on sale. That is free parking and free drinks included. I could bump it up to the All Parks Season Passes if I actually went to other parks again!
@@dinklifeusa If you make an announcement that you are going, I'll give you a tour and history of the park, but won't interfere with your VLOG experience. :)
Just found your channel.. and seeing you doing the water rides in the winter tells me: you're my kind of people. People think I am crazy for doing water rides in winter. I think if you like thrills, what is more thrilling than not knowing if you are gonna get splashed with cold water in the winter.
Thanks for watching and for the comment! It does seem crazy to ride water rides in the winter. I got absolutely soaked on Chiapas at Phantasialand last winter!
It's the park management is horrible. The parks president is pathetic. I'm just hoping with this merge things will change for Great Adventure. I mean they are still building the flash and it's quickly coming up to end season and it's still not built fully. They really dragged their feet with this project and totally missed the mark.
This is my home park and you're absolutely right about everything. When it's crowded--holy cow, the lines become unmanageable. It has been like this ever since I started coming in the early 2000s. My wife and I just went to Cedar Point for the week and it was such a refreshing change. I hope the merger elevates Six Flags and doesn't diminish Cedar Fair, but I'm not optimistic. By the way, I was interested to hear you worked at Geauga Lake. I worked at Sea World Ohio for a year back in 1996 as a "show operator" (sound booth guy), before the acquisition by Six Flags and the merger with Geuaga Lake. Lots of good memories.
Thanks for the comment! I hope the merger improves the quality of Six Flags parks instead of dragging them down. Hopefully, in a few years, we'll see whether this merger has a positive or negative impact on our home parks.
@@dinklifeusayou did come at an bad time this is my home park and we got season passes there has been only one day I’ve been here where it was bad but the park is very good I love it anyway have a good day
This park has been running poorly this year but it had been running well for some time. I feel people are too hard on SF parks. Their parks are good for what they are and that’s thrills. If you’re into the atmosphere then it’s not the type of park to go to. Unless you go to a smaller park like the great escape.
@@dinklifeusaI mean tbf, CP and KI are some of the best parks in the country. I don’t disagree that GAdv should be better run, but hopefully with the CF merger it should be better soon
@@dinklifeusa I’ve never been to either unfortunately so I can’t compare. Best cedar fair park I’ve been to is Canada’s wonderland and California’s great America plus Knotts berry farm
Sounds about right. I haven’t been there in over 10 years. It sounds the same. The same great coasters (nothing great has been added in 10 years.) The same dirty park. It hasn’t been well run in DECADES.
We agree it’s wild how they have some amazing coasters, but the rest of the park is so poorly maintained. I’ve never been to a park with so much junk and trash stored around the bases of the coasters. I wouldn’t recommend anyone spend the money to travel to a Six Flags park, especially with the cost of hotels. After visiting Six Flags Great Adventure, it's clear that Six Flags parks are best for locals only, and no one should go out of their way to visit such poorly kept parks.
so if you haven't been here in 10 years, then how could you say it's the "same dirty place" with no great additions? Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth (2019), Jersey Devil Coaster (2021), The Flash: Vertical Velocity (New for 2024). Maybe it's time for you to revisit. :)
Still not as bad as Six Flags over Ga. Only place where I saw staff bullying a man with vitiligo and guests who looked like they were about to fight random people.
Was at the park yesterday at the time of writing this, park closes at 10 now and most of the closed rides are opened now as well as superman is running 2 trains. You did catch the park at a sort of odd time where they were still refurbishing stuff, this is my home park so obviously I have some bias to it but I'd go back when flash opens, it'll be a bit better. And yeah operations are a bit crappy sometimes but whatever lol I love it. Only 10 minutes away lol.
As a lifelong Akronite, I’m cringing at the mispronunciation of “Seiberling” in the beginning. Great video though - a piece of Akron history I’ve never heard before. Drove through Goodyear Heights earlier tonight.
Thank you! I know I should have read it myself. The AI voice sometimes pronounces things weirdly. It's funny; a few people have commented on Facebook saying the AI is actually pronouncing it correctly. lol
@@dinklifeusait would be interesting if everyone in Akron has been pronouncing it wrong for the last 100 years! Both of my parents grew up in Goodyear Heights - East High Class of ‘69 and ‘70. I sent my mom this video and she said, “I NEVER TOLD YOU ABOUT BLUE POND?” I can’t wait to hear what she has to say!
Phantom, exterminator, and SkyRocket are the THREE steel coasters running at my home park. And the lawn ornament aka: Steal Curtain is obviously rarely runs.
I grew up in Akron and went to a Goodyear Middle School just across the street from this pond, I used to walk home right by it every day for 2 years. I remember hearing the stories about the train going in the pond 🤣. It always had this creepy vibe when you're around it
@@terrysilcox4080 Awesome! I've lived in this area my entire life. I captured that shot with a DJI Mini 3 Pro. It's my fourth DJI drone. I used to own larger ones, but I enjoy having a compact drone that I can easily carry in a bag and quickly pop out for some great shots!
@@terrysilcox4080 No problem! I work as an engineer at the Research building, where I develop airless tires. I use the DJI RC controller, which features a built-in screen, to line up my shots. I manually control the camera trying for the smoothest possible footage for the videos. Then I edit in Final Cut Pro.
I love that it’s not the same because of the decor. 😂 - I agree it’s like the shinning. Creepy long hallway. Way too quiet. Why is it always so quiet?!
Thank you for the kind words! This is one of my first history videos. I fell down a rabbit hole when I discovered the crazy history behind this random pond!
