With the support of our members and sponsors, we serve the needs of all generations within Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. We spark imagination, explore our history and reflect the values of our diverse community. Guided by civic engagement, we provide unique, high-quality local, national and international programming, and digital content that educates, inspires and engages.
Obviously these awful miscreants have been allowed to take over and destroy a public ROW for years without any consequences because their money is more important than the people they’re supposed to be serving.
Homeschooling rules! May the good Lord provide all families with the means to do homeschooling so they can keep their kids away from the horrific government schools.
It wasn't a regular debate. Everything was stacked against Trump, to favored Biden. How do you expand ur ideas if they only give you 2 minutes to talk , at the same time trying to rebuttal ur opposition. Biden destroyed himself, by himself.
I think it's incredibly sad how lightly we take this stuff. I think many people have lost sight of the fact we need wildlife to survive, they don't need us. If we destroy the ecosystem, we ultimately destroy ourselves. But I guess tha a conversation not everyone is ready to have because the truth isn't convenient.
That's really pretty scary to know after last night's debate and the two years we've watched Joe Biden mental decline this is scary I cannot believe anybody and their right mind would vote for somebody who's losing their mind he holds our nuclear codes but I understand maybe you already know what I already know and that is Joe Biden is not the president he's just a puppet I believe it's Barack Obama behind the curtains
For all you people that live in Rhode Island if you are going to support Joe Biden tell me one good reason why you should do you love your country do you love the constitution of America do you believe in the Civil Rights if your answer was yes to all them then why in the hell are you voting for Joe Biden and why would you stick with the Democratic party I hope your answer isn't because I always vote Democrat if those are your answers then honestly you don't care about your country you're not a true patriot because this Administration and the Democratic party is trying to destroy America
If that was a mediocre performance from Biden I’d like to see what awful looks like. The President looked like a living corpse and it’s “mediocre”. Also I keep hearing people say Trump lied the entire debate. I’d really like to hear what these lies are. I didn’t hear one. But Biden lied the whole time. Like the Border Patrol endorsing him.
if you make a major mistake at your job, it doesn't matter what that job is. you deserve to face accountability. the end. if you can't deal with accountability on the level of what physicians deal with, then don't become a physician. be an accountant or a chef. yes false accusations are terrible but frankly medical errors of all kinds outweigh that by so much it's disgusting to act like it makes patients rights less important.
I LOVED this film, which so accurately reflects its title. From narration by Gita Pensa, M.D. (an expert in litigation stress in an informal teaching session with medical trainees), to poignant stories by two surviving patient families, who openly shared their experience, perceptions and feelings, to a deposition by defendant Dr. Matt Seaman who completed suicide after a licensure action based on a frivolous case, to Megan Ranney, a fellow emergency physician and medical school dean, to several experienced litigators, this story compassionately and completely unfolds the complexities in a way that is understandable to anyone. The current system of medical malpractice adjudication indeed fails us all. Kudos to Mark Brady, Viknesh Kasthuri and Alex Homer on this Epic piece which should be viewed and understood by all for the travesty this is.
Hi Ann - this is just wonderful advice. I think grief is too gentle a word. It should be call trauma. And that trauma is like carrying around a bookbag full of rocks. Some days you can't even get out of bed from the weight of it. Other days you feel a little stronger and can maybe go further but always it is there as much as your arm or your leg.
Hi Janetlouise, I think you are correct that it is trauma and I think that trauma is grief… I haven’t lost a child but I have… trauma. One of the most difficult parts about trauma is grieving, I think. I am 4/5ths through Ann’s book The Knitting Circle and it’s been helping me get out of my depression (from cptsd. The depression hit so hard a few weeks ago and I needed/need a distraction). Grief somehow does sound more gentle than trauma but trauma necessitates grief otherwise the trauma is internalized and we make sense of it in harmful ways.
This points to another crisis folded into the story - and yet not again directly addressed. The psychological needs of high risk high performance work. First responders, medical and physicians are the highest suicide rates. Yet those professionals are culturally dissuade from getting any counseling care.
That counseling would be by colleagues. Can a social worker turn to another social worker for help? Or would it be an echo chamber? Does getting medical help damage credibility? This is a professional risk, the notorious stigma. The insurer should provide the assistance needed for all concerned.
Good for the kids and parents. I taught public school for 26 years and it is certainly failing for a number of reasons. I sent my kids to Catholic school and taught them in the summers to keep them ahead. Both got scholarships to university, both honor students, one a commended National Merit Scholar, Both on Deans and Presidents honor rolls at university. There is nothing wrong with homeschool as long as you keep a routine and shoot for above grade level standards. It helps if the parent doing it is a university grad and knows what is coming at that level. I tried to keep the standards I saw while teaching and learning in East Asia where the kids are miles ahead of the US schools.
371 days is how long I will have to wait to see a doctor in this state. More than a year. I’m so sick of talk about reimbursement rates. Why is every state like its own country? The average national wait time is 20-26 days yet RI is 70% longer? Time to call in the national guard! I wrote Senator Sheldon today because something has to give! How many are going without care? Unbelievable!! Time to act!
The food in this restaurant is delicious, they have an old school bar and even a phone booth. This place is a throwback to the old days with food 2nd to none
