Are the 6.0 and 6.7 nose cones directly interchangeable? Just bought a 6.7 starter and do not want mess with the bushing/smaller bolt issue. I just want to swap nose cones, if possible. But the larger bearing on the 6.7 has me thinking it won't work. Thanks.
Sounds great and all, but there's always something better and faster out there, the question is if it's necessary. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Still running the original starter on my '96 7.3 with 200k on the dial. Have had zero reliability issues even in negative temps. I'm okay that it maybe takes .5 seconds longer to start with the OE starter, yep just fine with that.
In order to get a 6.4/6.7 starter on to a 7.3, you need to start with a 7.3 starter from 2001 to 2003. If you don't have one of those, which are getting rare as hens teeth cuz only offered for those 3 short years, you cannot swap nose cones from 7.3 starter to 6.4/6.7 starter. Don't get sucked into the hype like I did before you have all the info. You will piss away your hard earned money like I did.
Come to find out this video is only good for 2001 and newer 7.3 owners as they will have the starter needed for a nose cone swap to a 6.4 or 6.7 starter. Pre 2001 7.3 starters were a completely different design and will not work for this swap. Essentially what I'm saying is if you own a pre 2001 7.3, you have to buy two starters to do this conversion, at least initially. Not economical at all. A USA reman'd Powermaster 9051 is a great option in that case. FYI, a Powermaster 9051 is simply a worked over DENSO reman. That's literally all it is. Nothing too fancy, but the reman happens in the good ol' USA, so that's worth something. Got one on my late 99" and it works very well. DENSO units used to be all the rage and still are great units.
Dude.... I'm done! Installed, tested for proper operation, tools put away and clean solder joints! HA! Pretty easy peasy. Now it's better than factory! Well under half hour, with time to spare!
First the starter upgrades on both my 03 7.3, and 04 6.0, now time for the 6.0 console display. Ripping that sumbitch out right now, some flux and my portasol iron. I'll report back in an hour. Weird all your repairs take that long. I did both starters in under an hour, remove, rebuild, reinstall, hookup batts and test. Here we go again! You da MAN man!
I've had my truck for 22 years and only had to replace the display once. That foam has to be retaining heat on that board, that maybe part of the issue
The blades you are sharpening are really worn out. Get a new set for safety. Bending blades is a bad idea fella. With vibration the bend will go back to where it was originally. Peace
Can u please tell me if I could put a 6.7l starter on a 2002 f550 ...And is it easy install and what do I need to do just swap the nose & how difficult it is to swap it & where can I get it from in a reasonable price thanks alot
@18:27 when you have the parts laid out on the table, the top left "CV" shaft is what I need. I need both pieces. The piece that mounts to the mowing deck and the piece that mounts to the shaft that you are repairing. I have looked everywhere on the internet and I cannot find it. I even have the original Jacobsen part number. All list it as obsolete. If you have any resources I would greatly appreciate a shout back. I have a Jacobsen C318G with a 60" deck. Part number of the 2 pieces together is 130970. Great work by the way. I suspect I will have to replace my bearings to be on the safe side before I sell mine. Thanks PS. I did go to Ladd's website. They at least showed my model and some parts but they did not show anything forward of the shaft that you are working on
Thanks. Man, I got nothing regarding OEM parts...You might try calling them (Ladd's), they might be able to do some more digging. Alternatively, you could have one made. Lot's of people make PTO shafts. You might even be able to modify an off the shelf piece from Tractor Supply or the like.
There is absolutely no way that this fan could chop your finger off. The blades are not sharpened like a razor and the motor probably only puts out about 100 wants of power. I am sure it would stun you and maybe issue a small cut or bruise.
