You need to highlight the front suspension. These cars came with a very unique front suspension setup called Super Strut. I think only 2 other cars ever got it...the caldina and something else. It's a marginally better suspension for grip when cornering but uses a lot more bushings to handle the additional linkages. Some owners replace the front suspension with standard macpherson struts to be cheaper to maintain, but it looks like this one still has the unique suspension on it. The other thing to look for is the brakes. This car shares a brake system with the legendary mk4 supra, but the celica calipers have "celica" printed on them which is kinda cool too.
Love your enthausium for the CL. I've enjoyed a CL500 for 5 years now and agree entirely with your appraisal. I would add the super smooth steering, power delivery and ride that just cosset you so nicely. As you so rightly said it's how a car makes you feel and my CL500 hits a perfect spot for me.
This is my old car, I was the last long term owner. It went to Jersey with me when I lived there and was a fantastic car. I sold it as I needed the space for other cars and it didn't get the use it deserved. The original owner was a director at Goldman Sachs and it was leased through the company, but as you correctly say it wasn't a high spec car with the straight 6 and not many gadgets. I hope you enjoy her, I'm not into modding cars but I look forward to seeing the end result.
My 2005 CL55 has a Weistec 630 kit with lots of cooling mods and 608 rwhp. It passes most everything besides a gas station. I get 7-9 mpg around town and can get 16-20 on the highway depending on speed. With under 90k my ABC is super nice and I could not imagine a better car for the money.
Love the video! Just wondering, are you still running the e28 steering box or have you switched over to a steering rack? Also, what’s your suspensions setup?
Hey dude. Kept the rack and learned to drive around it, would love to do a rack conversion but that will be later on. And I run BC’s. They are going on 6 years old now and still fantastic. It’s comfy enough to drive daily.
I was one of the 3 lads up on the view point the morning you filmed this. Great to wake up to such a great sounding car with a great view. You’ve earned a new subscriber. Keep smashing the videos.
@@thebarnclassicsI was meant to ask for your channel but you drove off as soon as I was about to ask, I saw the “big perm” sticker on the back and after some research on Instagram I finally managed to find your channel.
I’m afraid we’re struggling to understand you. You’re going to have to adapt your speech to fit RU-vid. Not being a dick. Just constructive criticism. You’ve gained a sub’ regardless. 🫡
Watching this one with interest. I just bought a 1988 500 SEL Blue on Blue with only 75000 miles. Obviously has a few things to fix and a few rust areas, but it's mine, forever!
It is called GREEN BLACK which is the colour that came out around about that time and every chauffeur in London had the W140 in that colour , or blue black which was similar but towards grey !!!!
No leather ?? Maybe swop the interior ? Lovely seller although they do say be cautious of the seller who has a story that you want to hear when buying a car ??
