I can’t stop laughing. Joking aside it’s totally true, everything you highlighted reminded me of what we had in our same design camper. Drove me insane , I was clapping when it went down the road with its new owner. I’m 5 ft 1 and my feet used to dangle off that seat. After banded heads , pinched fingers and twisted joints it had to go. 👍 for your video
Hi If you buy a 170 1996-2002 1.9 diesel be aware of the gearbox problem, A 190 2002-2007 2ltr, gearbox is ok on this model, Do some research on youtube videos,,
I have just watched this after 5 years of the original posting and I can honestly say I have never laughed as much since a watching many episodes of one foot in the grave, pure brilliance thank you for sharing loved it 👍
I have been thinking of buying one but you have given me lots of food for thought. You are right - where are the cupboards? And a loo door directly behind the cooker is silly. I hated that clunky side door too. Well done for making us laugh but pointing oit some real issues. If people think they can live with them that's fine, but it's useful to understand the compromises involved.
The problem is caused by the plastic inserts swelling over time. Iremoved the whole hinge, one at a time, by drilling out the pop rivets with a 4mm drill. I opened out the bore of the plastic inserts with a 5mm drill and put it all back together with a drop of oil. The door now swings as freely as it should.
Hi there again Bob, How come you have sold your second vista? Was it not suitable for every day use? I am still looking for a four berth vista, but they are pretty rare, but I'm sure I'll get one soon. Regards, John.
I have health problems with unstable angina, and being 76 doctor has advised me not to drive after I had a heath attack,, I hope you are able to find one ,, It's so much fun on an every day basis, Regards Bob
@@bobshunt9 Thanks Bob, Sorry to hear about your health scare and I wish you a speedy recovery. Today I am taking delivery of a two berth 2002 Vista, I could be bothered to wait to find a four berth, so we will give this one a try this year and if it suits us I'll keep looking for a four berth one, funnily enough it's exactly the same as your one you just sold, down to the green seats, the only thing I would like to change is if I can fit a window in the door or better still get a stable door with a window that will fit. Kind regards, John.
@@johnmitchell3257 Hi John I fitted a door window in both my vista's and the valentine, It's a caravan door window that fits from any older type caravan,,
Hi there Bob, I'm thinking of buying a Vista 4 berth, can I ask why you went back to the Vista from the Valentine? I also want to use the Vista as an every day second vehicle and day van. Kind regards, John.
The vista for me is an every day drive, I don't have a car, as you say use it as a day van, It's small enough to take anywhere, The valentine was a bit longer for parking and as I had already had a vista I saw one on eBay and got it,, It just seems to fit Jan and myself,,
You should have got a four berth , plenty of storage in those and chocks to level up. All the Symbol's I have seen pre 2000 are level anyway. I banged my head getting into the drivers seat as well but I only did it once! I nearly knocked myself out🤣
Hi Bob,, We are confused about all the different videos l am seeing so not sure if sold,,we are interested would love to own her,, please give us your email or mobile number so we can get in touch Many thanks , George 🙂 Jean x
I watched this video and in the end last September I decided to buy a 2002 timberland freedom 2 and in my opinion the timberland is of a better build quality and also very well thought out I have been meaning to thank you for a while I also enjoyed your videos at bala lake
Well just brought one of these we both love it. To stop banging your head on the bedding cupboards hang a bell over it to remind you to duck. Why have loads of cupboards? You only need the bare essentials Travel light, enjoy the experience and fun.
maybe they all slope just like every vehicle, did you put water in the tank to see if that levelled it off??? a slight slope wouldn't bother me at all, water in the sink, no issue!, fill the cabinets with food etc, extra weight might have lowered it at the back? i'm looking at one of these right now, wouldn't bother me at all, i had a Rapido 6m Motorhome before, that slopes forward, never bothered me at all just buy levelling ramps
Hello Bob keep finding my battery is flat. Had it garage-tested few weeks ago and it. Was at 54%. Vehicle runs well otherwise, with everything operational. Do I need to replace it or is there something draining it when stationery? Thanks
Yes the Vista is a very good van, and parking it is easy, fits in any parking place, and with a back door you can exit in the car park better than a side door next to other cars, I have a Pioneer Pizarro at the moment which is the same as a Vista ,,I Have tried other vans but have come back to what I like,,,,
Excellent job and a thorough 'how to' walk rhrough. Definitely looking at doing this myself. What are the benefits of registering it as a camper van, is it cheaper to insure/ tax etc or is it a legal requirement. Most of the other build videos don't mention this.
D V L A has changed the rules, you get the van changed to Van with windows now and not motorhome, Still best to do it though as Insurance is better than a van,,
Hello, The way you made your Doblo a camper van is very clever and on top of that you take time to explain clearly what your are doing: thanks a lot...by the way, could you tell us if you built the pieces of furniture (cupboards, bed etc) by yourself or if you bought them ready made and if so on which store ? Thanks for answering and many years to come enjoying your nice camper van!
I love how obedient the bench seat is. ,,,,, 12:51 "Stay there!" ,,,, and it stays! Brilliant. :) :) :) _________________ Great video. Nice to see the decision making going on, good to keep in the tricky awkward bits - and good descriptions and filming and speed without glossing over anything.
Hello Bob.. I've just been watching your videos on your Autocruise Valentine & really enjoyed them.. but we've just bought ourselves a Autocruise Starfire & just found that I too have Leg Steadies under the back end.. do you use them much & should I make sure the are greased & oiled up well as mine seem to be rather dry..
I keep mine dry as you don't need oil on your hands when your setting up, and use them as they do hold the van more steady when you are walking around in the van
Hi I know this is old video, but was wondering if you ever recovered these seats. I’ve just bought some and want to reupholster them but am struggling to get the old covers off Thanks Mary
