Can any one get them like I hate being poked every time for either blood draw or surgery so I was wondering to fix all that would I be able to get a picc line so they can go do what the drs have to do off the picc line???
Just wanting to give a WARNING on PICC lines, they should never be inserted into a person with total leg paralysis that only has their upper body for transfers. The transfer from wheelchair to bed is enough to severely damage the brachial plexus nerves, and cause permanent paralysis to the patients arm.
PICCsox®, made of a bamboo blend, are medical armbands. They are designed to hold in position, cover, and protect the PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) placed in a patient’s arm. In other words, wear your PICCsox® as an outside garment to protect the PICC from dislodgement or accidental removal. Dislodgement is also one of the most frequent issues associated with PICCs. As a result, patients need to be re-admitted to the hospital for re-insertion of the device. PICCsox® subsequently assists in holding the PICC in position. They also protect the sterile dressing by providing a hypoallergenic barrier. This helps protect against harmful germs and ensures the area stays dry and clean. PICCsox® PICC Line Cover Protector protects and covers your PICC Line and consequently helps prevent pulling and/or displacement. #PICCsox Order here piccsox.com.au/product/piccsox/
I have a picc line in right now for 8 weeks with IV antibiotics for a blood infection 😬 Its running 24hrs a day so I have to carry my IV bag in this little backpack with a pump I did alot of research while in the hospital and videos like yours helped
So happy your PICC Line works for you. The dr had a PICC put in me & I developed a DVT. Now I have to spend at least the next 3 mo. on blood thinners. If I bump, scrape, or cut myself I could very well die! Nosebleeds are also a danger to your health & quite common on blood thinners. KNOW YOUR RISKS, do your homework, and ask for clear explanations before you let ANYONE insert a PICC Line, your life could depend on it!!!! I WOULDN’T even recommend a PICC Line for my dog!! BAD, BAD NEWS...BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOUR VIDEO HELP ME SO MUCH TODAY I WAS SOOO SCARED I HAD TO GIVE NY UNCLE MEDS THROUGH HIS PICCLINE AND IVE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE . YOUR STRENGTH AND CALMNESS HELPED ME SETTLE MY NERVES TO DO THIS TODAY. MUCH LOVE TO YOU 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💞💞💞🌌🌌🌌
i have a picc line in the right side of my chest for tpn cause i have trouble eatting and i also use it for my one seizure med i also have a feeding tube that i use for the rest of my meds cause i get sick when i use my feeding tube for the feeding tube formula thank u sometimes i feel like i'm the only one that has a picc line
Amjad Hussain And you should also wear a mask when you’re talking during the change (because everyone accidentally spits a bit whilst talking sometimes and that’s not always visible and then you’re wondering why you’re getting an infection if you’re unlucky 🙁)
brenda burroguhs I thought that too... Gloves are not needed if she cleaned her hands before very well and uses the no-touch-method, but I’d definitely use a mask, especially when you’re talking during the procedure (because bacteria from the mouth could „fly“ to the catheter or the medical stuff, because sometimes we’re accidentally spitting a bit whilst we’re talking)
I love your attitude and that you made this video. I have one for chemotherapy and blood draws. I wish all the best for you and commend you. (Isn't crazy to taste what goes into the PICC line? LOLOL)
I have cf as well, I’ve gotten a picc line before but I was put to sleep during the procedure. Tomorrow I am getting another one but I will not be put to sleep and I have so much anxiety.
I'm so glad I weren't for a port, when it's deaccessed, it's almost invisible and i can access it when I need it. They offered me a central line or picc in addition to my port, i couldn't psychologically handle a permanent tube sticking out. Plus, I'm allergic to chlorhexidine, which means I can't use those anti-infective disks and would have higher infection risk
The cap on it prevents any kind of backflow and only syringes can open the cap up. No germs can get inside the cap unless you connect a syringe to it without cleaning it with alcohol first.
Thank you for this video. I just got a PICC line for antibiotics to kill off a back infection before I go to bypass surgery. Very informative and friendly and upbeat! God bless you and all of us as we get healthier. 👍🏻😁
Thank you so much I am a kid and I just got I picc line and I’m missing out on summer I watched your vid right before the procedure and it really helped me
I may have to get one because my veins are extremely hard to get and if they do find one it doesn't last. As I'm sure you know getting IVs are painful enough, how painful is getting the actual picc line? I'm actually really scared to do it but I may not have a choice. Thxs for making this video, God bless you.
I know you wrote this 3 months ago, but i just got a PICC yesterday 9-11-18. It isn't very painful. I felt the sticks of the lidocaine and just a little uncomfortable with the first start of threading the line. Nothing to cry over and I have panic attacks a lot lately..I didn't have one with this. Im sure you have it by now, but if not, good luck and its not bad at all.
I had a picc line for 6 weeks when I had endocarditis and septic shock...I don't remember ever having to get it replaced..but I loved bandage change day because it got so itchy!
