Be careful with plants some are poisonous to animals. You mentioned that one of the plants was ivy I do know that English ivy is poisonous if your pets ingest it. Always check any type of houseplants you have or want if you have pets.
Finding a way to manufacture this concept would be pretty cool. We've got a pretty big ranch and our on going problems are always shaving costs and wasting hay, so this would definitely be a good addition to our morning operations.
Very spoiled little kittens! Looks like someone loves them very much!! Awsome Catio -- I need one of those for my furry friends!! thanks for sharing!! (new sub here)
What fence did you use? All I can find at Lowe's is hardware fence,, 19gauge. I don't have bears , coyotes in the area. Do you think it's strong enough for catio?
Oh, I LOVE this! I've been saying for years that I should get one built for my three babies. I couldn't build one myself. Just a bit beyond my expertise. I will use your video as a reference when I get one built. Also, your cats are adorable. 🙂👍♥️
I'm looking to outfit my existing porch to something similar! Could you share what those little clips that I think I see joining some to the wire cloth? thanks !
OMG !! This is adorable. No detail is left out. I am not yet a Cat mama but want to adopt two kittens soon. I have a big front porch and was trying to figure out how to cover it up so that it could be used for Cats! Thats what led me here! So heart warming to see someone who adores their Cats!! You are the best Cat Dad!!
That's awesome!! I absolutely love it! I recently told my husband about these things, and he's thinking about building one for our cat, Dusty.. probably after next tax time.
Very cool! Great design and execution! I don't think I would have punched a hole through my kitchen wall for a cat door, tho. You have a window right there, why not put an access door for them in the window?
I love this. You did a beautiful job with it. I'm creating a closed-in back porch catio for my indoor/outdoor cats. They insist on sitting on the back porch in the rain and getting wet so I'm enclosing mine with plexiglass, it's much smaller than yours. I was planning to have an outdoor litter box too. (I thought I was crazy for doing it but I wanted to give them a place to go outside when it's raining.) So what do you put in your outdoor litter box? Is it litter or sand? How do you clean it? I'll look for more videos to see if you've explained this already but hoping to get a link if you have one. I have a parrot so the catio will double as a small bird aviary for me to sit with my Eclectus when the cats are out playing. This way she can watch nature without me having to worry she will fly away. I don't like clipping wings on my birds.
Yes, check the plants for compatability to cats chewing on them. My cats are always trying to chew on plants they shouldn't. Now I have a plant room they can't go into!! Until spring, then the plants can go out on my porch. Love all the consideration you put into this project!! Enjoy the cat watching!!❤🐈⬛🐈
You defo have the right kind of idea with layout and plants etc. However, would have been even better if it was double size, would make for a beautiful hooman with cat space
I love that you did this for your cats! You obviously put in a lot of thought and effort. I especially love the cat paw lights and that you put in pieces of wood and plants. Your home looks like a special place with the barn and outdoor area. Very nice and private. Your cats are adorable! When I lived in Florida I had a nice big, screened pool enclosure and my cats loved it out there. We kept a lot of plants and even some they were allowed to eat. They could watch the birds, squirrels and neighborhood cats and dogs from a safe place. I recently moved to my parent's house in South Carolina and there is no secure outdoor space for them. I feel bad because I know they are bored. They sit in a small room with 2 sets of sliding glass doors to look out at the back yard which has al of trees and is pretty. I need to purchase screens for the doors so they can smell the fresh air and hear the wildlife. It's squirrel city central and my dad has lots of bird houses and feeders outside. The cats love watching the birds and squirrels. Although this home is temporary for me, I'm thinking about building a catio and leaving it for my parents to use for their cat. I think it will be a nice grandfather-daughter-granddaughter project. You have given me a lot to think about. Thank you!
Epic job!!!! I just assembled a catio for my 5 rescue cats. I'm very unhappy with the flimsy wood of my Catio ($350) I want to add on the it. I have wireless cams and solar lights they love. I'd love to do the outside litterbox....any advice???
I can say in the outdoor litter box we use the cheap non-clumping clay litter and it seems to hold up best for outside conditions. Just met with our carpenter to double the size of the catio. Very excited.
Wow that is the most awesome Catio I have ever seen!!!! I would so want to chill in there enjoying the beautiful cat's & crocheting while they have fun with my yarn lol. 🥰 Thank you for sharing 💕
Very nice, I love your design! Here's my step by step video on building a catio using PVC pipes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1JS-WA68skw.html
Good on you looking after your feline friends and family!!! They're loving it! I love the water fountain idea! Just wondering about cats and their ability to see at night. Would the lights be too much for them. I can see how it is great for us humans and the look of it being beautiful. I have a pergola with no roof or walls just outside the sliding door to the courtyard. I am thinking about enclosing it or instead just placing fence ocillot paddles on the courtyard fence and have them use the courtyard and adding other exercise/fun play areas. The courtyard has recently been prepared for fake grass to be place in to it and then vegetable beds will be added. All with forethought of our kitty whom we rescued and hope to rescue another soon. What are your thoughts about the lights? Or anyone on here that may know more? Thank you.
