If you are going to ask for a salary increase and your immediate superior says no, claiming that he does not have the funds to do so, even if you work for a large company, resign. There are better jobs near you with better pay, and in the future, if you specialize in your field of work, you may even return to the same company, but not for the same position. Life is wonderful and goes by too quickly to be a slave for so little money.
