I have to find the setting to turn it all for all of them. Right now it asks me one by one & the default setting is set to no comments & I forget about it

That is NOT a press. It is a knee extension. He has very minor hip extension , and all knee extension. This is purely a RU-vid “ hit the like” exercise. You could probably get better results lowering the weight and using a static hold at knee flexion, like a wall squat. Can’t believe people try this crap.

Funny this is my only video that gets comments. For reference, it was done once and never again. There is value in experimentation, play and exploration of load but this is mighty limited in progressive overload, so it's not something I ever used with clients or myself after randomly posting this. Don't get lost in names and just look for progress. This week I'm going for my 1st 500lb squat at nearly 40 years old (all 100% pain free) Enjoy your own training, and don't worry about others.

So you’re saying this isn’t a good exercise idea?

@@shannacook1320I’m saying that an exercise needs to be beneficial for what the individual has capability for and their goal. Beyond that there are tons of “exercises” that put people in danger of injury just by attempting them. I never recommend pressing over squatting to my clients. 1. It’s not a natural movement in regards to the kinetic chain 2. You risk injury just setting yourself up. 3. You simply have other better ways of developing those muscles Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do something. Jumping off a cliff is faster than climbing down, both get you to the bottom, but which one lets you walk away when you’re done

Have you tried a variant to push through the heels to possibly find a new glute activation? I tried it on a Smith machine and it felt great for those needing spinal compression but not much glute activation.

You forgot… just plain stupid. Any benefit from this exercise could be obtained from a conventional landline front/goblet squat.

Why just don't squat??? Pure waste of time

Different variations of the same thing provide different benefits. Thankfully these are not mutually exclusive to doing squats. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MAHVozD8ATA.html Complaining about someone else's training without context is as silly as complaining about what someone else is eating.

Waste of time no benefit whatsoever_ put the weight on the floor take off the handle grab the barbell and do squats _ easy or put handle back on and muscle it up to shoulder height and do squats or squat thrusts or jumping jacks or run in place _ but not this fake whatever _ waste of time!!!!

The only waste of time is reading internet comments. Thinking there is a "best" / "only" way is the only thing to avoid.

From a bio-mechanics perspective - the angle is all wrong for a simulated squat. More like (but not exactly) a vertical leg press movement. It's too distorted to even qualify as a valid lying hack squat. It wont be pretty if you get your feet tangled up in the Viking handle bar either.
@funnystrong

Since anatomically every hip is unique there is never just one way to "squat" aka simultaneous hip and knee flexion. The key to me is to explore and expand body control so I can "squat" as many ways as possible. The box at the feet provides a nice solo spot option for the leg-press work. Risk is unavoidable but manageable.

Ahhh so I wasn't the only who thought about this. Now the question what are you rigging it with?
@funnystrong
@funnystrong 6 лет назад
a landmine holder, alternatively you can place the bar in the corner of a room
@pookiewood

At EveryMeal oh I meant the part your feet are pushing on. After more digging found out its a the Viking attachment you out in the video title. I thought you were calling the move "viking" at first. All cleared up and I'll be ordering one to go with my landmine.
@shannacook1320
