If you love flying as much as we do, join us as we explore the Southern California skies in our plane "Hannah". Hannah is a 1978 PA-28R-201 aka Piper Arrow III and she is amazing
We'll share videos that will help you be more confident about flying to new airports and inspire you to fly to discover.
Our hope is you feel encouraged and confident to visit new airports and fly to discover.

I flew in and had brunch at the restaurant with a Socata group a few years ago, and the food was good. The outside dining was really nice with the views of the runways.
Nice little find on your channel. .I just got my PPL the end of April and this is my home airfield. The new fuel farm is all setup, fully functional, and better location than before. I just found your channel today while researching Gibbs Field in San Diego.
@@tenuhsee1975 Oh no way! Congrats on your ticket! KMYF is definitely one of our favorite and Tower is really nice! We hope our video was able to help. Yeah we are out your way a couple of times a year, great small airport for us. What plane do you fly? Thank you so much for giving us an update on the fuel. I could tell once they finished, it was going to be a really great upgrade!
@@outsidethecockpit I have a Beechcraft Musketeer Super 3. I was fortunate enough to do all but 7 hours of my training in it. I now have a little over 120 hours, and we're thinking about a San Diego weekend trip in the next couple months. Your transient parking videos are super helpful because several of those are definitely on my bucket list. KIGM would definitely be a good idea if you find yourself going to the cafe there. I've been twice already and still not sure if I parked in the right area either time 🤣
@@tenuhsee1975 🤣🤣 wow must definitely be a confusing airport but you got it! We’ve constantly heard good things about KIGM so we will add it to our list next time we fly out there. That is so awesome you got to train in your own plane. I didnt get to for my PPL but I did for my instrument. It really is a game changer. We are so happy to hear the videos have been helpful. Don’t hesitate to ask us any questions if there is still something you’d like to know. Have fun when you visit KMYF, if you have time, definitely do the San Diego bay tour. 😁
I've never parked at Oceanside, but have landed a handful of times there. It is a coastal gem. Of course Brown, Gillespie, Montgomery, and McClellan are amazing airports as well for GA, but having a non-towered airport on the coast makes things very enjoyable. Easy in and out!
Definitely, when we met the airport manager, he even said that private jets sometimes park at Oceanside because it is just so much cheaper than parking at Palomar.
@@outsidethecockpit I was looking at buying there. Still looking for a place to buy a home near or on airport. The views aren’t as good as we thought at that airport. We were there a few weeks ago.
@@RaceMentally It's a sleepy little airport and you are right, there really isn't a view, but what keeps me from buying there is the heat🤣, I don't know if I can do 120 degree weather.
@@outsidethecockpit I’ve got a place in havasu now I’m getting rid of. Yeah the heat sucks. Might stick to Nor Cal. Just flew up to Red Bluff and Chico last week. Very beautiful there vs AZ. I like your channel I’m a newer pilot and subscribed to watch places you’ve flown into. I’m in So Cal MYF/SEE and appreciate your videos. Trying to plan somewhere to go this weekend.
@@RaceMentally Oh wow, congrats on getting your ticket! That is awesome! Love how you are getting at it and flying to new places. We haven't flow that far up north yet but we have plans to in the fall so we might just have to fly into those cities now. Aw, thanks so much for the feedback! That is definitely our goal. MYF and SEE are two of our favorite airports, even have a hat from Gillespie Cafe. We've been sticking close to the coast lately in our flying just because it's so hot inland but we definitely have marine layers to contend with, so lots of IFR approaches for us. If you have an airport you'd like for us to cover, feel free to let us know. I can always use an excuse to fly somewhere 🤣
Hey thanks! So the hourly fee is unfortunately exactly what it sounds like, an hourly fee to park your plane on Signature's apron. Yeah it surprised us too and it fluctuates. As far as holding short for traffic, honestly, it was fast unlike the approach where I had to go around for being too high. But I won't complain to hold short for all the commercial airliners, nothing cooler than sitting literally front row as they come in for landing. haha.
I recently found your channel and I'm very happy that I did! I love the effort and information you include. Definitely going to use these when I plan trips around SoCal!
I was there on Jul 19, used the south tie-downs and went to lunch in Princeton just outside the gate. What cameras do you use? It looks like you have. 360 camera?
Hey Brian, thats awesome, yeah it was our first time but next time we will definitely park on the south end to do some more exploring. As far as cameras, we actually don’t use 360s, we use GoPro 9s. Found them to be pretty good for what we do😁.
@@outsidethecockpit One of your videos had a different angle from the same location, so I thought you had a 360 there. I've used a 360 to adjust viewpoints before. Nice work.
@@brianmoffet ah thank you! No we have two cameras, sometimes on both wings and sometimes and wing and tail. We are always experimenting, technically it’s my wife. We will definitely check out some 360s though in the near future, thanks for the heads up!
@@fishbone470 We mount them on the tiedown loops on the wings and tail. My wife does all the filming which leaves me to do what a pilot must do first and foremost, aviate😆. She does an amazing job with filming.
Sweet channel man, I’m digging the transient parking series. Thanks for giving back to aviation community. Your videos look great, what app do you use for video editing?
Thanks so much for that! We appreciate it so much. We are just really glad to hear that the vids are helpful. As far as editing, I use Davinci Resolve Studio. We are hoping to make the vids even better by using more of Davinci’s features but it’s been a great software so far.
Brown Field, KSDM, I soloed from in March 1979 when I was 16 years old. I got my pilot's license before I obtained my Calif. Drivers License, Such fond memories. Thanks for your post!
We only learned about this recently which is definitely great to know. We wish we would have known on our first visit but a reason to go back😅. Thanks Trevor!
Nice video, was there yesterday and I got hit by gust too, it was bumpy and not sure if you were coming from the East but tower said modified straight in 19 didn’t know what that meant
@@redeyerabbittubing Thanks for the feedback! We appreciate it so much. As far as the modified straight in, sometimes it means just head straight in from your position but obviously you’d straighten out before landing. Never hurts to ask tower after you switch to ground. Sounds like whatever you did worked just fine😁
Oh thank you so much! That was exactly our problem too! We really appreciate you letting us know. Anything we can do to make the videos better, don't hesitate also to let us know. 😁
I also have been doing lunch at different airports. I fly out of centeral Illinois when ever the weather is good and find a restaurant that is close to the airport. I'm flying a PA 28 Piper Warrior II.
Warrior II is the reason I love tapered wings and got an Arrow III😁. Whats been your favorite airport so we know to visit it whenever we head that way.
I haven't been there in a long time either. It's been about ten years. Like you, I've flown in their with high and low winged aircraft. Nice airport. We even camped there! They hauled us to Pismo and even came and got us (1999)!
Thanks for that feedback Yuriy! Unfortunately there are no tie downs at Catalina so chocks on the asphalt or stakes on the dirt will work. Thanks again, we will definitely make sure to add that to our previous videos descriptions and call it out on future vids.
Tell me more about this student pilot experience? Was that on your cross country? Btw I love your channel, you are becoming quite the accomplished pilot and I love that you are using your talents to give back to the GA community. Really couldn’t be more proud of you.
That happened actually on Sept 18 2022 on a solo local flight. I remember because I went to Brackett, wanted to go to San Bernardino but transitioned Ontario back to Chino and when I got back, you and Cole wondered where I was going🤣. As far as giving back, when you were my CFI you said that I should do something to give back to GA and I never forgot that. Thank you sir!
