So Carmy did in fact throw away money. I can’t remember when but they reference the amount being like $5k short now…. lol

Im a big psychological nerd so i just wanted to share this insight, no hate to y’all i love your reactions!!! i think from the beginning when richie would talk about mikey you can tell he was really hurt, i think certain people including myself picked up on that very early on so i guess they expected y’all to also pick up on that being the reason he was super annoying but not everyone is able to pick up subtle things like that and i agree that a lot of those comments probably missed that too on their first watch but not everyone, which why the writers makes it more obvious later. Also with sydney, i don’t know if people were upset with y’all about this but the whole reason why she was being so mean was bc carmy was saying everything was ok with her accidentally serving her dish to the food critic when she could tell from his passive aggression that he was pissed at her so when the orders starting coming in, carmy brought up the dish and that was what annoyed her bc she was fine with taking responsibility about the order machine and was really mad that carmy was mad at her about something she had no control over, she didn’t know that man was a food critic so why did carmy being it up during the machine order issue, so all that + richy egging her on about the dish and implying she did serve the dish to the food critic on purpose really set her off. I don’t care about the richie thing bc it was more subtle but i thought the sydney situation was a lot more on carmy not being able to communicate his emotions in the kitchen, if you notice he really on does that when he is outside, like when he talked to sydney last season and also the marcus. Carmy is not a good leader in the kitchen he tries his best but he doesn’t know how to control his emotions which i think should be more recognized bc sydney got upset due to the lack of communication from carmy, that was the core issue.

I won't give any serious spoilers (at least I hope this doesn't count) but Richie goes through serious growth in season 2 and its great. The whole crew feels like family to me (bias bc I've seen s1 & 2 so far) but Richie particularly has been one of my favorites. He's not perfect, but he tries. There's one ep in s2 that's particularly criticially acclaimed, but its not my favorite compared to another one with Richie in it (again, trying to be as vague as possible haha). S2 is great, even better than the first to me!

I completely agree with you both on the analysis you did after the episode. Syd is obviously a great Chef, but she does have some attitude problems. She’s impatient and pushy. Great intentions, but she needs to learn how to WAIT her time, “earn her stripes” as people say, and how to LISTEN to those with so much more experience than her.

Mistakes were made on all ends here. Marcus, bless his soul, was in his own little world. Sydney wasn't willing to humble herself in front of her mistake. Richie cranked up his sandpaper personality at the worst possible time. Tina treating the place like a daycare. But Carmy was the worst of all - instead of backing down and admitting they couldn't make all those orders, he treated it like a personal challenge and screamed at everyone for not being as intense about it as he was. No one deserves to be treated like that.

As for the “confidential” on the script pages… typically instead of that it’s your name watermarked instead, but you’re allowed to share the script with your reader, scene partners, or scene study partner (which in this case is Ronald), however this is only for auditions, and even then in work, this can be the case but you’re limited to those involved in production, so it’s likely Ronald would be able to, but it would be James Marsden’s name watermarked on the page and his responsibility if the contents got leaked (hence the name watermark)

Richie has been antagonising Syd from day 1, in this episode him and Carmy were passive aggressive towards her compounded by the extra tasks he piled on her. So she was bound to blow up. The foreshadowing was in the episode where Tina sabotaged her and Carmy gave new responsibilities despite her protests. It culminated in her being frustrated and blowing up. Here, Carmy wasn’t upfront with her about the reviewer and instead made snide comments to Richie who was already anti Syd. Syd was right in suggesting the to-go system to help the failing business. The order option left open was an honest mistake. Carmy was exposed as a poor manager. He too could have checked the tablet coz he was working on it prior to opening. So Syd is right, it’s not entirely on her, Carmy turned into his old boss which is something he said he didn’t want to happen.
@Keesha_Hardy
@Keesha_Hardy 19 дней назад
Yeah as much as I still don’t like Sydney’s behavior in this episode, I can’t pretend that she’s solely to blame. She tried to talk to Carmy prior to service because she knew that they weren’t all on the same page. Carmy wouldn’t listen, AND why not have the staff run through the to gos for like a week prior to get acquainted with how everything works, instead of waiting until RIGHT before the shift you want to implement it? That’s on Carmy. And I agree about Richie. I don’t like Sydney bringing up his daughter & not accepting his help when he starts prepping the giardiniera, but he also said horrible things to her throughout the season. It was a buildup for her.
@PopJibberish
@PopJibberish 6 дней назад
The part where she put him in his place at the forefront of the episode in the front of the restaurant was warranted. The latter portion when he was legitimately trying to help her and was chill the rest of the episode then STABBING him was not cool. She never apologized for that [not up to the episode we're on currently anyway]. That is the part that we can't rock with. But she's still one of our favorite characters DESPITE bad kitchen etiquette with knives and going way too far with the verbal berating. 😁

No, because Syd and Marcus PISS ME THE FUCK OOOOOFFFFF in this episode. I like both of them, but they really get to me in this specific episode. Syd especially. SHE was pushing Carmy to create and release a dish that he said multiple times that it wasn’t ready yet. SHE gave the dish to a “customer” (food critic) without permission from anyone. SHE pushed Carmy into implementing the to-go system that he said he didn’t think they were ready for (and he was right, they weren’t). SHE left the pre order option open, which caused all this caos, SHE was antagonizing Richie in this episode (even though it’s usually the other way around). And when shit hit the fan, SHE had the audacity to up and LEAVE and abandon the rest of the crew to deal with her mess. And she doesn’t think she’s wrong at all. IT’S ABSOLUTELY MADDENING!!
@kittykatt7652
@kittykatt7652 19 дней назад
FACTS! It felt to me like she was trying to get that dish out there on purpose. She made a point of telling the customer her name. And the little smirk afterwards. She needs to learn focus. Stop arguing with Richie! Marcus was being a baby! Frustrating!
@Keesha_Hardy
@Keesha_Hardy 19 дней назад
I hate that suddenly Carmy couldn’t push back and say no to the to gos, & it’s somehow Sydney pushed him to do it. Like, I thought Carmy was the boss? Also, why couldn’t Carmy have the team run through the to go system for a week or so, THEN implement the system? He acted as if he couldn’t do that and his hands were tied so the new system had to be implemented RIGHT before the service they intended to implement it in. Sydney leaving the preorders on is an honest mistake that COULD have been caught had they went over the system beforehand, as mentioned above. That’s ALL on Carmy, not Sydney. Sydney’s behavior towards Richie in that episode & her serving the dish in the previous one was on her, DEFINITELY.
@kittykatt7652
@kittykatt7652 20 дней назад
Somebody is being a little delusional lol. There was no twist. Carmy accused Richie of leaving the cigarettes on the stove and Rich thought he did as well. They had not yet shown us what happened. Sydnie got distracted trying to stop Ebriam from reading the reviews about her dish and failed to close the pre-order menu. She wasted time trying to explain herself to Carmy, arguing with Richie, yelling at Marcus etc. She started bugging out PERIOD. Things may not always be as they seem to you because of your perception not some "plot twist". We are learning their personalities and their stories. It's a journey.

"Change is hard for people ... he's used to things being chaotic." "Richie's arc is coming to terms with change" - So true and insightful!! Richie is grieving. The first scene with Mikey shows what he has lost. He's devastated. His daughter calls him "bad news". He's not a kid. He's a grown man and ... he feels like a loser. He's not that shady - he's not a career criminal and not up to Really Bad Stuff. He's a street kid, grew up tough, but he's not THAT sketchy. Mikey was the one who suggested he sell drugs - maybe even setting him up with a "connect". It's not up to Sydney to tolerate Richie's acting out - she is right to be annoyed - but like I said in another comment - this isn't the kind of show where there is a bad guy. This is an ensemble of flawed people working out their shit while they are at work. People are messy and isn't it so true that work is like a second family!! with all the dysfunction! This show is not about the restaurant - it's about grief. I love how we see Tina loving how much she has improved. Richie isn't just a hold out. He feels like he CAN'T join in. your discussions are so great.
