Hi! I am Lola and I like to draw people in semirealistic style :)
I started getting into digital art in 2020 and am self-taught so please keep in mind that my knowledge about art is pretty scuffed ಠ_ಠ (but I'm trying to improve everyday of course)
Thank youuuu now i finally understand grayscale technique! I watched tons of grayscale technique and i don't understand it at all This video really helps :]]
This is the right way to do grayscale to color, actually you can add the color first [normal mode layer], then copy the color layer and conver it to black and white, this way you will have your values saved, then add the shadows on the black and white layer and then move the colors on top of the shadows layer and change it it color mode. This process is way differnet than adding multiply layer on top of the color layer to add shadows.
Wuh, this is exactly what I was looking for in semi-realistic art. I always wanted to render them to look 3d. You are very skilled, would love to learn how you rendered it so beautifully in greyscale. Well done, teach me your ways lol ❤
Think of the head as a blob, and extruding parts (ears, nose, etc.) are other shapes connected on that blob. It should be smooth on the bigger surface on the blob but where the shapes connect, there should be hard edges. I hope that makes sense. Having references is very important where u can observe where the soft part and hard edges are. To avoid overblending, keep ur blend brush small and work slowly, smudge only where it’s needed. Hope that helps :)
I’m going to keep saying this until you get more attention: YOU NEED MORE ATTENTION Not only are you talented in art, but you’re talented in teaching too. The way you explain things is easy to understand and follow. I’m not a beginner artist and because I’m not a beginner artist this stuff isn’t new to me and I already know it, but I think the way you explain these things are amazing for beginner artists. You don’t just say “use light and dark”, you also explain how different surfaces have different levels of light and dark. You also occasionally add some memes to your tutorials which I think is fun. In this video I loved the “I love you” cat lol (especially because I love cats). Fun teachers are always the best teachers imo, so keep doing what you’re doing! You’re an amazing artist, teacher, and entertainer, I really don’t understand why you aren’t getting the attention you deserve! 💖
Aww thank you so so much!! I’m self taught so I don’t really have proper art knowledge haha so I mostly “teach” in the way that I learned art. I’m so glad that you found the way I explain things helpful 💕 Your comment really motivates me to make more and better videos 🥹💖 Thanks again!!
@@owloart I’m also self taught but I watch art videos to either help me with something and/or to motivate me to draw. I wanted to learn how to do grayscale to color and I found your tutorial and it was the best one I’ve watched for that. I really hope you keep doing what you’re doing!
Wait im shocked at the view count lmao, i thought this would have hundreds of thousands of views ;A; I hope the algorithm picks you up and runs with you girl, this was sooo helpful
The Grayscale tutorial will be posted this Friday, Jan 5 at 6PM EST ❤ Hope you’ll find it helpful and thank you so much for the lovely comments under this video 🥹💕
I HATE how underrated you are. The way you edit your videos is so entertaining to watch and your explanations are easy to follow. Your art is beautiful, I hope you get the attention you deserve! 💖
This comment is pretty late but I just want to say that this is the best tutorial I’ve watched for grayscale to color. I appreciate the clear instructions!
@@owloart Forgot to mention as well, but i hope you have a discord server later so you can have your own art community of learning idiots like me. It's been a while since I last drawn something and I got inspired by your improvements, thanks again.
@@seriousgoat5785 aww i’m happy to hear that u got inspired. I saw a lot of artists having their discord servers but I’m not sure what should be in the server
@@owloart You can do what i like to call "the plan", which consists of doing something without a plan, messin around a bit, no getting anything done and then getting an actual plan an doing stuff.
