Great info. Just one question: My street size is EU43, but I want to go up half a size - would this be going to a EU44. I take it that when you refer to half sizes, you mean it for UK & US sizes?
❤God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.❤For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, Jesus ❤'s you 1 John 2:15-17 NIV [15] Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. [16] For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-comes not from the Father but from the world. [17] The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. A thing that is never mentioned is that high rubber (such as on Zenist Pro or V6) is not for everyone. I have a high arch/bridge area, and I wasn't able to fit my foot into such a shoe, because there's no cut out in the rubber there. I really wanted to go for a Zenist Pro with a performance fit, but even +0.5-1 would be close to impossible for me to slide in. Ended up going for street size Phantoms, and they are great.
Ironically, I tried street size phantoms, and just a little too small. I can see how people can wear them if they can't feel the tops of their toes or something but if you aren't used to downsizing to such a ridiculous amount, definitely do a half size up. Half size up is pretty comfortable but I'd still have to take it off occasionally. However in the street size, I'd be taking them off after every boulder problem which is just not comfortable. Also limits volume and smearing friction since my foot was so locked up in the shoe that it was hard to actually bend (ignoring the pain ofc).
Can’t help but feel like the marketing of saying the shoe will only support you up to your first V6 is not the best. Especially because this shoe feels very much like a fantastic mid level climbing shoe. What are you thoughts on this Evolv?
That wasn't my takeaway from this video. It seems to imply more so that you'll have a shoe that will not limit grow as you progress from entry level to moderate difficulty climbs, v6/7 commonly being a major milestone for most. And it was never stated as v6 being the limit to growth/support.
These will run tighter than the Elektra and won't stretch nearly as much. You might get a 1/4 to half size of stretch from these if you wear them tight.
EpicTV has a great video on sizing for these. Basically, if you want it to be snug and somewhat comfortable, get a half size LARGER than you street shoe size.
so this is the only video about it? I guess it is not so popular. I want to comment that the last of this shoe is quite different from phantom after I did some try-on yesterday, doesn't fit my foot. So this isn't a direct evolution of phantom.
You're story, sound very similar to my own, I have tried to keep my feet for the last 10 years and am now amputating my left leg bk. The question i get the most is what happened how where you dropped on top rope? Which i do not have an answer, as my belayer was at the top on the final pitch, he left and never answered my calls, and just left me on the side of the cliff. Still 150m off the ground clipped to a bolt with both ankles shattered my left snapped off completely, all i could do was wait for rescue. Your story resignates with me as I have been back climbing and my hope is after my amputation I can climb harder, my goal is to climb elcap, so that will be my focus moving forward. Im glad to hear your partner stuck around and great that you still get along, I would love to be able to know what happened. You're an inspiration thanks for this video has really helped me with a more positive outlook to my future.
This is exactly what I needed. I broke my L1 and L2 two months ago in a climbing accident and I can't wait to get back to climbing but I have to lay in bed for now.
Kai's mother is so supportive of him, what a great relationship they have. He seems like a really good kid, hoping he goes far with this, tons of potential!
